  • Hard to believe this video is over 3 years old! Flashlights have come a long way since I made this video.

  • I have 5 fenix flashlights and just lost my single AA LD10. Just orderdered the NDI. I will be interested to compare Fenix to Nitecore. Just from the video's here it seem the NDI is a highly capable torch.

  • A lamp for which the user needs lightning fast reflexes.

  • Thanks for the cool Review! 5 stars

As for me personally - I like to opereate with 1 hand

  • wow the strobe is seizure inducing. i have the ex10 kind of wish i shell out a bit more for the strobe now

  • Great review! The NEX/NDI and the PD system each have their own strengths and weaknesses. Personally I like the Nitecore Defender Infinity, but I wish it had a clip! The PD lights still remain our best sellers though.

  • i think the smartPD makes things a lot simpler.

  • Never thought flashlights could be this complex.

  • The technology is moving so fast that makes me wonder what will be a flashlight capable of in 5 years!

  • HI, how much did it cost you and do you think the strobe is bright enough to temporarily blind an attacker? Also, do you know what the higest lumen is? Is it 130 or 180? thanks

  • It costs $80 and its highest lumen is 130

  • looks about 9lu to me :)

Ahh, I think i'll stick with the aaaq4 fenix :P

  • i have to ask... where do you buy that?

  • Wade thanks for the instructions i could not get it to dim by reading the manual but this video is a great piece if work, nuthin better than talking through instructions :-)!!!

  • pretty usefull when you want a AA battery flashlight

  • Specs please? Stamina? Max lumen? Throw?

  • And for the record, I did consider getting one for the sole fact that it uses a aa. :):)

  • Zellow, its not complicated, if you dont like nitecore or fenix, then just dont buy them, this is turning into a strobe&sos vs no strobe no sos arguement, which is silly, wade did a great job with this video as far as i am concerened, this should not be the place to discuss the light anyway.(yes i realise the irony in this statement, but i mean it too)

  • He's just a troll. He signed up to Youtube the day he wrote that, lol. I love my Nitecore, it's been working great so far. One thing I've learned is, from high, turn off, set to low, and you can signal with it, and as long as you don't keep low on for more than 1 second at a time you can switch back to high (tactical mode) and high will instantly come on. There is only a slight delay switching back to max if you have the user mode on for over 1 second.

  • Hmmm, this light is quirky, but in a way that give it character, 1.5 more hours then i get to go home!

  • As you can see, there is no way to instantly activate MAXIMUM brightness when you're in low mode. You have to do a silly 'turn this within X second and turn it back again within X second". Reminds of me of Fenix lights, which are also very fiddly to use.

  • If you are low and you want max you simply tighten the bezel and it will go into max, no twisting back and forth. Not hard at all. The only thing silly is you trying to be an expert on a light you do not own.

  • Hey Wade, Listen man Im sorry for saying all that stuff on your video. I know I don't own the light and could'nt know how it works as best as you but your video is pretty good and I do think I have an idea :):). And as I look at the video again I think I realize why you have to twist the bezel to do anything in two seconds or less. It may be a pain in the butt for us but I can see the importance of getting a lot of light fast, and then going dimmer fast too. Well anyway sorry man.

  • Initial Position: Tightened head.

    Mode: Maximum brightness or strobe.

    - Loosen and tighten within 1 second to switch between modes.

Mode state is saved even after turning off.

    Initial Position: Loosened head.

    Mode: User-defined brightness.

    - Tighten and loosen within 1 second to ramp brightness up.

    - Tighten and loosen again within 1 second to ramp brightness down.

Switch off to set and save user-defined brightness level.

  • My friend owns one and sadly the U.I of Nitecore is very cumbersome to use

Unlike most lights you CANNOT activate Maximum brightness instantly, which is a

Deal breaker for me. Here's how complex it is:

  • Again, a simple tightening of the bezel will active maximum from low. It's not complex at all, but again, since you don't own it, how would you know how it works?

  • Thanks wade, also how low is that low? ArcAAA low?

    Crenshaw

  • It's pretty low, probably lower than my old ArcAAA.

  • Excellent, just what i want to hear...:twothumbs:

mines gonna be at home when i get home..awsome..

  • Wow, that UI is way too complicated. Someone could learn it, but I fail to see how thats tactical. I'm Lightguy27 from CPF. Oh, and nice review Wade.

  • Its tactical because you can get to its brightest setting immediatlly.and its a foward clikcy.

  • Well you can get to the highest setting but if you are holding a rifle in a cramped corridor you would have to tuck the gun to your chest and use both hands just to change a setting, that doesent sound very tactical. The E1B is the best tactical clikie I have seen yet, if there was an E2B with 200 lumens high and 10 lumen low, it would be a great tac light. And the new Maxblast tailcap on the UA2 & UB2 is awesome aswell with it's push all the way for 200/400 lumens. At least it has a clikie.

  • Clearly youre a surefire fanboy..:P but im just saying that, you dont need to change any modes, just keep it tight, on brightest setting, its actually better in this sense than an E1B because when you mommentary on off, then on again, it doesnt change modes. And, this is a clicky too, and incase you didnt notice, the Invictus and Opitmus are not clickies.. :D now lets be civil please.. if you feel that surefires are the best, this is not the place to discuss it

  • I dont call saying Im a fanboy civil, and I am fully aware that the UA2 and UB2 don't have clikies, I was refering to the Nitecore. I will not discuss this anymore on waynes video.

  • Fanboy isnt a degrogratory comment, ill admit to being a fenix fanboy if it makes you feel any better. Okay, we'll stop it here.

  • Also why are we comparing a AA light to a 2xCR123 UA2 which is a big light, for a 2XCR123 light, and the UB2 will be an even larger light. Also, those lights aren't even available yet.

  • I didn't buy it for tactical purposes, it's a great light for non-tactical things. However, you can leave it set for max output and it will always come in in max output if you leave it set for that.

  • but if you're in low mode, the only way to get max output is to twist the light.

  • Yup, a single twist to tighten, not twist one way, then twist another, as you implied.

If going from low to high is such a big deal, then don't use low, and keep it in high, or set the user defined level to max as well. Since the video I have found I can swith from low to high effortlessly with one hand.

  • Nice video!

    BTW, I´m Federal LG (CPF)

  • Thanks. Nice review.

    Oldvultureface (CPF)

  • wow,very good

  • Hi,

Where did you get your glow in the dark tail cap? It's not off of a Jetbeam is it?

    Thanks

  • It's a GITD tail cap from dealextreme.

  • Awesome, thanks.

  • Hi there fella, are you on CPF?

  • I sure am! :) I'm WadeF on CPF.

  • eheheh I'm Tachikoma there ^_^
