  • this is hilarious!!!! hahahaha

  • A film that some people just can't seem to get.....which to be honest is beyond me?

  • Aw bless Ray.

  • So this is where David Williams got his inspiration for the teacher in Little Britain

  • Bloody hilarious! Poor Ray. Comedy gold :)

  • Two people don't want to see the zoo

  • Am i missing something? This is so NOT funny.. I waited for something funny to happen, but it never came. This is 3:31 i'll never get back, made worse by the time i spent typing this.

  • Charlie Brooker sent me here. So I killed him.

  • This film is an acting masterclass. Fantastic! :)

  • so british...so funny :)

  • "money isn't everything when you're in love, is it Candice-Marie?"

    "No, Keith"

Keith's a strangely likeable egotistical monster in the line of David Brent or Mr G from Summer Heights High, so I think there are still people trying to show people as they are on TV even today.

"D'you have a girlfriend, Ray? ..." Why does that come across as nastily accusatory? Very clever.

  • HAHAHAHAHA i feel sorry for Ray this is british comedy at its best !

This should have far more veiws!

  • Excruciating

  • "Well, I chant a bit, you know..."

    "What, madrigals?"

    :D

  • if i went out with keith if i was candice marie i would throw him off the cliff in dorset with his fossils nuts in may a brilliant film i never laughed so much keith was so neurotic mike leigh you are brilliant love junysawrus

  • I remember watching this when it was first shown on television and it is ageless, there are so many contradictory, paradoxical socially inept people like this around. I live next door to a Keith and a Candice-Marie.

  • They don't make comedy like this anymore. Brilliant stuff!

  • God, this has me in stitches every time.

  • Saw this film for the first time last year. It's brilliant. "Ray" is an excellent actor in this scene. It's like a fly-on-the-wall documentary. I cringe with him every time!

  • hahahahaha

  • the look on rays face at 3:00 is classic

  • 'Is that a Banjo?' Famous last words. I break my ribs at this film everytime.

  • he's my friend on facebook! 8D...insistes on sending me the shipping forcast every day, I live in the Pennines.

  • Watched the video again last night. Awful. Brilliant. Classic

  • Brilliant and yet absolutely awful at the same time.

    Poor Ray.

  • Heh heh. Poor old Ray.

  • @podfunk haha exactly

  • thats very good ray!!!!

    cringeworthy to the max :)

  • Just the best thing I've seen on TV for ages - pure class acting, writing and direction. Bring back Play for Today!

  • Just seen it too, absolute classic!

  • just seen it BBC4,top british film, beats a hollywood big budget, overhyped yankee blockbuster EVERYTIME.

  • Absolute Classic.....Timeless Comedy

  • This is being shown on BBC Four tomorrow night - 20 July 2010. Can't wait.

  • I believe these two were the negotiators for Raoul Moat. They didn't make it to the 3rd verse

  • Ohh, Mike Leigh.

  • comedy at its very very best.

  • wot a roar

  • Mike Leigh was so good at showing us the anguish his characters go through when they're put upon by others.

Here we see two apparently educated people with varied lofty beliefs & interests yet they just can't see a complete stranger doesn't want to sing 'I want to go to the Zoo I do, I want to go to the zoo'.

I've always looked out for a Nuts in May calender, people would buy it if it was available.

Something Mike Leigh could merchandise even now.

Abigail's party would sell like hot cakes!.

  • @blastarrbollaxIII A Nuts in May calender? YES YES YES

  • Timeless classic!!!

  • This Is one of those Classic Comedy moments that Had me In tears watching Poor ray Squiming!!

Thanks to Guccilittlepiggy1 for Shining light on this Beauty!!

  • 'Kiss Prudence Keith'....classic toe curling English humour.

  • this is SOOOO funny lmao

  • Yes, and it never EVER seems to get less funny.

  • This is pure brilliance!

  • Reminds me of the soundtrack from 'The Wicker Man'.

  • Same era, same atmosphere. No naked Bardot body doubles, though. I love the 70s. It's hard not to - from the TV to the bands, it was our last attempt at honesty.

  • Gorra Love Keith and Candice-Marie. Everybody knows a Keith and Candice-Marie.

  • @ruffledme thats exactly what i said

  • Absolutely brilliant we laughed so much, excellent timing

  • Keith is pure torture. I wonder if Candice-Marie would have got a divorce once the cynical 80s arrived?

  • NO OPEN FIRES!!!

  • Poor Ray, cringing with embaressment.

  • candice marie,,!!!!

thats one of the funniest films ever...

the way he repeats her name..! classic...

  • I've loved this film for years - well done the Beeb for repeating it and for the recent box set of Mike Leigh's tv work. Totally toe-curling - just watch the anguish on Ray's face as he's dragged through this song. I'm sure we've all come across a Keith Pratt at some time or other.

  • im crying with laughter..great

  • "I usually take the timing from Candice Marie, anyway" Absolutely priceless.

Anyone who missed this masterpiece, petition BBC4 for a re broadcast

  • or maybe just buy the dvd?
