That's a very nice bun, but not quick enough to use on a wiggly 5 yr old. Anyway, I wanted to give you a tip. I noticed you brushing the knots out of your sister's hair at the beginning. If you start brushing at the bottom and work your way up, it's less painful. Start about an inch from the ends & brush downward as usual. When that's tangle-free, go up another inch & repeat. Keep moving up the hair like this until you're brushing from the crown to the ends. Voila! Pain-free knot removal. ;)
I do this for ballet and when i spin, i have to spot. If you are spinning and ur bun comes out, next time, try using a hairnet. thats what my friend nd i use and it keeps your hair in place and catches the hair.
hey girl! just wanted to comment on your fab tutorial! it's been an inspiration and has made me look slick and polished for my competitons. I also notice that the a fellow commenter of this video is also a member of the National Figure Skating Association of Kentuky (NFSAK). Thank you again for the great tutorial, it was really very good.
thanks that helped a lot... for all my skating compotitions i could never figure out what to do with my hair sooo now i know and that also helped for ballet tooo.
That was nice, also I know you probably already know but if you can get a sock that resembles her hair color that would also help hide the fact that she has a sock bun. Just food for thought.
@zoozoo556 number one, its not dirty. they make these things called gray socks and washing machines, amazing right?? number two, don't post stupid comments on my video. kay? kay.
I do my hair like this for competitions but instead of using a sock i was a donut that u can buy at a store but a sock is a cool idea..i should try that one day
thanxs for all the help this really helped me learn how to do a bun and another way i learned is with alot of hair you can put like strunchies or other little hair accessories over the hair to cover the access hair up.Good Job!And i love The Friqqen Chicken SoundS!
u r brilliant omg i luv dis idea it is GREAT i like do my hair like this everyday its so neat and clean look i luv this vedio luv ur idea OMG THANKS i wud never ben able to do this witot u THANKS
Hmm why u qwit if u liked it so much? And that's cool I thoght u where crazy when I first seen the sock haha I guess not I'm going to try that on my sis haha I couldent fo it on my own hair
Nice! Just a little tip for you. When rolling the sock you should add a knee high similar to the colour of your hair. Therefore you will not see the white from the colour of your sock. Also it will eliminate dryness as well. Roll the sock with the knee high underneath and roll it inside out so you end up with the knee high on the outside of course. ;)
I tried this, it works great! i used a thinner sock and although my hair is thick, it worked better for me. after i wrapped all the excess hair around and secured with bobby pins I put a bun cover over top, and it looked really neat and tidy. thanks for the video!
i tried this and it worked i loved it the only thing was i braided the extra hair and then wrapped it around instead on the taking strands .
and my mom came up with the idea of useing two baby sox and doing the buns smaller with the braid again wrapped around . maybe you could try that one two
this video was super helpful! i have a competition in 2 weeks for the National Figure Skating Association of Kentucky.(NFSAK). Thanks again for the great vid!
i also have long hair, so i was always afraid to do a sockbun. but this video showed me what i can do with the left over hair, so thanks, i'll try it now ;)
i lost my "braid" hair tie recently and i couldnt do a bun, last night i watched this video and tried the sock in my hiar and....IT WORKED thx so much! i wore it for school and told my friends about the sock, lol
This video is really cool great job, but there are actually these things that they sell now that are foam donuts that you can also put on to make your bun if anyone is interested.
that is a very interesting way to do a bun:] i will try this next time i have a competition... not sure it will hold when i do a jump though because i guess you dont wrap the rubberband around or anything. but ill figure it out:]
It works really well during competitions, chimchar. :] Even while doing axels! :)) Especially through those tough spins. Like, the backscratch and layback. :D
alright bravo!!! i am doing this for my next competition i am doing my first ever intermediate short program AND I AM SCARED!!!!!!! im gonna do my hair like this but have some spikes sticking out because i am doing the song requim for a dreamand i want my air to be somthing that people will notice :) thanks for your help !

depending on how short your hair is my skating team does the sock thing but instead of twisting the hair we put hair nets over the top and then a scrunchie that matches our outfits....dont know if that helps any?
oh my gosh that is so creative and cool! when you first said sock i though maybe that was some weird word for a bun cover... but then you took out an actual sock and i was like what? lol that's SO cool i wanna try that for my ballet class but i only have knee-high socks, so that wont work too well... lol
Girl, all my friends have been doing that for years. And its much easier when your hair is not that long because then you won't have as much hair leaking out. That's called a donut bun. And if your iffy about using a sock, they have bun makers at any beauty supply store.
seriously? then i must be living under a rock or something because i have never ever seen that before! lol i always wondered how people did that hair style. But it doesnt matter cus my hair is pretty long so i guess it wouldn't work anyways :(
omg this is soo smart !
