Weller toured TSC in Australia in '85 and we saw them in Melbourne. This clip is from Countdown where Paul and MIck also hosted the show introducing other bands in a very put-down and sarcastic sort of manner. When they were interviewed themselves, they were both quite 'unserious' about the whole thing.
I've got all of it on an old VHS somewhere, including a live show from ABC TV's 'Rock Arena' which was a bit more in depth. I recall Weller talking for about 30 minutes about this and that.
This song always makes me touches me. I love Paul Weller and Style Council and this whole mod scene. Canada Loves You Weller. Your the soundtrack for my coming of age, thanks so much.
If memory serves etc this was when they toured in 1985 and co-hosted Countdown (similar to Top of The Pops in terms of a weekly music/chart show but there was a regular host Ian 'Molly' Meldrum at the helm).
The Style Council were never as popular in Australia as, say, Duran Duran or Spandau Ballet but they garnered a bit of a following with both 'Cafe Blue' and 'Our Favourite Shop' and the subsequent tour.
That bit in the second verse where he sings, "I - thought I need only call and you would run" never fails to send a shiver down my spine... Man, I love this song...
Jesus i really wanted to bang dee c lee back in the day. I remember always looking out for her but the cameraman always seemed to focus on a rather camp Paul Weller - maybe its true what they say about people working in TV and being gay!

Weller loves the screaming girls! Great clip. Funny to see Dee C Lee miming to Tracie Youngs backing vocals.

I wish he'd got off his soap-box for once and released this in the UK instead of Come to Milton Keynes.
Nice to see a rare clip, were they big in Oz ?
