@flute1234 i hope you do realize that this is to be able to train when there is no other person around, this is by no way enough to be able to defeat an opponent
@flute1234 well most grandmasters, atleast the older hong kong and chinese grandmasters, were involved in streetfights, there are some wing chun schools that have tournaments. They do train with other people though, atleast as far as i know they do, but real combat is no longer part of it, atleast not officially. It might be that in for example Hong Kong they still have illegal streetfights, i dont know
@flute1234 shows that you have absooooooolutely no idea of what you are looking at or talking about, but you could not surpress a comment like this...very sad!
@R2Magnum Well you seemed to comment the first time so whats the problem? Shows that you have absolutely no idead of what you are looking at or talking about, but you could not supress a comment like this...very sad.
this - yeah - the movement is good - but when master wang bangs the dummy - it is good for fighting and self-defense - if you "clash" with the opponent especially -
Master wang zhi peng is probably worlds best wing chun master, he can tech you everything from philosophy to combat, i would really like to learn wc from him, do you guys maybe know where is he now??
the wooden dummy is pretty heavey so it is impressive yes. yes wooden dummies can be trained on soft or hard depending on power/speed/or accuracy demonstration. and yes it could be rooted but in the art of wing chun you have so much power in your punches - punching a rooted dummy would harm you internally or permanentaly... And i agree, i think he is amazing! - THANKS FOR THE VID!

@marcsl1974 i know, i was just trying to be funny. Wang Zhi peng is a former Bruce Lee student so immediately the comment from enter the dragon kicked in :).
this wooden dummy is not rooted, it's set on a shined floor, so it would move if they weren't it for him, pressed against the stairs. imagine punching an unsupported makiwara. he'd be wasting his time. it looks like he's doing a lot more than he was with regard to power.
first you start off slow and soft to get the mechanics right. later on, the wing chun wooden dummy is used to test your strength AND your speed, it hardens nur arms and your hands, your stance and your footwork get better.. it's a dummy, you do not hit dummies soft, you hit them how you would hit a real opponent ;)
master pheng is awesome. anyone knows hom much he charges for a lessons?

What would Bruce Lee say? "Wood doesn`t fight back" .

@mepooloo, hey man. The wooden dummy is a training for correcting your movements. It's not just punching the wood. :)
