Adults can chose their own path in life, but responsible parents shouldn't allow their children to become obese, for the obvious health reasons as much as anything else. I do feel very sorry for this girl.
However, I think there must have been other causes for her sadness, besides the actions of the family who harassed her online. It's hard to believe that a girl who was happy and mentally healthy in other ways would suddenly commit suicide over comments she received online.
