This game finally opened my eyes to the fact that "exciting and skill based pvp" actually revolves around sound, solid game mechanics instead of full corpse looting/free for all pvp, these sort of servers just attracts teh armpit of the mmorpg community to them.
Looked alot better than i thought it would as it happens, some will really enjoy this game, others wont, im in the latter catagory.
and if you say "yes it is how he wants to play his character" then you probably give too much credit to the gamer douche as well. When's the last time YOU logged on to a roleplaying-only server because you just wanted to "play your character"? Or did you get in that pvp and see how many "n00bs u culd pwn"? Open market products don't attract the elite communities. They attract "n00b pwnrs". Private server is the only way you're going to get a good experience out of any MMORPG that is this open.

The only problem is that this gives the average douchebag power gamer too much credit. it assumes that restraint will be commonplace and outlaws will be less common than non-outlaws. Well as we've seen from previous open pvp games.. the only difference between that guy thats eyeing you being an outlaw or a non-outlaw is only determined by how good the gear your holding is, NOT by how he wants to "play his character".
There's also a reason people stopped playing diablo one. It is this: When there's no deterrent for getting PK'd that's what the game becomes... a never ending shitfest of highly skilled, cheeto stained, basement nerds endlessly waging war on the weak little nobodies and looting their corpses, and as soon as someone powerful is produced then everyone (and their gear) is fair game. I remember the endless times in Diablo one where i JUST got that GOOD sword..... you know the rest.
15 minutes day and night to make sure no one is sacking your kingdom, burning your ships, and taking over your empire. I mean... yea... you can "hire npc's" to defend it... but if you've looked at any player vs. environment combat in ANY game then you KNOW the player cleans house.

My problem is this: You build a town, you build an empire, you build a legion of ships, and then log off. There's only two things that can logically happen. All you young guys, don't know of a game called "Ultima Online" Which was and still is (UOGamers Hybrid) the appitimy of open world.
Darkfall is a copy n paste of UO. Which is fine, but dont pretend this wasnt done before, because it was.
People liked WoW better because their is a NO RISK system. When you get killed in UO or Darkfall and get your butt looted clean, you'll understand why its so frustarting.
I still play UO, but its a rough Love/Hate relationship.
diablo II is similar in that when playing hardcore mode, if you get killed you could also be looted. I enjoyed that!! Makes you play alot more careful and with more skills.

WoW is a clone of Everquest. Wow was never anything original buddy. Darkfall is trying to rescue MMO players from the EQ style of gaming and introduce us to something new. Something WoW didn't have any interest in doing except take MMO gaming a step backward.
Darkfall and WoW is really two diffrent game styles.. WoW is more like lvling a char and make it as good possible and kill monsters while Darkfall is a free world to do almost anything you want.. Like make a city and besige others or be ap irate and make a camp/harbour on a island and plunder cities and ships!

If someone kills you or you die you lose everything on your body, you must go back to your grave and loot your self before someone else does. I like to be able to come home & sit back and eat some fries and enjoy a meal while I grind in a MMO Darkfall you must have 2 hands on the keyboard and be ready at all times, the mobs are hard to kill and will chase you for a mile so if you attack a mob its fight or die. Then on top of that you have to keep on your toes because random ppl will attack you... If you have alot of other stuff going on in the room then Darkfall can become fusterating and make u wanna scream! I perfer UO,SB or WOW

Mobs don't follow you at all. Play along side a group, it's a huge benefit in DF. If you like grinding levels like in WoW, don't waste your time here.

official release date for this game is 25th Feburary in EUROPE. on 22nd January there will be an open beta where a couple thousand will be able to join. this is OFFICIAL.
There hasn't been any mention of open beta. The game releases in 11 days, January 22nd, in Europe. Hopefully NA players will be able to connect to and not be IP blocked like with some games. Here's hoping.

No open beta, from what i have heard its going to be a server stress test. And yes a lot of people will get to join this beta but only on invite. And again all invitees are not allowed to say that they are in beta.

Whatever case it is, you're not right. Servers has already been tested with massive amount of clients connected and estimeted for 15k+ players online with still huge reserve. The client itself has been already tested on many platforms all around the world and is in the process of further testing during the open beta. Less crashes than, for example, WoW or LoTRO.

Who cares, I want it like that. I think it's amazing. Doesn't need to be changed. Although I wouldn't mind them patching it up a bit, because my pc is a beast and wouldn't have any issue but I don't think you will need over the top graphics with something that has this great of gameplay.
Looks good so far. Real time combat ftw. No lazy botting people around. Hopefully the combo possibilities for combat will be plenty and the physics engine one that's never been experienced before.

WoW is a clone of Everquest. Wow was never anything original buddy. Darkfall is trying to rescue MMO players from the EQ style of gaming and introduce us to something new. Something WoW didn't have any interest in doing except take MMO gaming a step backward.

Darkfall and WoW is really two diffrent game styles.. WoW is more like lvling a char and make it as good possible and kill monsters while Darkfall is a free world to do almost anything you want.. Like make a city and besige others or be ap irate and make a camp/harbour on a island and plunder cities and ships!

gaining skills like str dex and sword skills etc. Takes alot of time you have to hack away on mobs to gain skill points and abilitys. If someone kills you or you die you lose everything on your body, you must go back to your grave and loot your self before someone else does. Whenever I die I always return to find my grave empty, there is mostyl 10-20 people trying to kill a few mobs through the world so it makes lvling tough plus the other ppl killing the mobs sometimes decide to kill/loot u

I like to be able to come home & sit back and eat some fries and enjoy a meal while I grind in a MMO Darkfall you must have 2 hands on the keyboard and be ready at all times, the mobs are hard to kill and will chase you for a mile so if you attack a mob its fight or die. Then on top of that you have to keep on your toes because random ppl will attack you... If you have alot of other stuff going on in the room then Darkfall can become fusterating and make u wanna scream! I perfer UO,SB or WOW

Mobs don't follow you at all. Play along side a group, it's a huge benefit in DF. If you like grinding levels like in WoW, don't waste your time here.

official release date for this game is 25th Feburary in EUROPE. on 22nd January there will be an open beta where a couple thousand will be able to join. this is OFFICIAL.

There hasn't been any mention of open beta. The game releases in 11 days, January 22nd, in Europe. Hopefully NA players will be able to connect to and not be IP blocked like with some games. Here's hoping.

There is no IP block for NA players as stated by them, game has also been pushed back until the 25th of Feb, there is an extended beta, NOT open beta starting in 2 days, they are allowed thousands more players to join the beta,which doesn't sound a lot as more than 100k people signed up for the beta

No open beta, from what i have heard its going to be a server stress test. And yes a lot of people will get to join this beta but only on invite. And again all invitees are not allowed to say that they are in beta.
Then the pre-order can be bought halfway februari from which I after 5 years of waiting hope not be delayed again.

Whatever case it is, you're not right. Servers has already been tested with massive amount of clients connected and estimeted for 15k+ players online with still huge reserve. The client itself has been already tested on many platforms all around the world and is in the process of further testing during the open beta. Less crashes than, for example, WoW or LoTRO.

Looks good so far. Real time combat ftw. No lazy botting people around. Hopefully the combo possibilities for combat will be plenty and the physics engine one that's never been experienced before.

exactly, people are already claiming this to be the best MMO ever, i find it funny because every year a new mmo comes out and the hype around it is so high, that people play it and realize its not what they expected and it fails, which is exactly what this game will do. though i do hope it will be good, i doubt it.
