This presentation brought a tears to my eyes as Jeannine is my name, and my mother named me so because of this movie she saw when she was young. I was the last of six children, and now that she is long gone I still revel in the memories of her playing her piano and myself singing this beautiful song, as well as many others that we sang. Thank you so much for bringing back those wonderful childhood memories!!!!!!
I have a copy of the sheet music laying around somewhere, I'll have to learn it for organ now! Velazco's playing seems a bit jerky here (especially in the beginning), but his arrangement of Liebestraum was great and I might do an arrangement, and I'm considering doing something like it as well. As some have said, very charming!
I have a copy of this sheet music given to me as a child. I used to dance on skates to organ music and this really made me yearn to skate again! Was named after this show tune in 1946 but had never heard it. What a treat!
Thank you so much. What a treat for me. I was named after this show tune in 1946 and was given the sheet music shown in this video as a child. Unfortunately, no one had a piano..so I'd never actually heard the song. I used to dance on skates to organ music and so enjoyed the beautiful melody. I yearned to skate again!!!
What a handsome presentation! What a nice surprise to discover another 20s theater organist! Mr Ferris sounds like he was a very polished theater organist and able to accompany a vocalist well, another plus. Look how young Gary Cooper is! Just great! Very enjoyable. Thanks so much Bob!
@2reeler Thanks but nothing fancy here. I am really limited on time these days and have not been able to experiment much. Nobody noticed my morph on my Aileen Stanley post the other day.
Beautiful song "Lilac Time", well performed with my favorite organ. Our "Maytime" was with floods, hurricanes, tornados, not seen from long time. It is important to not lose the spirit isn't it?
I include this nostalgic piece to my favorites, greetings - Elżbieta
