  • Pink is the closes thing to Janice I've ever heard she's talented out the waxy but only Janice could do bony maverick right. Good job though and props to pink

  • If you want a great Pink cover tune. Check her out doing Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody.

  • There is only one Janis Joplin. She had a voice nobody can duplicate. Crystal Bowersox covered Janis way better then this performance by Pink. I love Pink as a singer, so don't get me wrong. But there's only one Janis Joplin, Stevie Knicks, Freddy Mercury. Those voices cannot be duplicated. However George Michael does a great Freddy.

  • Best Interpretation of "Me and Bobby mcGee" yet. the differece with Janis . is that Janis bleed with every song. She gave it all. But Pink....have the perfect voice for it ( The song)

  • She should sing with the remaining members of the original Big Brother and The Holding Company.

  • It amazes me how people try to find some

thing wrong with everything. P!nk is the best

original singer of our time. P!nk has grown

    into one beautiful person.

  • Sounded just like Janice! P!nk is amazing!

    We love you P!nk!

  • Gives great homage to one of the most incredible songs of American--a tremendous and loving rendition by talented singer

  • amazing cover of this song, pink should be proud of herself for having done the job she did singing it.

  • so effin perfect

  • Pink is a talented singer, but is also a disgusting ugly skank

  • @fergster11 - Just curious.....What's your evidence of this remark? How well do you know her? How much time have you personally spent with her to actually have this opinion? As I said, just curious.

  • @TheLorrieRocks

Your right, a bit harsh. Pink, I apologize. My personal dislike of her does come from watching her biography, and interviews. She comes off as trashy and cheap and flaunts that image. On the other hand, that seems to be prevelant in the majority of current music, so maybe it's just status quo.

  • @TheLorrieRocks Well said to @fergster11...Some people tend to open there mouths before they put there brain in gear !!!!

  • @fergster11 And who crowned you an authority??

  • P!nk! Girl you make Janis proud!!!

  • @Dragonflyy826 and I suppose Janis was the prettiest thing you ever laid eyes on??

  • I always always love Janis best, but truly enjoy Pink's rendition as well. To tell the truth wouldn't mind this song a bit if even my o-workers started singing it! It really is a great sing along song. And Pink does seem to enjoy singing it too!

  • HErmosa Simplemente hermosa

  • janis would b very proudxx

  • Very good!

  • Bitchen

  • Best!!

  • ick

  • Pink, you continue to amaze me. This song is an anthem for many, many generations of Americans. Reinventing it would be foolish. Can anyone do it better than Jamis? NO! Thank you for doing it with the honor that it deserves. Listening to you sing it reinvokes all the emotions that we felt when Janis sang it, without insulting us with a tawdry version that is a fraction of the original. Thanks for honoring all of us, especially Janis.

  • She lost me when she couldn't pronounce Baton Rouge.

  • btw.. Who's bobby mcgee???

  • @travismassar Janis Joplin.

  • Man! How great is Pinks voice! Such a great cover of Kris's song

  • wtf is bane rouge... battonrouge......

  • You get this response with many covers... music is about interpretation and SOUL which a lot of people fail to understand. There is no RIGHT oir WRONG way of doing music it is like art.. and no two pieces are the same or even the same style! Janis covered this song from someone else.. no-one is truly original! Pink does a great job, the only criticism is of the guitarist (Justin?) he is a bit heavy/clumsy/loud on the chords - drowns her out a bit at times..

  • I think did a good job and there are some hard notes to hit in this song! So many negative nancy's lol. I love Pink's version. All we can do is remember fallen artisits and sing in memory of them.

  • not bad, not bad at all....nice version....she did what Brittany spears could only wish to do herself !

  • ook goed haha

  • Fantastisk versjon, så naturlig og bra :-)

  • Crystal Bowersox is much better

  • you all seem to forget that Janis did not have a "perfect" singing voice, and the fact that when Pink sings her songs I get goosebumps is the only measure of talent that I need. Janis I'm sure, is quite happy and proud that we all care enough to care.

  • @chimeracrusher Janis had a fucking amazing voice!!

  • @Muffin801 but she hadlots of squeeks and inpoerfections which MADE it good!

  • @chimeracrusher If you listen to some of Janis' live stuff you'd be surprised how she sings! The "raido" songs and the "fixed up" Cd's are alot different. Go GIRL!

  • Oui... une autre fois.... l'une de mes femmes .....à voix..

  • almost as good as sex... (almost) her and the guitarist totally got that song right.

  • Shit just Got Real

  • My mom does it similar but WAY better, has been for years since the 60's!

  • God Bless you Pink....Keep rockin girl!!!!!!!! We love you!

  • grosss she fucked up the song completly... fuckin bitch. theres no like Janis in the world, and will never be. she definitely has been no' 1.

i still dunno what she decided 2 immitate her so badly?????

  • @royroy95 wait.. a musician paying tribute to their favorite artist? say it isn't so!! i mean.. who would do something like that, right?

  • @Damnedevil1 Yeah i guess u r right.. but why crap up the song like that? lol seriously that Pink she has no voice at all and that's my personal opinion. some ppl might like her (dunno why), but if like an atrist that diesn't mean u have 2 try 2 immitate him!!!!!

  • @royroy95 *if somone likes

  • @royroy95 PERSONAL would be the operative word here.. agree 100% with the guy above that the AOL session version she did was 1000x better.. but she has AMAZING range.. unbelievable vibrato.. can hold a key with the best of them.. and if you actually LISTENED to her instead of commenting (pure assumption here going off of what you replied) she actually DOES sound like Janis.. it isnt that she's trying to imitate her so much as they just plain SOUND the same.

  • @Damnedevil1 but as for her "crapping up a song" ... tbh.. you dont sound much of a Joplin fan either so much as someone who may have just started listening to her.. or the "parents" of her time that just "didn't get" the appeal of the wiskey-butterscotch voice. and ya.. i would say "personal opinion".. as that style has made an impact in music now for.. oh.. 50+ years. but calling it "shit"? UNDERSTAND music before you attempt to critique it, my friend.. she's pretty amazing!

  • @Damnedevil1 @Damnedevil1 Unlike what u might think, i did listen 2 Pink's crappy voice hhh singin "Me and my Bobby Mcg" not once, but twice! beieve me i know u might have thought i replied what i replied coz i hate pink, and that's hell not true! i have nothing against her, just about her bad ass voice lol u see. i'm a big fan of Janis, here in Israel there r a lot pf ppl loving her also.i didnt mean to offend her that was not my intence, sorry. but i did see this vid. a couple of time now

  • @Damnedevi AND I DO NOT THINK THEIRE VOICES R SIMILAR BLUDDY HELL NO!!!.

I TOTALLY DISAGREE. ALTHOUGH, PINK'S HUE MIGHT BE SLIGHTLY SIMILAR 2 JANI'S.

    :-)

  • @royroy95 HAVE A VERY GOOD DAY THOUGH.

  • @royroy95 youve completely missed any point ive tried to make. what i meant was you dont listen TO P!nk. you hear a song or two and pass judgement. as far as saying their voices are so different.. ya, i would say you dont know a lot about Janis either. Janis was known for her Bluesy, wiskey voice. P!nk sounds so much the same.. a producer from ABC who worked with both was the one who originally asked her to cover this song. so ya it's you, it seems a LOT of other people hear the similarities.

  • @Damnedevil1 it's fine that you don't like it. what makes us different is what makes us human. all i was saying is calling it "crap" is a personal opinion, and nowhere near the truth. have a good day my friend.. and try to not be so angry

  • Damnedevil1 Let me make my point again. 1st of all u cant tell how much i know Janis or not, coz believe me i know her not only from reading a lot about her, but also from hearing a lot of her songs, which thought me a lot about her voice as u said - blusey whisky voice hue. hh and yeah i heard a lot of pink's songs and i guess so did u. my point is not about testing theire both voices, or what abc did offer or not for Pink, i believe they knew what they was doing. just saying:

  • @Damnedevil1 for my personal opinion the result is bad. that's all and with that there is nothing anyone can argue, coz that MY personal opinion as i said. it doesnt metter if that so called producer has workes with both of them. try 2 understand my point. b.t.w i think that one of american's idol competitors, dont remember whats her name and from what season that performed with that song also did an excellent job!!! i'm in love with her performance!! just so u know man.

  • Amazing performance an interpretation by Pink! wow!!

  • I'm pleasantly surprised at this cover. She did a good job.

  • pink loves the song and would have made janis proud..

  • pink is an amazing singer....love love love her voice! such emotion...heartfelt!

  • this is good...if only she sang like this all the time. she does it much better :)

  • Did she say words?

  • i love janis joplin to death but i honestly think pink has a much wider range and better voice vocally

  • pink is amazing

  • no way, nice try.

  • g ----ddd

    lord have mercy@@

    yeah!!!

  • DAMN!!! pink you're the shit1 this is kick-ass. rok the fuck on!!!

  • She sux

  • @TheDghughes you suck!

  • This is an exact copy the way Janis Joplin sang it. Including the lalalala's and all.

She, and she alone set the standard.

All other enditions are lame, or a copy of hers.

  • @simpelmans Waylon Jennings does the best version of this song!

  • Luv you Pink! Great performance!

  • its a kris kristofferson song. fuck janis and every other version.

  • @casey7615 Kris Kristoffrson wrote this song. He wrote it for Janis Joplin. It was never his song!

  • @HelloKittyPink0517 But Roger Miller recorded it first if I'm not mistaken.

  • @HelloKittyPink0517

wrong. Roger Miller sang it first in 69. then Kenny Rogers and first edition in 69. then Jack Elliot. then Gordon Lightfoot. then Kris Kristofferson demo. Then Billy haley and his comets then sam the sham then finally Janis. so you see it was his song and was not written for Janis. She changed bobby to a guy. The grateful dead and loretta lynn did it the same year as Janis

  • @casey7615 well folx, we have our dumbass winner RIGHT HERE. CASEY7615 YOU, ARE THIS WEEK'S BIGGEST IDIOT. E'S UR SIGN.

  • This is pretty good but Pink certainly ain't no Janis...

  • I LUV PINK (today's Janis Joplin, ) what I maen, is ORIGINL, notf fake. Luv U Pink

  • Gives me chills...:-)

  • ahhhh im in love with her she is the most amazing person ever!!! pink will rock forever

  • no one can do janis joplin justis except for pink Beautiful Pink Thank you and God Bless

  • I have new respect for PINK.

  • A friend of mine said she nailed it ,he was wrong sorry

  • Thank You So Much Pink....I love you so much and Janis is one of my all time favorites...you did awesum I absolutely love it...!!!=)

  • Thank you PINK....and hey when you come to NZ...we have a bbq ready for you anytime.... love what you do to this, Janis would be proud :)

  • Making a balls of a kristofferson classic

  • Janis R.i.p but this girl is better!!!! pink kicks ass

  • @Ian9Rush BULL SHIT

  • @Ian9Rush WRONG!!!! Love Pink but seriously!? She has the passion in her voice but not the pain and anguish that so subtly defined Janis......

  • No, not this, Janis Joplin singed the best version.

This version only deserves a like, but Janis Joplin theserves love!

  • I HAD NOT HEARD OF PINK TO 2 WEEKS AGO SHE IS GREAT BUT YOU LOT DON'T SEEM TO LIKE HER FROM THE COMMENTS I KEEP READING . WHY ?

  • Pink was suppose to play the part of Janis in the movie Hollywood was making about her life.......they chose Rene Zellweger....It never got off the ground...They should have left it to Pink...She would have been wonderful....

  • ...Wow...in many ways that was better than Joplins version - brilliant Pinky!

  • She ain't Janis, but she sings it better than Kristofferson ;P

  • Pink can shout, shriek and crack her voice as much as she likes, it's just expensive kareoke and someone should put a fatwah on her for this blasphemy.

  • with out a dout one of the best cover of a great song i've ever seen or heard.pink does seem to proving time and again she's made of the right stuff and the real deal not a big headed show off, but pure talent not some of the pretenders out there.this does joplin's song justice.bravo......

  • I don't care who considers this blasphemous: Pink is every bit as good as Janis Joplin. Their voices are equally amazing.

  • @devangelis I love this song. And I agree. She sounds just as good as Janis Joplin. Pink has such a versatile voice. She never disappoints me. I LOVE YOU PINK!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jmoore9able I can understand how people who remember Janis (she died before I was born but my father was/still is a huge fan so I grew up listening to her) would have a little place in their heart (no pun intended) for the original version of this song, but it really shows one's generation gap to put down a new artist, especially when they are a legitimate talent (of which Pink is one of very few). Newer artists always face tough criticism from older generations.

  • @devangelis That is very true. I'm almost 38 and when I'm older, I wonder if I will be critical of new artists covering the artists that are famous today. I hope not. New artists that cover old songs--and do a damn good job, are really paying tribute to the original artist. It's a form of flattery. And, although, I didn't know Janis, either--I think she died before I was born (not sure), I think she would be very proud and honored by Pink's rendition of Bobby McGee.

  • @jmoore9able Yep; We are around the same age! I'm 39. Janis died in 1970 a few short years before either of us was born, and it is amazing how many people our age already have that bitter old mentality when it comes to the music that "the kids today" listen to. I don't have children, but my friends that do are always putting down the artists that their kids like, sometimes without giving them a chance. Take Lady Gaga; Yes she is flippin' WEIRD but she has a great voice.

  • Back in 1970, some people thought that Janis "butchered" Kris Kristofferson's original version, and now some people are saying that Pink "butchered" Janis Joplin's COVER song(?!) :D

I am confident that Janis would have loved Pink's interpretations of her songs. I'm not saying that Pink is a better singer, I'm just saying that she has one of the most extraordinary voices in the business today.

There is a 2002 version where Pink sounds a little less hoarse than she does here. That's my favourite.

  • @eurositi try singing this song at 7:30 in the morning! i would be a little hoarse too hehe.. but she was also a big smoker too so that may have to do with it too :-/

  • Why does this jackass think she can do justice to this song? Yuck! Pink is kaka!

  • You know I am the biggest Kris Kristofferson fan, and huge fan of Janice. Pink does this very well I'm actually surprized I would have never thought that any of the newer artist today had any soul left.

  • great job dammn pink is hot

  • so eine tolle stimme...just a little like janis:)

  • she does the best Janis ever

  • Of Joplin she expressed: "She was so inspiring by singing blues music when it wasn't culturally acceptable for white women, and she wore her heart on her sleeve. She was so witty and charming and intelligent, but she also battled an ugly-duckling syndrome. I would love to play her in a movie."

I think she did her influence justice and if Janis was alive today she would probably like Pink's version. I'm usually not into pop music but this lady has paid her dues and done it her way, respect...

  • Not Janis but not bad.

  • She's just too great! I never get tired of that voice and passion!

  • i love when she does this one. great cover of a great song

  • She is so NOT janis joplin...nothing even close

Pink doesnt sing with as much soul. janis pumps all her heart into her songs

  • @cmwiesner1 Coke will help with "feeling the music", that's for sure.

  • Pink is janis minus the shine, smack and syphilis.

  • Excellent. great talent without unwanted fanfare.

  • wow...lovin' the original...but this one's f***in' good !!!!

  • this is better than the jannice...just one ashole vew..

  • @68bigl jannice?

  • It's like Janis was reincarnated into P!nk herself. Love her! <3

  • That was very good! keep up the good work young lady maybe someday you might make it in show business. awsome Pink! really Good!

  • eh, was ok... sounded like pink imitating janis joplin. check out crystal bowersox's version.

  • Hey read, don't laugh at this. Just do it! Start thinking of something you really really want, because this is astonishing. • wow she is freaken awesome on this song

  • Not bad, not bad all! ;)

  • At least she is keeping the REAL music alive... I am so sick of all this RnB "kiss my tit, suck my dick" bollox

  • @BlogBitch I can't stand the RnB shit either.

  • IN MATTERS OF TASTE THERE IS NO DISPUTE

  • JANIS,OWNS THIS. PINK HAS A COPY CAT VERSION HERE.YOU CAN'T COPY SOLE

    TAKES MORE TO COME CLOSE.

  • @kushka43 Someone needs to keep a open mind. Yes Pink will never be what Janis was, but Pink did a hell of good job on this song. Her voice suits this song very well.

  • @slowgls

Pink commented herself on the need to get this more practiced.

There is a real difference between an artist at his best and just delivering a song.i am in the record business

and there are hours of retakes before a song is ready for distribution.Perhaps Pink will perfect the phrasing

of Bobby McGee ,but for now Janis Joplin is the Gold Standard for the tune. If you love it the way it is, so be it. We live in a democracy, all opinions are good.

  • @kushka43

I totally agree that Janis will ALWAYS own this song! It was so very personal to her. And to Joplin lovers, this may seem a bit offensive. But you have to admit, Pink did not try to alter in any way and her voice and delivery was truly amazing! All good music comes from the SOUL....good artists wanting to sing it again, 30 yrs. later, only makes it that much better! Janis Joplin will always live on for that fact!

  • she has the perfect voice for this song.

  • U R sweet chick but do me a favour and ....don't do Janis please.

  • She hit that shhhhh....... damn!!! I was a little skeptical, but she wailed!!! HIGH FIVE PINK!!!

  • Pink just got it down. She's the least pretentious artist out there. She honors old school and lives for today. You rock girl.

  • Actually last quesstion was for joplin2721, was a little HINT...but

  • I love this song :)

  • I reckon P!nk is the only person who can do this song and make sound so Awesome as it is

  • She Is Amazing

  • I'm usually not a fan of pink but she sang this really well I gotta give her props

  • Seems our Pink has inherited Janis' excellent vocal skills!! GREAT JOB, Pink!!!

  • I love Pink, there is no one could have done this song as close to Janis, but No One will ever be as good as Janis wass!

  • I dont mean to sound like a music douche but does anyone realize that Janis didnt even write this song?

  • @ToxicMayo8 Yes, anyone who knows anything about music knows that Kris Kristofferson wrote this song. Don't assume everyone is dumb.

  • @ToxicMayo8 Toxic do u realize the difference between stupid, dumb and ciminally dumb? Let me know when u catch up,well, if u live that long.

  • @FahQBB Jesus christ, Did I say anything dumb? No. I am pointing out a fact that many people do not know and as evidenced by many of the comments here, neither do a lot of these people.

  • great cover but u cant smile when ur singing this song... listen to the soul of janis does she sound happy when she sang it

  • Wow, if You didn't look at the video you would swear it was Janis!

  • @lockyman58 your right dude they both sound alike it brings tears to my eyes

  • Forgot to mention this song brings me tears hahahaha my moment of weakness as a man lol

  • Yes Pink does a good job of singing this song, I have heard of other Pink songs and enjoy lol

  • Pink it is a great Performence and the best cover of Janis Jopplin! Im 55 and I still listen to the old recorts from Janis, good old memories never die.

  • well done..

  • Excellent, artist that didnt die at 27.

  • @finland2012 Joplin didn't use any special effects.. didn't try and up tempo it.. she was just Janis sitting in front of a mike. That's why Joplin songs never sound like half arse country songs ... like this insulting version

  • Pink does an excellent job with this song, she does sound just like Janis. Janis sounds like she was reincarnated in Pink with this one!

  • she does a nice job too. Wonder if she isn't trying to 'sound' like Janis. What would Janis sound like singing pink? Prolly still sound like Janis.

  • Considering that she's covering the Janis version, that's a pretty good job imo. Will never equal the janis version, but hey, who could anyway ?

  • wow! i never expected her to sing a song like this this well!!!

  • wish there was a "LOVE" button.

  • @bluegrasssingingman I like it and since you dont i'ts ok with me. If you dont like Pink why are you here?

  • @wandaintexas Hey I wanted to here this version. I'll go where I want and comment where I like.

  • @bluegrasssingingman . Yes you are correct You can go where you want and comment where you want. You dont need to reply to others when you voice your opinion but you involved me in your comment. I'm here to enjoy the music and I dont want to be bothered. You dont need to involve other people when you comment, which is my point.
