  • Well well well looks like this "Crazy Hippie" was on to something who would of thought people that explore their consciousness would have something to add to society. The squares are sinking the ship people.

  • L.S.D.:TImothy Francis Leary

    hello??? same initials?!?!?

  • This is an eye-opener. Particularly interesting are the predictions made by Dr. Leary. In 1988, a year he spotlights, my family and I moved to a commune in Vermont. This was because of our disillusionment with the American Dream, and also with institutional religion. This was expected by Dr. Leary and other counter culture prophets.

  • great interveiw. the interveiwer could hold his own with o leary and thats tuff.very interesting disscusion.with alot of important topics.cant say his drem ov the future turned out the way it did.but the future 30 years from now will be alot different to any expectation.p.s. take lsd :)

  • That new kind of society with robots doing all the work they are talking at at ~30min reminds me of the Venus Project. People if you think it made sense you should look into the zeitgeist movement and venus project.

  • @KvalnirFox I wonder if the robots are going to take over the factories in the future? Do you THINK they will!! Let me know what u THINK about that!?

  • @72lights Sure. Robots are already doing most of the factory work and there are more and more robots everyday on the service sector also. Thats the direction we are heading.

  • thank you 'haroldchanner' for an awesome upload!

  • So he steals Hubbard Tech from Scientology and he thinks hes some kinda hero ? hes a Qwak and a fraud

  • LSD fucks you up

    But what a ride!

  • LMAO..... "Work ---> Robots ... Human --> Performance. No? You don't agree? They got you hahahah. I love the humble and funny Mr. Leary.

  • He was too ahead of his time, this world needs a couple of Timothys right now.

  • @CyberFad I think there have been some but the state of oppression has become so great as to nip them in the bud.

  • Nixon WAS a asshole!

  • brilliant interview. what happened to this eloquence?

  • I love Mr. Leary but his view of evolution as being linear is wrong.

FELICIDADES Mr Leary

  • 56 minutes and 40 seconds of pure groundbreaking philosophy!

  • It seems only certain people can get the true message from entheogens. most people I know take them just to "get fucked up" and never seem to gain an ounce of insight. The people who refuse to look at the message of the trip ("you are nothing/everything/egoless") have bad trips.

  • @CrushJehovah And RIGHT THERE we hit the crux of the "Human Condition".

Most people like to trip because it brings them back to the source for a while. They never do it like Leary suggests. They don't bring shit back into the NORMAL world.

But feel blessed for those who do.

I'm tripping right now, by the way. :D

Find your trippy family, also like Leary suggests. They're waiting for you out there somewhere :D

  • LSD certainly didn't fuck this video (quality) up, lol.

  • lsd as a tool, not as an escape

  • Harold Channer? Wow, very very good program host. First time i've heard of him. It's nice to have someone intelligent and open-minded on tv.

  • @emptyhighways I totally agree. His intelligent input really hances the flavour of this wonderful interview

  • who is the moron interviewiing leary? what a jerk he can't even get his head around the concept of no working!

  • From what Iv read, the Merry Pranksters were much more to blame than Dr Tim. Tim shouted the message but the pranksters drove around the States with a bus turning on millions!

  • Channer is such a douche. He tries so hard to sound smart and ruins ever single interview.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrThule Why remove?

  • @ChocolatePoop1301 so true

  • 39:00 how amazing he says we are Americans and not Czechoslovakians and here we are today where Rick Simpson had a march in the Czech Republic where over 12,000 were marching in the streets and here in NY we are just trying to get a measly thousand to a trial in Kingston, NY which I say could be the best laboratory for truth if people want to know more about the "science" behind the cancer cure!

  • 34:00 "all these systems are run by men who don't work" Harold becomes very apologetic and then Tim Leary says ....oh of course I'm offering freedom! ha-ha great!

  • Such a relief to see him talking with someone who encourages Leary to speak his mind.

  • VERY GOOD!!!

  • and big up to the other guy getting that information out of tim

  • @manchise finally someone not giving tim a hard time

  • what a great interview. there were many sides of tim indeed.

  • How about you try doing over 2000 interviews and not want to have a conversation eventually! Channer does a good job here I think, its a lot more personal. Wouldn't you have wanted to talk to leary like this?

  • Turn on, tune in, and drop out.

  • hahaa I love how it goes blue and says play. i miss the video days...

  • You Can't Love Nor Hate What You Don't Understand-Leonardo Da Vanci

  • sure you can. it just might not be warranted. irrational emotions occur all the time. infatuation, for instance. da vince did some things real well. but he was also a rather twisted individual (like many / most genius personalities ?).

  • leary was misunderstood.he was always saying lsd only if u can handle and have some one with u.a hero thou

  • why is everybody bashing the interviewer? he may be talkative but he is one of the few interviewers that are not against leary and his views.

  • @TheMarilynmansonfan1

you just hit the nail on the head.

    he is just talkative

  • @TheMarilynmansonfan1 I have actually talked with Harold on the phone before..a couple times. And i like the guy. However, you cant possibly not notice how often he tries to finish peoples thoughts, interrupt, and in the process ramble. Like i said, i like him..but he has his weaknesses as an interviewer. Even his personal friends will readily point that out about him.

  • St. Leary can help you expand your mind, be independent and get attention. Be careful when invoking him because he can get you arrested.

  • Why are you calling him St. Leary?

  • Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley[1], wrote that saints across various cultures and religions have the following family resemblances: 1. exemplary model;2. extraordinary teacher; 3. wonder worker or source of benevolent power; 4. intercessor; 5. possessor of a special and revelatory relation to the holy. AS A GNOSTIC, I RECOGNIZE MANY ADMIRABLE PERSONS FROM WHOM THE VEIL OF LIFE HAS LIFTED AS SAINTS. DR. LEARY, TO ME, IS A GNOSTIC SAINT, FOR HIS GREAT CONTRIBUTION TO "MODERN GNOSTICISM".

  • geez, you are so full of goo.

  • that must have been a trip for leary being interviewed like that from the side, like he was talking to someone in an awkward position

  • I love Tim Leary! Who else loves LSD too? Who's going to the Phish Festival in CA?!

  • You can tell Tim is "experienced".

  • great interchange!

  • Dr. Leary should have been buried in the wall of the Kremlin with the rest of the heroes...

  • But I like him, he's cool... and he invited Tim :)

  • robuts work people create

  • are there the subtitles?

  • this guy interviewing him is smart but somethin about him makes me wanna punch him in the face

  • haha yeah a little bit of a big mouth, that guy

  • cuz he never shuts the fuck up

  • Who does, the interviewer or the interviewee?

  • the interviewer, hes fuckin annoying, leary's cool

  • Ah, thanks, I agree.

    ;-)

  • He's obnoxious.

  • Which one?

  • The interviewer, he is in all of his interviews.

  • Thanks, I'm sure I've seen him interviewed by others.

    :-I?

  • Thanks for putting this on :) I haven't checked for a better copy yet.

  • Doctor Tim certainly opened a lot of minds :)

  • There's so far no way to determine if Tim was really collaborating with FBI or CIA. Well, I think we should suspend our judgment. Tim is innocent till proven guilty, as far as I'm concerned. And there were good reasons to believe the FBI were trying to character assassinate Tim. But hey, suspend your judgment and think for yourself!

  • Theres isnt one 'government' anyway theres all kinds of factions inside government, some of which are at odds with one another. Some of which are ruled by malicious individuals and some which are not. For supposedly having 'expanded' consciousness people seeing the government as a singular entity is fairly archaic thinking.

  • Never said government is single entity. I like Foucoult's complex power struggle picture, myself. All I wanted to say was that we don't know what happened while Tim was in prison so perhaps we shouldn't jump to any conclusions.

  • Overall, it is all part of the same game, a single entity.

  • -

Hmmmm - all these idiots saying tim was a narc and CIA agent need to eat their words.

    Time was an evolutionary AGENT.

    =

  • yeah seriously fuck those blind introverted ass holes

  • Exactly. Tim would have *never* worked in any capacity for the criminal government.

He stood for freedom and happiness...something our government (despite repeated claims) knows little about.

  • @ScientologyWisdom - When you are facing 30 years in the Federal Pen you do what you can to get the Hell out.

He gave them a lot of (by then) outdated info about then WEATHER UNDERGROUND.

The fact that the Weathermen who helped him break out were not arrested and the leaders of the WEATHER UNDERGROUND didn't surface till 1978 - 80 - so obviously Doctor Leary couldn't have given them much.

  • i wish the government was as smart as leary suggests at 39 mins

  • at 32 mins in- that is true, is there any real reason that we NEED to work ourselves to death when we could just wallow in peace, love and happiness

  • tim is a genious

  • Leary is like a child genius with fascinating viewpoints.

  • He was well ahead of his time. It's odd looking at something that took place so many years before the awakening that's going on now and all the information that's coming out.

  • Tim: Blame it all on my Irish genes

    Interviwer:Yeah...YEAH

    LOL

  • Great show, and how rare to see someone speak sense on Tv.

    Thanks for posting

  • "the catarpillar can never fathom the butterfly"

  • LSD unfucks u up, u fuck yourself up

  • that's beautiful. like sweet poetry.

  • @kundalini76 But you must be fucked up to fuck yourself up. So no harms done there!

  • @kundalini76 .... lsd is just a drug

  • @glitchesandglitter watch?v=kCIqFAdI6eI

  • VERY GOOD!!!

  • "" We are Flying in the teeth of some heavy duty systems" 34:05 So funny lmao

  • funny little man this interviewer is....

  • don't try to be different, just act urself and it might so happens to be considerd different

  • wasnt flashbacks published in 1988 and not 1984? correct me if im wrong

  • according to wikipedia, 1983 it was published...

  • these interviewer interrupts this guy alot

  • That embrionic membrane is mentioned in Mythology. The quarantine Earth. Which should tell us that its been there for thousands of years, and that No ONE can leave this planet, and therefore we never went to the Moon.

Look it up before replying with some obscene comment. Remember your level of expression exposes your level of intellect.

  • Your pathological level of certainty reveals the huge and disturbing scope of your fallacy and downright gullibility. No offense intended!

  • BTW Tim was one of the most influential and liberating/healing minds I ever encountered, I love the man - I just don't believe everything he says without question. 'Think for yourself, question authority' That means question HIS authority too. Sure no-one can leave this planet physically without a craft of some kind, or did the Apollo crews just go there by astral projection? Anyway I dont have a clue what you are talking about - 'embrionic(sic) membrane' sounds like 'mythology' to me. Peace

  • Bill Hicks was good too...

  • 56:40 min. !!!!

  • Yeah, (actually before I say anything I'm posting a disclaimer to any nobodys - u kno who u r, if u really r, it concerns - this is nothing to do with you, it is not about you, it is my passion alone, So no more Mr Nice Guy, just f off if u don't like it)anyway sorry to distract from the focus; but Tim is the man as far as I'm concerned the knowledge imparted is awesome, and not just the drugs, i'm talking the theory stuff - Esp. neuro-politics, neuro-terrestrial geograhpy etc wow!

  • Timothy was a great man.

  • thank you for sharing this

  • it is so interesting to compare the behaviour of dr. leary at trap interviwes and friendly interviews like this one

in those trap interviews, he was usually concentrated on fighting against the interviwer, to protect himself, and doesnt say any of his theories at all

in friendly interviews, tim is more clear and looks less "insane", much more logical, which im sure he was during his whole life, and a lot of interest points of view and concepts , which is the actual objective of the interview

  • ya and those trap interviews they just want to talk about how he did drugs and what it did to other teens which has nothing to do with what he represents. He represents theories not drugs and LSD

  • Very nice. Priceless stuff..

  • Tattoo jack is not wrong at all the revolution will not be on youtube but on the other hand youtube is part of the revolution so nothing is white or black everything is grey ;) hands togethers friends if you took the time to watch this vid we share some basic ideas so dont fight , organise. My spelling suck? i know my first language is french but if you like so much methodology you missed the point here.

  • @patnais102 ok let's do it!

(yes yes late reply but this is youtube you have to get used to that shit)

so where /how/ when do we do it?

I say welfare as an available option for all citizens of the world, if they personally wish, undermining mean ness and fascism

    pressure govts

    spread the word

    : )

  • Thanks a lot.

  • Good job brother Harold.

You were right when you said a human life begins at conception.

1 billion abortions every 20 years worldwide. THere is going to be blowback. People get ready!!

  • what revolution tattoojack? the revoltion is a revolution of thinking and Leary loved the internet so why turn you tube into a bummer? it allows flow of information and debate and gives people chance to share ideas, view great clips like this and learn. you dont have all the answers man. no one does.lose the ego man

  • genius

  • his predictions are a couple decades off, but right all the same. Tim Leary is a genious

  • leary has a great philosophies on psycology, i am completey like him. attitude wise.

  • psychology

  • i love remarks and opportunities to progress from helpful people. thnx

  • hey tattoojack79 you are the biggest douchebag of them all! first off it's spelled criticizing , not critisizing , so I guess you are in the half that can't spell, second, you are criticizing people for criticizing, yeah that makes sense...you arrogant, self righteous ignorant follower! you define yourself by your tattoos , just you & 1.4 billion others have tattoos , you are a real original eh!

  • wow...what a dumbass. tattoojack79 may not be an "original" because he has a tattoo. what makes you such an original to the point that you can talk shit?

  • AKIMBO61 you are criticizing someone who is criticizing people for criticizing and that is wrong. Also i am criticizing you for criticizing

tattoojack79 who is criticizing people for criticizing. This is so cool.

    Yeah i'm drunk.

Now you can criticize me so we can continue this chain reaction.

  • hahahahaha im trippin balls and reading all this is fuckin hilarious. ahh my screen seems to be melting a little...

  • My favorite Leary prediction? In the early '60s him and Richard Alpert had a time chart on their office wall that projected how long they thought it would take before the entire country of American had attained enlightenment via LSD. They projected -- with diligent psychedelic outreach -- that this goal of Total National Enlightenment would be reached some time by the late '70s.

  • The host is more adept at name-dropping other intellectuals to reinforce his credentials than being in the moment conversationally. Perhaps he was star struck.

  • the host is very resourceful. Gratitude.

  • his predictions just took a bit longer than he had expected

  • Christ that interviewer is such a tard - it wouldn't be so bad if his interruptions weren't such dull opinions. Bah.

  • i wish the person interviewing him wasnt interupting so much.

  • He's the worst interviewer in history. He looks absolutely reserved in this program. You should see his interview with Ritchie Havens.

  • Amazing video

  • Very interesting interview. Unfortunately Tim's predictions didn't come through. Alot of what he said is still hugely relevant especially in relation to the media. There is new research into psychedelic drugs and the envelope is slowly being opened, lets hope this time that people take charge and don't drop out.

  • i wonder if those who banned the use of mind expanding drugs back in the late 60s early 70s...are now the ones who secretly keep and use them for themselves? Only the privileged and elite are allowed to evolve?

  • you are right who cares jay... he country is still being run by those who were scared off by the counterculture and mind expansion generation. millions of young poeple are on the brink of a major change. its time for a change. its going to happen i can feel it.

  • just remember, those running the country also control the information (internet, too) and they are datamining key words all the time and building behavioral profiles whereever possible.

Young people are going to have to outsmart them

  • very true. its sad how much human life is monitered nowadays. Sometimes i feel more like a number than a U. S citizen

  • Terence Mckenna has wonderful things to say about that. Check it out if you haven't, plenty on youtube.

  • Glad to find such interviews on the net, but what made this one almost unwatchable was the nervous, verbose and unimaginative nature of the interviewer. I think Leary thrived most in spontaneous, discursive exchanges with groups, and not a formal, narrow one-on-one where he was bound to repeat rehearsed lines, rather than produce creative insights with others.

  • by the time todays old people die, those who are kids now will know what ideas to keep in society and what to throw out... thanks to the work of men like tom leary.

  • Tim

  • Fear and Hate creates the War on Drugs. Example:Exoteric branches of Christianity and Islam always suppress their esoteric, mystical members, like the Christian gnostics and Sufi Muslims as if working like robots is the sole purpose of life. Those who have tripped are some of the most insightful and productive poeple in the world because they have insight into deeper truths...karma yoga.

  • Amerika the land of the free? Like Auztralia we are always told how free we are. What a fuckin joke. Why no true freedom of religeon?I know the answer but think free anyway (We all shine on...)

  • All these comments are a tribute to people who worked towards freeing our minds from the rat race that is the present society . A socio-economic society fueled only by the drive for money which neither gives anybody real satisfaction nor gives any respect to the earth that has been a platform for man's hunger for more which in itself is a mark of a faulty system. The tribute for these great minds will be the day when America becomes in the true sense " A land of the free".

  • Good points, badartistjeff.

We need to stop treating the use of drugs as a criminal problem and begin to understand how we can USE certain substances like LSD to help us better understand ourselves.

Isn't it time that we begin asking WHY people want to take drugs?

  • Wow. A seemingly competent and informed interviewer for a change.

  • looks like i picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

  • everytime that interview guy talks im like.. shut the fuck up... and then everytime Tim talks its like go on.... keep talkin cuz your the only fuckin person that would ever talk like that and its fuckin genious.

  • These interviews with these old guys are so wonderful.

  • This is some powerful stuff.

  • how long was he in jail

  • ...but oh, they think they do. they know "that stuff". turn on tune in drop out and all kinds of symbols from media, but go buy the book of the same name and you'll never think of things the same again. i say, you may even feel a little twinge wen he says something that doesn't fit into your model of how it all is. but inside somewhere you may know its true.

all these people who really understand leary.

its a shame we're not organized.

  • wow look how many wonderful intelligent people love leary's message. its funny how out in the world, it seems like nobody knows about him. and gah!, the most aggravating part is that the ones that do know him haven't read a goddamn lick of his work to form any kind of opinion.

  • i agree--PMoore69--

people have no idea what mind clearing event that awaits them

an opening of a new reality

    peace out

  • LSD DOES NOT fuck you up you faggot. Your probably one of those stupid mother fuckers, who trip on psychedelic drugs for reasons other than learning about yourself and about nature. Timothy Leary wasn't fucked up at all. Just because his ideas sound crazy and insane, doesn't mean they are. You just may not be able to comprehend what he's saying

  • pmoore69 i give you a thumbs up, well said man

  • If one got a flawed cruthch, and was walking on it with a broken leg. And it broke.. Who/What was to blame? The person chosing the crutch? The one whom "broke its leg". Or the crutch?

Most people would like to blame the crutch.. Same with LSD ...

So easy to put ones responsability on to an unaimated thing.. Eh?

    Thanks for seeing what wrote!

"The only thing/one, that can fuck ones mind, is letting it happen!"

  • 'Turn on eternal divinity'...shame you never hear any leaders talk about stuff like that anymore - all we hear now is 'terror'. Current politicians are trying to de-evolve us into consumer robots rather than evolve us into enlightened citizens.

  • The future is hard to predict, but I think he's basically right even if a few of the details didn't come to pass in the way he has expected. I suspect things will evolve as he expects. The fact is that TPTB (The Powers That Be) have a vested interest in making sure that their authority isn't seriously threatened. It's in our best interest to evolve because evolution is survival, while stagnation and retardation will result in evolutionary elimination.

  • Dr. Timothy Leary was a great man.

  • thanks! i loved this. the interviewer was damn good at keeping tim on track too. awesome program :D

  • it should be turn on, tune in, change...what's dropping out going to help?

  • or take charge. I made that comment before i saw what the end of the video

  • Tim probably regrets saying that - he nev
