Take a look at Mike Austin who cranked out a 515 yard drive in a senior pga event in 1974 with a wooden driver, steel shaft (about 12 inches shorter then what these guys are using) and he was 64. These guys are half his age or better and using top of the line equipment and are coming up a hundred yards short.
@frasercorey i would like to know what conditions that mike hit this 515 yard drive under ( was it wind-aided?, how much roll after it landed?) etc. i can't believe that a 64 year old with a shorter, steel shafted, wooded head driver would be hitting balls on this grid any where close to where these 2 guys are hitting them.

He flew the green by 65 yards and it was an unaided 515 yard drive ( didnt hit any rocks or sprinkler heads) He was a 6 foot 4 monster who had one of the nicest swings in history. He was known for his long drives, always cranking out a 330-400 + yard drives. I agree it is unbelievable but the drive is confirmed by lots of spectators and his group.

these guys are athletes, no there not a skilled as tour players, but they have talent and generate the type of speed all you shit talkers cant even dream off.
I bet if either Bubba Watson, Mickelson, or Dustin Johnson entered this event, they'd smoke these guys. PGA tour players hit with tempo so they are actually only using 1/2 their strength and speed or 70% at most. If they really cocked their swing back and hit %100 percent the ball would go 450-500 yards

im thirteen i hit 245 average...one of my friends hit 320 uphill with no wind in a tournament right down the center of the fairway. but he usually shoots 90s hre averages like 280...all over he place though
290 at 13 is definitely possible. Kids are amazing these days. Probably not with a golf swing though. A long drive swing is different and way more powerful. In any case don't go by range markers. They are always off by 20yds plus to make you feel good.
@hungswell yes, the ball goes about 20 percent further out in mesquite. I live in florida and when I went out there you could see the ball carry a little more.

Probably not. Drives on actual courses tend to be overstated because of dog legs, elevation changes, wind, etc. On a grid you'll probably be disappointed.

For all the folks claiming they use illegal drivers, you are wrong. all drivers used in long drive competitions must be usga conforming. the only difference between the drivers they use and the pros is the length and the stiffness of shaft. and im willing to bet not many pros could hit these clubs as long or with much more accuracy
I think they do, but on the tour they have been banned and classified as illegal. Golf clubs are not allowed to have a sweet spot anymore. I use one y'day and it was piss easy to hit long!

290 at 13 is definitely possible. Kids are amazing these days. Probably not with a golf swing though. A long drive swing is different and way more powerful. In any case don't go by range markers. They are always off by 20yds plus to make you feel good.

@hungswell yes, the ball goes about 20 percent further out in mesquite. I live in florida and when I went out there you could see the ball carry a little more.

Im 16 and my average is 275 taylormade burner 10.5...so ya 290 at 11 is total bullshit...and pros hit it like 300-350 so you cant say that 275 is bad cuz that is what i would expect for a golfer my age

@Kbrown6050 Do you do long drive? If so you want a lower lofted club and longer shaft about 50 inches from toe of driver to end of grip. when I was your age my dad got me a 7 degree smt. The adams speedline is a good head and plays to its degree.

I'm 18 as well dude and I have basically the same equipment that Dewald Gouws and I've tried qualify and let me tell you it ain't easy. You got the distance but can you hit it straight and far? That's the question you got to ask yourself. Not too many 18 year old hit it long like us.

Probably not. Drives on actual courses tend to be overstated because of dog legs, elevation changes, wind, etc. On a grid you'll probably be disappointed.

He did but i did not make it through. I know this because I had my friend follow him, Dewald Gouws and Landon Colling, guys that I wanted to beat Sadlowski (I was betting against him) but when I got the text that Dobbyn didn't make it I knew Sadlowski had a comfortable cushion to the semis.

im 17and i just played at pajaro valley (Cal). It was me and my friend and on the 18th i almost drove the hole and it was a 400 yrd hole. we freaked out and so we tried to measure precisely how far it was from the pin. it was 15 to 20 yds away from the pin. We went crazy!!

It's been a long time since I was 13, but when I was 13 I hit over 290 consistently. I also hit a 5-iron consistently over 200 yards. I was lucky enough to take a lesson with a Pro (not a pro, but a Pro) and he had me swing a 5 during the entire lesson. I hit every singly shot between 190 and 210, and he commented on the value of a 200-yard 5 iron.
Now I'm just old, however, don't be so quick to cast doubt.

I worked on the St. Paul Golf Course 15 years ago and I'd see 6 year old Jamie play every day on the course. He'd hit it over 150 yards as a 6 year old!

For all the folks claiming they use illegal drivers, you are wrong. all drivers used in long drive competitions must be usga conforming. the only difference between the drivers they use and the pros is the length and the stiffness of shaft. and im willing to bet not many pros could hit these clubs as long or with much more accuracy

I think they do, but on the tour they have been banned and classified as illegal. Golf clubs are not allowed to have a sweet spot anymore. I use one y'day and it was piss easy to hit long!

Have you tried his new shaft? The House of Forged -JS- Signature Shaft is similar to the
