  • oh i love this island so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my mom and i actually got to go in the public school!!! its soo small, and only ten ppl graduated this year!

  • I love the island. Never been in the winter but amazing summers the island has to offer

  • if you are planning to go to macinac island, first stop in the city and go to a place called mama mias it is a great pizza place its the best i ever had

  • Ahhh...the music....click.

  • Thanks for the great vid! I lived on "The Island" in the summer of 1965 when I was 8 yrs old. It was a GREAT summer & great memories.

  • St. Ignace always has the dirtiest football players. Santa's going to put coal in those stockings!

  • Looks beautiful up there at that time. So what do you do up there with everything closed? Snowmobile?

  • It is beautiful, especially if it's snowing. Well we don't do a whole lot, it's a nice time to just get away and relax. Walk around, take pictures, have a nice supper, maybe go to the bar (see our other video of this years trip...lol) We love being there in the summer and we wanted to experience it in the winter too, never disappointed.

  • Hey how did you get a ferry boat to take you to the island in December? My ant and uncle live up there and they told me it freezes over and they take snowmobiles over there in the winter.

  • Actually the ferry runs until January. It's a different ferry then what you take in the summer. This one takes about 30-40 minutes to get to the island.

  • Just got back from staying at the Murray. I'll bet you had downtown all to yourself at that time of the year and 25 places trying to sell you fudge... were most of the stores closed?

  • We certainly did have the place to ourselves, it's nothing like what it is during the summer. We stayed at the Pontiac Lodge and none of the stores were open. A few of the restaurants/bars were. We've stayed in the winter before and we love it, we'll probably be there again this winter.

  • And by the way, there wasn't any fudge available...lol

  • hi charlie, hope you liked the murray, i was one of the construction workers who built the basement conference room and upper floor pool at the murray hotel winter of 1999/2000. what a long cold winter that was!!! if it was still there, i did a photo album for the pulte family depicting the construction project, and they had it on display in the lobby. amazing what after tourist season brings to the rock..... a bit of peacefulness that's hard to find anywhere else but mackatrazz!!! john h.

  • i just got back from mackinaw today

  • Great video. It certainly shows the difference between your two worlds ! Thank you for sharing.

  • i lived on the island last year for schooling

  • Thank you for sharing this. I worked on the island for 2 summers (91 & 92). The time I spent on the island is one of my fondest memories. Beautiful scenery & truly beautiful people!

  • Thank you.

  • That's really cool to see Mackinac in the winter. I work there during the summer.

  • I worked 8 summers on the Island and one winter and had a hell of a lot of fun! I am in NYC now but, am a Yooper still
