I think the best model we can adopt for guidance is the golden rule, present in every major religion and atheist ethical model: treat others as you wish to be treated. scotplaya...it takes more than prayer and going to church. First. You have to ask Christ to come into your life and forgive you of all sins. God does not answer prayers of unrepentant sinners. 2nd. You have to repent. That means turn from your old life of sin. If you can do these 2 things God will begin to work in your life.

The UN estimates that, currently, there are 14 million AIDS orphans and that by 2010 there will be 25 million. Tell that to the 1000's of brothers/sisters/parents who have lost loved ones through homosexual relationships.

I can very easily tell that to millions of orphans. Millions of gays have had children because a hostile world made them go into denial about their true natures. You also confuse homosexuality with homosexuals; it is not an indication of character. Homosexuality is what each individual makes of it. Lots of gay relationships are happy, vibrant, and productive. Remove the social condemnation, and it's proven that gays are just as happy as straights.

Homosexuality per se has nothing to do with lust. It is not instrinsically linked to any vice or virtue. It just is. Even the Catholic Theological Society concedes that it's morally neutral.
A legally gay married couple in Massachusetts recently had me over for dinner. They're been together for 21 years in complete monogamy. Both are retire priests. Are you going to reduce their bond to mere lust? What you call lust I call sexual attraction.

If Christians are so hardcore about following ALL of the Bible, why do they skip over the parts where it says Women shouldn't teach, that wearing mixed fibers or planting mixed crops is a sin, or the bit about Shrimp being an abomination? You are ignorant. A better reading of Scripture starts with the book of Genesis and the grand pronouncement about the world God created and all those who dwelled in it. "And, the Lord saw that it was good." If God created us and if everything he created is good, how can a gay person be guilty of being anything more than what God created him or her to be?("Judge not lest you be judged." Matthew 7:1)

Based on some interpretations of the Bible, homosexual acts can be considered to be immoral, but so can a lot of other things that are now acceptable. I think the best model we can adopt for guidance is the golden rule, present in every major religion and atheist ethical model: treat others as you wish to be treated. If consensual sex between two adults isn't hurting anyone, can it be considered wrong? Only if you prescribe to a specific interpretation of the Bible.
