  • I've never had a problem with silver cufflinks; never had any stains. Another point: For a formal event one should never wear a watch. As it is a formal event, you wouldn't need to be checking the time. And, please leave your cell phone off.

  • @avguy2006 For what kinds of formal events should you not need to check the time??

  • @feckingbillgates In my opinion checking your watch during a formal event could be considered rude to your host or hostess. It could be considered rude as you are checking to see how much time is remaining. If you don't have other plans, ie the formal event is your only plan for the evening, leave the watch at home and have a good "time" regardless of the time.

  • @avguy2006 What if you are running the formal event, and need to know the time because you're responsible for what happens?

  • @feckingbillgates In such a case, then a watch or timepiece would be alright.

  • @avguy2006 It was a rhetorical question, because of course I wear a watch at the events I organise. I just find it funny that you're advising people how to dress at formal events.

  • @feckingbillgates Ok, I gotcha now. I only feel the need to lend my opinion because it differs from the opinion given in the video. I work at a retail men's store, so I give out opinions all the time. I'd rather someone follow my advice and dress correctly, rather then take the video as all fact and not look "put together" or out of place.

  • @avguy2006 I think it depends on what benefits you see in it. I personally would rather think not wearing a watch, specially on a formal event gives the impression of an chaotic (missing or even forgotten accessoire), helpless (gonna need to ask the time to some1 else i.e. to know when the buffet starts, means you are dependant on others) and therefore unprofessional person. But as I said, its only my impression.

  • Should also have mentioned to never wear silver cuflinks with a white shirt as they will leave stains.
