  • This has become Honeybabysweetiedoll on the new album. If you loved this but hated that it never got released. Your prayers were just answered. :)

  • KICKAZZZ!!!!

  • there is also a riff that ended up on Get Up from 5150

  • They eventually turned this into the groove that became the outtro of "Drop Dead Legs."

  • Rock n roll used to be SO worth it!!

  • Very "Rome Delight meets Mean Streets." ish...

  • i dont see a penis buldge

  • @30inventionman

you are looking in the wroing spot

  • Comment removed

  • Sounds like something that would have been on Fair Warning.

  • not very good sound but awesome footage fer sure

  • anyone know what song they're actually playing in the video during the first minute?

  • @tollan23 If I'm not mistaking, they were performing "And The Cradle Will Rock" on German television, but it could also be "You Really Got me."

  • Look Its Loyd Christmas!

  • oh look the 80s

  • Wish they would have released this, but I was smart and downloaded it from here, and I NEVER get sick of it, great fucking bass by Michael Anthony

  • @cford1992 How do you download music from youtube? I would love to get some of these unreleases and burn a CD to have to listen to them. Any help is appreciated. thanks

  • @Davey28car Go to Youtube.mp3.ORG. it's easy, nothing complicating. And you're welcome, when I first heard this, I KNEW it was a must have

  • 6 people were hurt by this, and they were so injured by it's greatness they missed the ''like'' button

  • 1:17 is actually from "Get Up" the part before the solo

  • dave has a small dick. ha ha.

  • AWESOME! LOVE IT

  • I hear the roots of House Of Pain (01:17) and even a small bit of Amsterdam (01:58) in there... 15 years before "Balance" came out!

  • @SneakerPages

Doesn't surprise me - the ending riff for the instrumental demo "Fresh" (see sidebar) is exactly the same as the ending riff for "Up For Breakfast", which came TWENTY years later.

If it ain't broke, don't ditch it! =)

  • @SneakerPages

Oops! The Up For Breakfast ending is actually on THIS demo, haha! 3:05

    That means twenty-FIVE years.

God knows how many other gems he has locked away...

  • dont get why dave didn't like this, what the hell? it shows the ego tripping that was going on

  • They are performing "and the cradle will rock" in this video. This instrumental song has Bern superimposed over that video

  • some crazy psychedelic shit happening in there...

  • i love it..unreleased and still better then pretty much anything thats come out in the last 20 years...nice job finding this and listen to how good the bass is...

  • u found gold nigga!

  • Just noticed that starting at 1:18 Ed is playing the intro to the lead solo on "Get Up" with Hagar and Alex is playing one of the drum patterns to "Mean Street" at the same time. Cool!

  • Parts of this sound like "Mean Streets" off of their very next CD, Fair warning.

  • i love u dave...but fuck u for not liking this!!!!

  • Dave doesnt even sing on this and there's idiots bashing him. lol

  • Comment removed

  • Van Halen is so cool. The title "Act Like It Hurts" is amazing. I and most guys learned to act like it doesn't hurt. They can truely cover the whole spectrum.

  • I agree with you IBRockin, but think about it. EVH knows the fans already got all their

pre-WarnerBro reacordings on all on BootLeg recordings.Don't you think if he is

wanting to release release all of the un released recordings,he would have way

before now.Yes, i wish he would put all this great stuff on WarnerBro:,but he knows most of the fans have all of this on BootLeg recordings. Peace.

  • david lee roth is a cunt, as allways

  • @fredriknorand lol

"ya...fuck him... why all the girls like him anyways? I'll just stand over like a fool until someone notices me.."

  • @BigTroubles people like him because he's only the greatest frontman in the history of rock

  • cool shit, damm, they should have done something with this

  • Jesus, only a front man like DLR can stay busy during this solo! I'd just jump the hell off stage until Eddie was done!

  • cool stuff, man they had it happening back then, they should put it on there new album encore

  • NICE DICKS GUYS!!!!!...Thanx 4 the great visuals!

  • @MrMedusaLvamp , youre looking at their dicks....when all i hear is fucking great rock n roll???? Thats about a 9 on my " weird shit-o-meter", do you know a guy named Adnoydall?

  • @Lucicsux I love the music too...I was just admiring the view just like any "normal" guy would do when he sees a bunch of girls with their cunts and titties bustin outta their swim suits...right? What I think is weird is that you have a "weird shit-o-meter" in your head and that U go around measuring other peoples ideas to your likeing and then trying to call them out on it? Are we in church or kindergarden? I'll say and think anyfuckingthing I want to...UNDERSTAND?

  • This song is weird... I understand why it was unreleased...

  • the intro guitar sounds that Eddie makes with his guitar give me goosebumps!

    Eddie is a Guitar Genius!!

  • middle is house of pain

  • @515OVanHalen515O the middle is the middle of get up off of 5150

  • Ed had some fun with the echoplex on this one!

    Man i love that dude!

  • Lee roth PWNZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

  • This is brilliant it amazes me they dont release it , man they cld even rerecord it release it on the new cd w dave , it wld rock , some of the old stuff they didnt trelease is great . Listen to RISE , eddies solo thing , its fantastic , Eds still got it

  • Dave Rules... Sammy was better in Montrose...

  • Man..... dave really missed the boat on those fuzzy boots boo boo .

  • The fuzzy boots are cool. Nobody has any balls to be original any more. Sam was way better solo and Montose than in VH!!! Dave is the MAN!

  • love the part at 1:11..wish i could be half as good as eddie and just jam and go with the flow and always sound good

  • hold on let me quote the info "but dave didnt like it", let me quote van halen himself,"but dave said NO MORE SOLOS"

  • yep... this was the problem. Problem is, dont tell the founders, the namesake of the band, the CREATOR of the music - dont tell him when he can or cant play solo's, or you end up like Dave - FIRED

  • oh noes some one didnt like my speaking out against the man that ruined van halen, by tryin to be in the spotlight of a band name after the guitarist/drummer

  • @ad30279 ruined van halen??? im sorry but who was one of the founding members. dont give me anything about how eddie sang before dave but without dave van halen would have been nowhear. eddie would be playing for some other band, still revolutionizing the way the guitar was played. the reason gene simmons picked to recored van halen over george lynch's band in the starwood is because he thought dave was a better frontman.

  • nah, dave wanted the band to be bout him, its bout van halen not ditzy dave

  • Your a fuckin idiot

  • just one word to describe Van Halen's job....

    AWSOME!!

  • Damn I'd like to take a course in "Riffology" taught by Prof. Edward Van Halen.

  • You can start by brushing up on your rhythm!! Because King Eddie is about RHYTHM!! Riff's come natural to those that have rhythmic quality's!! Good luck with your course and that was a free lesson!!

  • Right on. Clever hooks throughout this tune. Guess I have some homework to do.

  • man daves stage presence screams FAG what is with the fag boots thats just too far, plus the constant, flamboyant kicking is just too much

  • Sure whatever you say... Dave got more pussy after a single show, than you've seen in your whole life.

Maybe you should think about some fuzzy boots...

  • I've heard this song on SIRIUS 19 Buzzsaw (now XM SIRIUS The Boneyard) on January 26, 2008

  • This is some surreal sh*t!!! This song is a hybrid it has House of Pain (1983-84), and the intro. for You're No Good (1979). Where are you getting this material? A VH fan for 30 yrs. and this is the first time I have heard this song. Thanks a bunch.

  • that intro kicks ass, all this old unreleased stuff is a thousand times better than these fuckin whinin fags like 3 doors down and what not put out now VH RULES

  • None of the so called "rock" bands today can hold a candle to the music Eddie Van Halen brewed up in his brain 30 years ago! And that's not even considering the

no talent ass clown auto tune record a whole album in 3 days rap diarrhea the

    douchebags are putting out nowadays.

  • @ZYVZX

Amen to that! I play guitar (have for 20 years almost) and Eddie's style is phenomenal and extremely hard to half way copy. Plus even without the dizzying solos.. it's still kick ass rock n' roll. Something we haven't seen in years (AC/DC, Maiden, etc. still touring not part of that though).

  • @Skizz1979

Nice, I have played 28 years and to me its the same story. Eddie is SOO important for rock guitar. As the years go on--having experienced the 80's shred fest--Eddie's vision is still ahead of anyone now. He is like everything and nothing at the same time. Mainly because it is his own vision.

  • NICE

  • Dear Lord.

Gene Simmons did not almost play in Van Halen. He financed their first demo, Kiss was already well established as one of the biggest bads in the world, why leave Kiss to go play in some upstart club band.

Also, Eddie never thought of joining Kiss, he jammed with them once and according to Eddie they used some of his riffs in a couple of their songs.

You can like Dave or hate him, I don't care, but to say he is a lyric hog my only response is go listen to the six-pack again.

  • I HEAR SUM HOUSE OF PAIN IN THIS AT 1:20

  • The guitar part that starts at 1:18 ended up in the song "Get Up" from 5150.

  • No it isn't.

  • yes it did, you are wrong ...go listen to "Get Up" it starts at 2:43

  • and you even have 5150 in your screen name!

  • great job spotting that. The very beginning of 2:43 isn't exact but as it continues on it mimmicks the riff you noted, note for note. Trademark Eddie using and reusing riffs. I guess when your style is so defined, it is bound to happen.

  • Comment removed

  • It's definitely Eddie. 100%. I'd love to sit and listen to all his unreleased stuff he has stored in his studio. He could probably release 1 CD a month for the next 5 years with it all, and fans would buy 'em up.

  • man I got to get a copy of this! This is as addicting as Iron Maiden's Losfer Words to me.

  • the best part is this wasn't released because Dave didn't like it. Of course he didn't, there are no lyrics for him to hog the spotlight!

  • seriously? pfft. Had nothing to do with Dave hogging lyrics. no lyrics were ever intended to be included with this outtake. It was meant as an instrumental. VH always had a clever play on Led Zep. Notice at 1:32 its the piece from House of Pain where Dave does lend his vocals. Get ur VH facts straight or dont comment just sit back and read on and learn.

  • yeah you are right. Dave wasn't an attention whore at all, and it had nothing to do with the fact that he had NOTHING to contribute for this song.......I know what an instrumental is. What you are hearing at 1:32 is a bass mr. mistaken. As far as "facts" go, I happen to know for a FACT that Gene Simmons almost played in Van Halen (got the demos to prove it), and Eddie talked about joining KISS when he couldn't take any more of Dave. Sorry I don't know my "facts".

  • I got a copy of this back in '01... love it!

Also theres a version of Atomic Punk floatin' around from '79 ..

  • that intro guitar sound is badass

it sends chills up my spine

  • Itd be cool if Eddie Van Halen released alot of this stuff. No it's not top of the charts material and the quality isnt 100% but to the collector and fans, who cares, this stuff is priceless. Thank you for sharing it. Im really suprized how much of their unreleased material, most thats never been heard, is now popping up on You Tube lately. Maybe it's Valerie

  • Sounds like legit VH to me. I hear parts from Women and Children First all the way up to the stuff they did on the best of with Hagar. Either way is outragous riff and very cool..Five stars!!

  • I came

  • how cud dave not like this!!!!!

  • Much as I love Steve Vai, this sounds like something he would've done....but it's more than 20 years earlier!

  • Terrific and man that swing at 1:18 and beyond is infectous.

  • yah i though i heard this stuff some where else sweet instrumental

  • this is fricken brilliant , gees they shd release it on the next album with roth . some of there unreleased stuff is great , even thats why i love u is great better then half the shit on 3

  • whats up with them boots? why wasnt this on women n' children first ? it's fuckin awesome!

  • Wicked!

  • Comment removed

  • Those boots look like the ones Jim Carrey had on in Dumb and Dumber.

Dave got away with some crazy shit.

  • This is amazing why the hek isnt this on an album!!! shame on you dave....

  • its got nothing to do with Dave. it has everything to do with Ed.

  • He later used the riff towards the end in "House of Pain"

  • I like Ed's rhythm playing better than his solos---not that he doesnt have some good solos---hahaha.

  • forget his flashy shit...his rhythm playing and riffs are second to none..."absolute groove" (dimebag said that)

  • no "solo boring records".

    creating gear ...

    he rules...is the man¡¡

    :)

  • so where is the song that goes with the video?......lame

  • wow ur a idiot its a demo they dont have a video for it the one they used was And the Cradle Will Rock

  • no your an idiot. and that is undisputable. I only asked where is the song that went with video in this clip. And once again, you prove that kids need to stay in school.....dont worry about what I do kid.

  • Comment removed

  • "so where is the song that goes with the video?......lame "

might be wrong, but i think the actual audio for the video is vh lip syncing to their own songs on some danish? tv show. they did several of them, and probably a little embarassing, but maybe not.

  • its when they did and the cradle will rock on i think some italian show

  • sounds real.anybody i've heard trying to play in the vh style something is slightly off or doesn't mesh.even michael anthony's high bass note choices are there.that's one hell of a band if it's not vh because the drums and guitar are in total sync

  • This is most definitely Van Halen. I have a ton of the unreleased bootleg stuff and this is without a doubt Eddie's playing. One thing I notice from all the early bootlegs is how kick ass his rhythm playing is. He was just a riff monster.

  • hey man how the fuck can you say this is lame stuff ... dude this is vintage VAN HALEN MAN ...GOD BLESS THE BOYS IN RARE FORM THEY STILL KICK SOME MAJOR ASS.

  • How lame to put it on a old video as well....LOL

  • That is not Van Halen...anybody who buys this is not a real Van Halen. That is a bunch of mish mash crap. Ed is much better than that. This isn't even recorded right for them. pretty much all of the early stuff he did was solid, great riffs. He didn't start coming out with crap like this until he got 5150 bulit...but by then his sound and the quality of recording had grown way above this. The snare in this isn't right for Al's sound either...GREAT JOB, BUT SORRY WHOEVER MADE THIS....

  • THIS SOUNDS AMAZING! I LOVE IT!

  • EVH guitars:: I guess you can't tell how obvious it is that Alex is playing the drums, or that the effect on the bass is EXACTLY like the Your'e No Good intro either... And you are a =VH= purist? Please...

  • definitely the house of pain riff.....beginning had riff from "Light up the sky" off vhII...great stuff. music really sucks these days.

  • This is as angry as Fair Warning and the tastiest funky rhythms you will ever enjoy hearing from Eddie V...whoever dug this up deserves a medal and whoever puts it down is an ass punching clown!

  • Ed must have thousands of songs that never saw the light of day. As huge a VH fan as I am I never heard this before. I do remember a song they did called Down In Flames from around 1978 that was never released but later Eddie used alot of those same riffs and ideas in their cover song You're No Good on the Van Halen II album.

  • you may not like this tune.... but it has a Damn nasty Rythmn!!!!! Hell Yes!!

  • Correction, Eddie did the most for guitar then anyone.

  • Thnxs for share it !

  • I'm with DLR on this one..Sounds very uninspiring

  • WHERE CAN THIS SONG BE FOUND???

  • there would be no zepplin without chicago blues check willie dixon hubert summlin ect...besides van halen have more of a zz top uli roth, holdsworth influence than zepplin

  • That riff that starts at 1:28 (or there abouts) ended up at the tail end of house of pain on 1984. This is okay, it ain't great.

  • by Dave saying he didn't like this instrumental, that makes him sound like an asshole... this is good, Dave should have tried to make lyrics for this song

  • this is definately van halen haven any of you heard women and children first its exactly eddies tone

  • This is really cool man!

  • This anin't them! Listen to the exit. Not alex and eddie! I am an expert on Micheal Anthony and this is not his playing or anybody else from VH. There is a reason why there is no singing in this. Sorry!

  • this is van halen lol, he actually uses one of the same riffs in the seventh seal

  • This wouldn't have been appropriate for W&CF. I think it would haven been a better fit on Van Halen or even Van Halen II. kinda sounds like a cross between "On fire" and "House of pain" to me

  • This sounds good, but not as good as the rest of Women and Children first. I love that album it's very underrated.

I would almost have to agree with Dave, this sounds like a Zeppelin/Boston song or something.

Of course the guitar is Eddie's signature sound but the song structure isn't a lot like VH.

  • Thats just it. It has too many signature traces from EVH and Mike and at 2:10 its using too many delays on a solo that is supposed to be this early. If you have listened to true VH early bootlegs its almost completely raw. This is kind a like those famous painting that people duplicate. Plus Eddie expressed how he doesn't like to much delay like U2 in interviews.

  • I wuld say that the only doubtful thing I took from this is Eddie's solo and how Alex drums seems to be too simplistic in there yet that's about it.Many things from here aside from the wierd solo come from 1978 and 1984 something that has Edd signature all over it.Wich is too much chores but very few slides and full hammer ons.Besides first 30 seconds of the song Mike sounds the way It shuld be IMO.Althouhg all this is just a thought cause I can't go to USA and ask Eddie himself about this.

  • I have been a huge fan my whole life, but this doesn't sound legit. Its great I give it that but it is too predictable. One thing I have learned about VH is any time you listen to something for the first time, you can't predict where it will go. I think this is a knock off.

  • The intro thing that Eddie does is so insane, where does he come up with this stuff? Shit! Amazing, that's all, amazing. The greatest guitarist ever=Edward Van Halen

  • This is fucking amazing. Eddie's tone is incredible. There isn't someone with better tone in my opinion.

  • This song totally kicks ass and it should've stayed on their "Women and Children First" album.

  • I knew that sounded kinda familiar, I was thinking of Romeo Delight though...

  • I'll bet dave really misses his hair.

  • dick...

  • You obviously no nothing of music then if you think Zeppelin sucks...You do know if it wasnt for Page we probably wouldnt be hearing Ed tapping...

  • ok...i chose my words poorly, zeppelin doesn't suck.I just find them over-rated....black dog rocks, fool in the rain is one of my all time favorite songs...i just am tired of stairway and kashmir...half of zepps tunes bore the crap out of me,half i like...as far as knowing anything about music..i own about 300 cd's... but, you're right,i don't play an instrument and when trying to play one,i am a complete spazz

  • its all good!

  • You haven't a clue but you are excused.. :)

  • Without Zeppelin Their Would be no Van Halen. Led Zeppelin is and will always be the pioneers of Hard rock ! Dont say Deep Purple they were later Sabbath to do Sabbath is great. Zeppelin took Blues or blues rock and made hard rock out of it. they might be booring but dont talk shit about zeppelin thats just something you dont do

  • True my friend. However, the difference with Eddie and Jimmy Page is that Eddie revolutionized the way we approach rock guitar much in the same way Hendrix did before him. I do think the two guitarists have different strengths. Jimmy had a gift at creating and orchestrating his ideas in the studio while no one can argue the virtuosic 'chops' Eddie has as a live performer (Eddie is on record speaking to this point as well).

  • always one goin on about zeppelin, two different bands, Eddie done something for guitar that page didn't. there's no comparison different bands, you could sit and say "without this there would be no" all fkn day.

  • Haha.

    Your not a smart person

  • did i hit a nerve :(

  • whats zeppelin, and 9 eleven

  • Eddie did more for guitar.

  • haha or you can say the c in rap is silent

  • were dose this guy find all of these crazy van halen demos

  • there are alot of sites to get van halen bootlegs. these are actually common songs on the bootleg forums. just go to google and type van halen bootleg

  • No, this was NOT reworked to become "House of Pain" I have demos of House of Pain from 1976. The original version hit a lot harder that the one on 1984. House of Pain was reworked some, but it orgignally had the same main riff and never sounded anything like this song.
