We hiked from a campsite at Mahogany Flat at 8133 feet. It's beautiful but could be a dicey drive unless you've got 4 wheel drive. You can also hike up from the Wild Rose campground which is a bit easier to get to. Good luck--it's a gorgeous hike.
Yes, this was the peak. I can't remember for sure how long it took but I think it took about 4 hours going up and about 3 hours coming back for a total of just under 7 hours.

No snow, at least in mid-August. It was quite comfortable at the peak, especially compared to the lower elevations :)

Apologies, Badwater's only 233 feet below sea level. I didn't check my facts during the hike. It's still a loong way down there!
