Also ment to say, I have the DMC-TZ3 and it records at 840x480, which will fill the youtube back like your video has. So not attempting to make you seem uneducated but just make sure the settings on your camera are set to 720p/1280x720.
I am unsure as to how it uploads like this and not in HD, but the PIXEL aspect ratio might still be set to square whereas they are supposed to be set to HD, I don't know what it is I think it's 1.77 or something but there is a preset to it. Failing this try put it into a HD video editor like Sony Vegas and render it out as HD and see what it does then.
This looks pretty good.. I just bught this camera, in newest version I think, DMC- TX65.. Have you happened to found the HD quality yet? I tried to record abit, but from what I've heard, people have put it in HD mode, and I'm not sure how to do that. I know this is a year [possibly longer] since you posted, and you've probably found out, but do you have any idea how to put it in HD?
xangelinuyashax.. You tell him he should change his settings, and all you can say is... I don't even know what you said! Your grammar sucks! Youtube doesn't support 1080i and 1080p though.
huh yes it does it supported one of my videos i put up in 1080i and it says watch in hd i should put up3 videos. but too lazy maybe by the end of the week -.-
What settings do you use im trying to get mine as good as possible and i still can't get it as good as this and youtube downgrades quality sometimes :S im so confused :S
I honestly just uploaded the clip directly from the camera without any adjustments whatsoever. It seems like its just a crap shoot in how YouTube compresses the clip. I'm still trying to get "HD" quality, but haven't been successful yet!
Yeah, really? With such a brilliant statement, perhaps you could elucidate (that's 'explain')!!!! The cam is set to 16:9 HD, and the actual QuickTime file states it is a true 720p 1280x960. Maybe because the audio is only 8khz (direct from the camera) and not 16 bit/44.1 is why YouTube doesn't present this video "in HD"....That's my deduction... Now give me yours.
I bought a cheap 16GB Class 6 SDHC memory card... If I were to buy another, I might suggest a Kingston, or top brand, as I do occasionally get an error stating the card can't "keep up" in HD video mode, even though it should... One is supposed to get very long shooting times with a "Class 6" SDHC card, so you might want to pay a little more for a major brand unlike what I had done... Isn't the camera the best? I also find the 10x optical sweet, and suprisingly the 20x digital -pretty damn sharp!
Yes, it records sound (as this video demonstrates!), just don't expect CD quality stereo. It is fair though. You'll love the Leica lens on the camera.... sharp as f*ck!
Hey, what do you mean an error saying that the card can't keep up? I was wondering because I just bought the same camera and when I record, this image of a red memory card blinks on the screen and I can't figure out why... I'm using an 8 gig SDHC that says "VideoHD" ... :-/
Keep up - meaning I've had overrun errors while recording in HD saying the storage card is not 'fast' enough to read/write the tremendous stream HD video creates, even though it is a recommended speed (SDHC Class 6)...so the recording just stops sometimes say after 90 seconds of continuous recording... I blame it on the cheap SD card I bought to put in.....I should get another and see if it makes a difference...
Yes. I believe it does that to tell you the recording is being captured to the card. When it stops blinking when recording, your card 'hiccuped' and may end the recording due to the card speed not being to be able to capture the copious amount of info needed to stream HD to a SD card....

Hope this helped
