It's important to save water because the process of recycling it back into the earth is extremely slow in comparison to how quickly we use it. We are using water at a rate that is too high for the earth to keep up with. Texas, for example, has problems with massive house-sized sink holes where water aquifers used to be that didn't get a chance to refill. That's just one reason why it's important for us to minimize our water usage.

If you want to save water when your taking showers, do a military type shower. You rinse yourself at first, stop the water, put soap on, turn water back on and rinse yourself. That's how my dad trained me since I was little because I am known to just sit there in the shower doing nothing while the hot water pours down on me.. please tell me I'm not the only one who does that o.o

doesn't make sense though. you're still going to use the same amount of water every time you flush. with the brick, the water level is just not going to go as low as usual when you flush. but it's still going to use the same amount of water every time you flush.

@TheLastPalme You put it in the toilet tank. The brick takes up volume which would have normally been water. So every time you flush, you will save a brick's volume worth or water. Over time it can add up.

it's not good to not flush your toilet after urinating, if you have a lot of calcium or lime in your water source. your toilet will start to clog after a few months. the sediment will build up around the horn on the bottom side of your commode, not to mention the trap, etc. i was a professional maintenance mechanic for 25yrs.

Actually, thats a bad idea - you can mess up your pipes by not having enough water flow to clear the pipes. It's better to get a low flow toilet which is designed to use less water to do the same job.
