  • iv learned alot since iv been on the internetz ALOT!!!!

  • I see internet schooling as more of an "extra help" or addition to regular schooling rather than an actual education system. if your school teachers and students are a pain in the ass deal with it or pretend to conform to mainstream ideas or just go somewhere else. i'm sure internet schooling is unneccessary for better public schools like ones in Westchester.

  • In real life, especially in business or group-related jobs, you will have to deal with stupid people. while having an ideal learning environment is important, it's also important to teach kids not everything will conform to their standards. and you dont need to learn everything from school you can do your own research and learning in topics you are interested in if you want.

  • i live in scotland and for fuck sake my teachers just get stuff from the internet YAHOO *COUGH * and its annoying ebcuse i sayed electircity wasnt invented it was fucking desovered NOP my teacher replyd it was invented my teacher then sayd i was like wtf what the fliying pigs

  • school me like no

  • Be homeschooled. You can own your own software company at 16.

  • Public School is trash, stupid kids keep being allowed to pick on smart kids. Stupid Stupid kids keep everyone back.

  • @valno wtf wtf no no im smart but im just not motivated thats teh problem most smart kids are acaully fucking retarded

  • Internet made me learn like 250% more then school.

Internet is awesome,if you cant learn from letters you can learn from video´s online. 3:50 = totally me. Also social networks like Youtube forums etc. made me smarter, learning about the truth not about something no one cares...To bad its the only school what isn´t that far who does media & computers. They learn only what to think, not how to think (what Hebrewes927 said). Internet made me learn English,i can English before we get it at school.

  • I think the Internet, well, I KNOW the Internet has more information than the average collection of school books, HOWEVER, I also believe that learning is more effective when the learner is taught by the learned. Sure, anyone can go and learn stuff on the Internet. I look up stuff all the time on search engines. But at the age of a person where their mind is at a much higher learning level than adults is the time they should be taught. It is also the time they want to goof off. Think about it.

  • @GeekingForJesus I feel that at that age, if a typical student like we think of today were taken away from being taught by a teacher in a school environment and were given the freedom to learn what they will on the Internet that they would be more inclined to play games than learn. Now at our adult age, we understand the importance of learning and we know that our learning potential slows down as we age, but kids don't understand that. And if they were to be taken out of a somewhat forced...

  • @GeekingForJesus ... learning environment (Being of course they have to go to school by law to a certain age), they would miss those key learning years if they were given the freedom to learn by themselves using only the Internet. Of course, if we were to use the Internet as a virtual classroom, or even a 1 on 1 teaching environment, than by all means I'd be open to that. But if kids were to just be told "Ok, go learn by your own will", it just wouldn't happen. Imagine what life would be like.

  • School is important in term of social learning; learning how to deal with assholes, how to make friends, how to share etc. however, the things ive learned are at a ratio of probably 100:1 in favour of the internet.

  • Good video !

  • Same here chris!

  • I learned ALL my skills from older friends on online games, I haven't learned any things such as vocabulary and spelling, The only thing that I MIGHT have learned INSIDE the classroom would be some simple math. All I've learned is Online, Not on google, but on online games. Online school next week for me.

  • homeschooling is good for some people, but i really like going to school in the sense that you spend time with all your friends at the same time, and some things (ie history) are interesting to me in school. I do feel like you might have some problems as far as social interactions with many people when you get older.

  • i was terrible in 4,5, and 6th grade.....it was a mixed class of 4th, 5th, and 6th graders!!! i just couldnt consentrate, espicially because of how the teacher almost incorporated her home in the classroom because she brought her baby every single freaking day with all the diapers, bottles... and even a breast pump in the office! she was also terrible at explaining what we were learning....it was terrible...horrid

  • haha i live about 35 mins from sp lol i know a few peps that went there.

  • so well said "More Learning Out Side the Class Room"...same here..haha

  • half of the stuff you learn in school, you dont need,i spend most of class now talking with friends and i am still doing good

  • I learn more on the internetz then school

  • I agree with you Chris. Home school is great if you are a good teacher. But your kids will need to interact with other kids, maybe playing with other kids in the neighborhood or going to church will give them opportunities to interact. One of the problems with public schools is the time spent disciplining the trouble kids and the teachers teaching to the lowest common denominator.

  • One of the main reasons behind schooling is to gain a life experience. There are some things that just have to be learned and experienced through schooling alongside the kid's peers.

  • Home schooling would be fine in theory; but I worry that kids will miss out on the important social interaction and learning that comes from that. Also, I think parents would need to pay for tutors to come to the homes to help support them if the internet-service is not sufficient when they have questions to ask about work.

  • Never stop learning....

Did fire bring down the world trade centre buildings?

    watch?v=LTa_XL_k8fY

    Sorry...couldn't resist.

  • Hey, that was a good video; because their was a lot of things that I didn't thank off you said. Keep up the great work I rated 5 stars, and subscribed. Can you please watch some of my videos, comment, rate, subscribe; it would be much appreciated?

  • Im in it, it's ok not much better than public school.

  • after learning to read teachers taught me nothing.. I have 2 degrees. i am retired

i send my kids to school for the free baby sitting service. most people do the same. if this offends you just get over it..

  • Normal schooling is very important for life experience. Making friends, actually picking up social skills. If you're going to homeschool your child(ren) then please at least get them involved in things with other kids so that they can have friends!

  • I was home schooled for one year in California. I socialized with my neighbors. I have a girlfriend now. I met her in California while I was home schooled.

  • I am homeschooled and the great thing for me is that I am in a group made up of over 100ish people and I'm friends with most of them. I have more real fiends then most of my public schooled friends, and yes I have public friends. It has been great for me considering that when it comes to school I'm a little slow. I have learned way more real life stuff then if I was in a class room. I am 15 and as of right now I plan to be a 2nd grade teacher. Not all of us are kids with no life.

  • I am not trying to sound mean or anything, just thought I would share a little bit.

  • I homeschool my kids and the internet is a valuable tool.

As for socialization, you can always sign up to homeschooling groups. Unlike public schools, where kids are stuck in one room with 15 kids of the same age and one adult, homeschool groups allow kids to interact with other kids and adults of all ages - kind of like the real world.

  • People who do homeschooling live on the future. they are enjoying special advantages today and will have better working conditions tomorrow. this world changes so fast... one better adapt to it...or suffer later...

  • That's a good point you learn soooooo much more outside of school!

  • The schools of the future will be internet based only. Well that's what I would hope for. My school's were crap. Making friends? Hardly worth it. Friends require food just as leeches require blood. They come and go. They develop worthless clicks. The best learning comes from when you are struggling to make it at anything in this world.

  • Fucking hell, have a good look at yourself.

  • Probably the most thought-provoking discussion yet, Chris.

  • How would they make any friends if they didn't go to school? O.o

  • I went to public schools when I was a kid (Wish I didn't though, I got stuck with bad schools.)

You take your kid to parks to make friends, let them get interested in clubs and sports in the community - great way to make friends. I made most of mine that way.

Nowadays I make my friends mostly via the internet, or just keep in contact with old friends.

You could say the same thing with an adult that doesn't go to work (possibly works from home).

  • Xneuz; there are many other programs out there for children to join. Gymnastics, choir, after school programs like soccer, art etc. There are church groups that have sports or other programs during the week for all ages. MANY different ways to meet other families, especially thru local home school organizations. The problem with public schools is they are generally a negative influence, whereas homeschooling gives a quality education and you choose what your kids get involved in afterwards.

  • Good point :) I hated school. Home schooling could probably be a better way, but it would be difficult to teach your kid everyday as well as having a job, unless your like a house wife who has the time to stay at home.

  • My kids hate public school (grades 4 & 5) & use it only as a social venue, education is not a priority. This fall, we will do what is called Distribute Learning. A program whereby thru any public or private school we choose the courses, they work on them and graduate with the same high school diploma as if in public school. I can now control what my kids learn and the negative influences, but still allow them the socialization everyone wonders about.

  • Check out the Fraser Institutes research report on Home Schooling called Home Schooling: From the Extreme to the Mainstream. it is very eye opening and shows when done correctly, kids excell over public/private school educations. Yes, you need to be dedicated and have structure and someone home to assist and supervise. In Distributed Learning where I am, we have a teacher we liase with weekly, and report to daily. It's a great system and most if not all is covered by the provincial government.

  • Getting home schooled is muuuuch better, I used to barely get A's in a dirty crappy public school, with low-class people. Now, I'm in homeschooling (ILC Canada program), and I would be depressed if I got less than an A +.

  • Lol snobby fag doesn't like other people. Great anti-socialism. Here's a fact: being around other people in an environment where everyone wants the same thing makes you get more friends. These friends lead to other friends and more good times. I'm 16 myself and I couldn't imagine being an outgoing and partying person if I didn't build my social skills at a public school.

  • No, I'm not anti-social. In fact, I have a ton of friends. Here's a fact: People who do homeschooling aren't anti-social, idiots like you just think that because we are different, and because we are smarter. You are right, though, people who sit in a class wanting the same thing become idiots together believing they're social. Go back to kindergarten, or maybe even try to learn a thing or two from your spelling class.

  • Lol way too be a hypocrite and stereotype us then haha I tottaly believe you have lots of friends.

Must be fun with your PSP hacking mates, my iPhone needs hacking, could tell me how to do that or give one of your mates to give me a buzz?

  • Wow, I really meant go back to kindergarten because I couldn't understand a fucking word you're saying.

  • K-12 is an excellent program. I recently pulled my daughter from the local public high school and enrolled her in k-12.

I only wish I had done this years earlier.

  • Sorry, but home schooled children usually end up fucked socially.

  • Comment removed

  • I am homeschooled and I am not fucked socially

  • I disagree being home schooled makes you want to get out more and socialize, I went to a public school and everyday all I wanted to do was stay home so did a lot of people I know.

  • we dont need mathematical formulas cosine, sine, tangent etc. and all that crap in our work except for a math teacher and other math related work but in other jobs for example if I will take up computer courses do I still need those formulas? and why do we need not to copy in exams? while in the real world we can copy on our notes if we forgot something.

  • For some reason after graduating I have never needed to do anything that forbid me from using my graphic calculator.

  • i almost failed grade 7 math because of the same thing!

  • "I have never let my schooling interfere with my education." ~ Mark Twain

  • I do ALL of my schooling online. I have much, much better marks then I did in a public school. I actually failed the eighth grade last year forcing me to do it again this year. I learn better myself. And if I need help, one call or email away and I get great help

  • holly crap. i might fail the eigth grade this year e_e weird lol i just told my mom about this to see if i can join lol thts scary i think

  • Probably because you don't know how to speak basic English.

  • yeah i think im gonna fail in math too but im good in computers im a high school

  • same lol

  • I'm in internet high school this year. For the first time in my academic career I am able to get good grades in all my classes and only have to do school work 1-3 days a week.

  • The problem with public school is they teach you what to think, not how to think anymore. It is all about socializing into the norm of society. As a parent you are the primary educator of your children when it comes to standards, morals and values/ The public school challenges this and it is what I am against.

  • We need more people like you to point that problem out.

And I say that as a compliment.

  • Home/internet schooling would be the best solution in my mind. The social aspect of school could be accounted for in different ways. i think there always going to be public and private schools.

  • Right there with ya man

  • Internet based learning works for some, but many, possibly most people, just don't have the discipline.

  • ... let me guess, there's a coupon...

  • I like your videos a lot, thank you so much for doing this, just toght I should say.

  • kids need to learn how to interact with other children, if they are home schooled they are gonna be odd balls

  • I learned most of my social stuff from the internet when I was home schooled 1-8th grades.. and in high school I've had no problems with making friends.

  • plus there is the concern about the place they get there info to do their work

  • This is home schooling not home prisoning.

  • :) i have seen nothing but positivity from home schooling. I personally feel more competent to teach my children about the subjects taught in schools than half of the teachers employed but the schooling system. Saying that half of my life i was privately educated by doctors of the subjects and that education was worth every penny my father had to pay haha ok i'm only saying that because i didn't have to.

    Peace

    Brian

  • I doubt the succes of homeschooling.

Some people would do it great! But there are kids who have problems with discipline, it would NOT be a good choice to do homeschooling

    A traditional school is good;

cause it creates discussions with others, they create discipline etc ..

    Ok,

some schools need change, they are too traditional,

    My ideal school form;

classes we have now + usage of the internet + short days so kids don't get tired

(don't mind my spelling, I'm dutch)

  • if you shorten the days, the kids won't ever be prepared for university or workdays =)

  • In germany,

schooldays are from 8 am to 2 or 3 pm

Don't think they have less smarter children then in Belgium or America ...

It's just .. kids have to stay kids!

Here in Belgium, school is from 8.30 pm till 4.30 or 5 pm !

I'm still going to school and i'm just tired !!

A whole day going to school, coming home @ 6.45 pm (we have to study at school after schoolhours, length; 1.45 hour ) and then we !still! have to learn .. and that 5 days a week .. com' on =(

  • In the US, homeschoolers on average score higher on tests than the kids who go to public schools. They're also less likely to get into trouble with the law.

Perhaps Public Schools can be good, but right now, something is obviously missing.

Perhaps schools should be like college. A class per a subject a week and a ton of homework. :D

  • Homeschooling works well when sructure & discipline are in place. Read the Fraser Institutes research article called Homeschooling: from the Extreme to the Mainstream at: fraserinstitute(dot)org/COMMERCE.WEB/product_files/Homeschooling2.pdf

It is a follow up report done in 2007 showing how home schoolers on average excel in their education over public/private schools, especially in math & science. Universities are now seeking out homeschoolers as they are better prepared then public students.

  • and boo - the internet should be 21+

    kids - go exercise

  • people who didn't go to college are kids?

    idiot

  • College if for people who are to lazy to learn by themselves

  • The internet is neither a replaement for school nor a replacement for social interaction... It's one thing I hate about this gen of gaming systems... On one hand, you have the wii, which while it does emphasize gaming you do together, it de-emphasizes things like story to get "cheap" fun. Then there's the PS3 and 360... Getting rid of splitscreen games in favor of purely online games. . *grinds teeth at Resistance 2*

I've taken online courses... They are no replacement for good teachers IRL.

  • Oh, and I did homeschooling for a short time... Sucked, but then I did charter school, and that was the happy medium between homeschooling and public school.

  • i think, if not for the actual schooling, then public/private school is important for the social side of things, but if you find another replacement for that, then so be it

  • I am a student at the moment. I would love to be home schooled, but my parents don't understand how I can do it on the computer.. Computer illiterate people kind of annoy me!

  • So true.

  • so true so true

  • hey man what degree do u have?

    your really smart man!

i've learned so much from you, i love watching your videos!

  • Homeschooling is an awesome idea but kids wont make many friends that way.

traditional school is just plain boring at times, but you can makes lots of friends

  • My daughter has done Florida Virtual School for 2 years because she travels and practices for sports. She is able to do the classwork in a few hours a day b/c there are not as many distractions. She is missing out on socialization - the good, the bad, and the ugly. Just learning to deal with people is very important. The competition and interaction re: schoolwork is missing as well. Some people are able to do than online I guess. The public schools are very sraightjacketed and inflexible.

  • thats the schooling i do....

  • this is a 2012th video

  • I am 18, dropped out of grade 10, and have never been happier in my life. Now I'm not saying that school is bad, it just isn't for everyone, and I really don't think schools are teaching at their full potential. I am a geek, I now have my own business being a technical support guy and am doing great. Couldn't be happier. Point is, school isn't for everyone, it isn't as great as they make it out to be. Make your choice.

  • totaly true man. school is not for every one

  • Yup, if you don't want to be in school, don't go. Don't be afraid to stand up to your parents either, that's what I had to do, I won in the end and now they agree that I didn't need school.

  • wow.

  • Heheh.

  • Dude, can you hack my teacher computer and delete all my absence

  • Schools a waste of time. what if you don't need a job? why the hell do you need school? lol

  • hes hinting it, hes having a kid whooo mini geek!

  • i think homeschoolings bad you dont get the same social experince trust me in in school and my friends in homeschool school is way better then at home lol

  • well i agree with the fact that its easier to learn on the internet but my social life would be completely destroyed if i did school on the internet

  • I'm planning on doing all my courses online next year, for grade 12. I'm a loner, I learn at a much faster pace than everyone else, and the only "sport" I enjoy playing is dodgeball.

Maybe I'm a psychopath, but finishing high school online seems like the perfect scenario for the socially inept. I plan on becoming an inter-state trucker (hopefully consumerism remains rampant) so socialization (or lack of) doesn't really bother me much.

  • Dodgeball FTW!!!

  • no bad idea im on that and it sucks really bad you make no friends it wastes ink and its weird no dont do it chris

  • Chris has a lot of computer skills.

  • Chris could home school in front of the stream and even school some people in how to use google

  • chris you are my teacher, really.

  • Here's the thing... School started way before calculators were even around. But now that everyone has at least a one dollar calculator. There even in cellphones. So because their everywhere why do we need to be teaching like were in the early years of school?

  • exactly. The way schools function need to be fundamentally changed to accommodate with the 21st century

  • My husband has pointed out once that even the way they did it in school was the long way.

There are much more efficient ways of doing division than what is taught in schools.

  • wow who cares 1st ciomment fags

  • it get u soem attention and sometimes epople click ur chanel for it

  • Great spelling, and no dumbass, no one cares, you get made fun of.

  • dude i have a tiny keyboard plus i type waaaaay yo fast so meh yes i am gonna make a few misstakes
