I was wondering: why do you keep flying at minimum speed when in space combat? Against these first opponents it doesn't really matter, but on later missions you will get absolutely shredded if you don't alter speed in combat.
Beam over a warparty? Laughable. Remember that Starfleet has no concept of bodyarmor or personal shields. So this "warparty" would be a bunch of dudes in overalls or worse. Probably wearing red shirts too. And why is that Elasi pirate reminding me of those pirates from Privateer?
I thought the Elasi pirate went away, and then how is he aboard another uss enterprise, send Spock over to straighten it out. leave Jim and the ensign behind
Doesn't the manual have a map with the names of each sector on it? And for that matter, why doesn't the on-screen map have names? In fact, why is Kirk using the map at all? What happened to "Ensign! Plot a course to Brobdigblarbia!"?
@predcon1 I may be wrong on this, but I THINK the whole map thing was a form of copy protection, seeing as how you could only figure out where the hell you were going with the names in the manual map.
As for Kirk using the SENSIBLE way to give directions I guess the new guy's piloting the Enterprise.
I thought it might be CP, but I wasn't sure, since a player could try again from a save game if he got it wrong. And there aren't that many sectors to choose from, so it's not like the "Please enter the word under paragraph 5, line 37 in the manual" CPs or like the weird pictographic combination locks from Maniac Mansion and Space Quest.
the elasi are almost as bad as the romulans in that TNG SNES game. they used to attack the Ent-D in a friggin scout ship. but the elasi are pirates attacking the federation flagship!
You owe us a red shirt death still, Kiko. In fact, this is mission two, so you owe us two ensigns. Where do you think Soulspheres come from. Think of the Doom guys, Kiko!!! Think of the Doom guys. :(
@CandyCao7 I'd imagine so. Most would consider space a 'sea of stars' and in many science fiction settings, spaceships are their fleets are considered 'armada of the stars'. They often use military terms attached to seafaring combat and as such, having space pirates would make sense.
Though it would most likely be much harder to commit space-piracy. It's not like you can just sail up to another ship and hop over to steal it. Then you also need to know the many roles included in making a spaceship fly.
Can't really be common criminals now, can they? But we still find them in most Sci-fi games and universes, as you previously mentioned..
To top it off; greatly enjoying this new LP. Greatly.
@Kikoskia Especially in this universe where teleporter technology is so widely used. It makes it easy for notorious pirate races like the Nausicaans to beam onto enemy ships or down to colonies, pillage the crap out of them then move on. On a side note, I pledge my loyalty and my peg-leg to you, Cap'n Kiko!
Indeed, and with so much of space unexplored, I can imagine allot of Pirates would emerge quickly in order to reach the unexplored places before other forces can.
@Kikoskia arr yee be right as we float through space with our pirate ships that some how move in space even though there is no wind in space and there be no air or gravity in space some how we preserver yarr :P
When I played this, my 12-year-old self couldn't find the prefix code. I thought it was some kind of copyright protection in the manual (which I was missing), so I just kept hailing the Elasi, killing hostages until Starfleet Command pulled me off the issue and I went on to the next mission.
Why can't they take Chuck Norris instead of the Red Shirt...

@DieWeltIstSchlecht There's not enough room for his beard on the Enterprise, sorry.

No! The red shirt will live. There's a random red shirt ALREADY dead in the transporter room. Having more death scenes isn't in the budget.

Captain Kirk probably is bored. He has to deal with stuff like this on a weekly basis. It would start to bore anyone eventually.

Space pirates? What torrent client are they using?
junkrika 3 months ago 43
@junkrika
They are also possibly illegally downloading space itself. I'd hate to see the estimated time until done.
Rhincewind13 3 months ago 5
@Rhincewind13 ... and the universe is expanding, so they are probably going to get stuck on 121%!

Microseconds, seeing as space itself is nothing.

You're thinking about space as the absense of anything. I meant space is in this vast expanse in which everything exists and occupies.

Pfft, you think they're worth 100%? Ensigns are barely worth a 1% Health Bonus, always dying in one hit like that.
