  • ¡¡¡Maravilloso Rick!!!

  • Pompous, self indulgent, bombastically over the top and wonderful! The multitude of keyboards, the monster drum kit, the full orchestra, the full choir and lastly, and my personal favorite, the guy with the triple neck bass!!!!! Not to mention the twin vocalists!! Man, Rick knew how to do up big and bold and egocentric!! Rock on Mr. Wakeman!!! The best part is how serious they all are perfuming this ridiculous mess. The audience was slain by Moog-a-side!!! Phew, too much!

  • Excellent!

  • as awesome as this is, lets be honest- this shit sucks.

  • I still think this would sound good for an Animusic animation

  • Incredible talent

  • makes me proud to be an aspiring keyboardist.

  • questa e' musica. grandi ..yes....grande rick

  • a mixture of Kiss, Bach and Fail.

  • Who are the singers in this Rick's video? Who knows?

  • @adelfino100 pretty sure the second singer is Ashley Holt

  • What a masterpiece performance! I wish it remastered on dvd!!!!

  • this is hilarious

  • Hermoso! Thanks Rick!

  • Classic, listen to all that Analogue goodness. Real singers, real performances....no AUTOTUNE like todays jokes!!

  • what an awesome perfomance! happy birthday Rick!!

  • I was at one of these concerts!

  • miss me ...

  • Sorry .. this is not his best work. I'm sure everyone will agree Six Wives was his best, however, Criminal Record is my personal favorite.

  • Nope. Corny as all hell and pretentious. Like a Star Trek convention. Still, I'm drawn in...

Simplesmente maravilhoso.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LOL, the 70s were funny

  • the first singer is so out of tune..

  • Wakemans a clever, and very funny guy, make no mistake, but I cannot abide this stuff or any of his other `projects`. I think I am allergic to `keyboard led` music. I HATE it! Anyway sorry to poop the party. Each to their own...

  • I have enjoyed punk, big time. But I've always loved early Yes, and hey... Rick Wakeman - he has made some very good music, some rubbish along the way, and reading his books made me piss my pants with laughter. He's the first one to admit that not all his output has been brilliant. I can appreciate that, and even if not all his music's to my taste, I respect him for those albums I do love. And for the honesty in his books!

(Although how someone can support Thatcher is beyond me!)

  • 2:28 i think "shut up"

  • Now setting up the 'Official Rick Wakeman Youtube site' come and see

  • @RickWakemanOfficial I love you rick - since my childish years

  • Great music!

  • heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp!!!!!

  • I was looking for this for so long, a lengthy Google search brought up the name... This brings me waaaaaaay back....

  • @WillShakespeare2007:

When did Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull join Yes? That's news to me! Lol. I'd say that castletriglav's original label for you sounds about right.

While we're on the subject, would you tell Wakeman to his face that his work is rubbish? I didn't think so. You might want to think twice before calling others cowards.

  • @Hypnopomp - I of course meant Jon Anderson, Ian was probably on my mind as I am producing a concert with someone that promoted Jethro Tull. I do not need to think twice as it is obvious that calling others names from behind a computer screen makes you a coward and a childish one. No I would not call his work rubbish to his face simply because it would not be polite to do so. i would instead state which works I preferred if asked but I have told artist there music is not to my taste in the past.

  • Wonderfull Rick Wakeman - Arthur ( Wembley 1975 )

  • ele parece um mangá!

  • @bahzoca Pode parecer o que quiser, pois toca demais! Ele SABE música e tem inspiração!

  • @ipaline Com certeza... concordo absolutamente com vc! O cara é FERA!!! =D

    Bjus e obrigada pela resposta.

  • Viva , um brasileiro com bom gosto ...

  • I had the pleasure of working with Rick a couple of months ago, and spent nearly an hour chatting with him about concerts I had attended when I was a teenager, an absolute dream come true for me, at 53 years old and sitting with my hero, a rock legend, will never forget, ever.

  • Ah, the good ol' days, when music was also art & not just 'entertainment'

  • Is this an out take from Spinal Tap????

  • @chh5555 YES!

  • Pure corn..... he should have learned something from his association with Eno.... unless this whole thing is supposed to be a joke... in which case....BRILLIANT!!!!!

  • 16 people couldn't pulleth out the sword from the stone and anvil

  • Going to see Rick and Ian Anderson tomorrow, I hope he does not do all this rubbish.

  • @WillShakespeare2007 Don't you think that Wakeman would be performing his own material? What would you want him to play; Deep Purple covers?

    Dumbass.

  • @castletriglav Well as he was performing with Ian Anderson and they were in YES together I expected they would perform YES numbers. It turns out I was right he did not perform his solo stuff. Can I just add that calling people names from behind your computer screen not only singles you out as a moron but also a coward.

  • @WillShakespeare2007 , a mistake , he played with Jon Anderson, not Ian Anderson

  • This is truly majestic music. It literally brings you to tears. Why can't music be like this anymore?

  • This is the worst possible concert one could ever attend. Wakeman even laughs at his one jokes in interveiws. Lameness off the charts!

  • @TheSongsparrow more fucking haters....fuck off and get hit by a bus. wanker.

  • wakeman does rule...faggots from sweden have to be jealous haters

  • this is so utterly bad beyond logic

  • Sempre gostei e gostarei!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is the worst possible music . bombastic and ,not suitable for a big orchestra.

It´s like a powered up version of Spinal tap´s "stonehenge"

  • @ShareTheSphere I firmly agree. Great keyboardist- terrible writer of music.

  • @ShareTheSphere your gay...this is the shit....

  • @northofthesun do like me,write advanced music for 30 years then get back to me

I know your jealous of wakeman cause hes like your age and hes been way more successful then your old loser ass.... so just stop crying and stay in sweden loser

  • @northofthesun you can´t post the whole url idiot.

put it after youtube dot com/

or search for "animal showdown wakeman"

Actually I don´t care what a muppet think about my age.

Do yourself a favor and what it feels like having good manners...and learn to play more than 3 chords , unless you want to play punkmusic all your life.

  • @ShareTheSphere correction "learn what it feels like having good manners"

  • @ShareTheSphere and your correction still makes no sense just give up and let it go asshole...

  • @northofthesun I knew you would not understand the basics of human moral behaviour so yes , I would rather not write anything more regarding your rude manners.

  • "THINKS" Not think....If your going to write english write it in the correct manner stupid ass...

"Do yourself a favor and what it feels like having good manners...and learn to play more than 3 chords , unless you want to play punkmusic all your life." thats all you had to say? none of that would have made sense to any english speaking person unless they knew it was supposedly an insult from a fat old bitter swede....and I do love Punk rock, because im not a narrow minded asshole swede

  • GOOD GOOD

  • it would be cool if you could somehow throw tomatoes at your screen and they would somehow be transported back in time and hit the singer's big fat head every time. ..

    so, how 'bout it science??

  • This guys suck at singing but Rick Wakeman rules.

  • EXELENTE!!!!!

  • and oh how they danced, the little children of stonehenge.

  • @sydbarrett5 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA xD

  • why?

  • Here borns the true classic metal!

  • ho goduto!

  • Another video of this wonderful genius that made the pop fertile ground for all trends. Arthur The show was phenomenal!

  • I was there

  • shame about the singers, rakeman rules!!! though!!!

  • Aí Patrick! Quase 300.000 exibições! Abraços!

  • I like listening to this while on the freeway, on my way home.

  • Come on, this really is terrible music. In its day it was kinda unique but, deary me, the lyrics, the singing, the whole concept is just bloody awful. I can imagine a dog howling away to this.

  • @ColinBobbyDartford Soooooooooo... you liked this song is what your saying?

  • @ColinBobbyDartford

Is the dog your BF ??

Nothing good to say, search for something else ... guess you're into Rihanna .... tosser

  • @corbsuk exactly...i cant believe how pathetic people are they cant post stupid ass negative opinions somewhere else...like lady gagas channel...wakeman is on here and jealous haters will talk shit on him because they will never be known for anything....

    cheers

  • rick is nr one in keyboards, is magic, is best, tks martaled

  • that cape... the Yes cape! the master of the cape and the mellotron!!!! yeaaaaaah!!!!!!!!!

  • Look at the clothes!! lol

    .

    Rick Wakeman, the Best!!

  • The album and the concerts were both well received, the concert was extremely expensive due to the required support cast. There were three shows at Wembley. The album went gold, his 3rd consecutive effort, not bad for an album that was "poorly received"

  • Hilarious.

  • What's funny about this isn't the video, it's the "this is why punk was invented" argument. Punk is like college: you rebel, become like all the others who rebel (now you're no different) and then you grow-up (like almost everyone does) and move on. I know plenty of "punk rockers" who now run internet companies and we still have our tattoos! If I wanted to listen to Pink Floyd I will and when I want to listen to Rick , I do. That's why I have more than one CD!

  • singers are unnecessary

  • @mistermafia9 I agree, these guys have some serious tonal issues, kinda made me cringe

  • Ashley Holt is the perfect voice for the music of the great Wakeman!. I love his music!.

  • great love his music 5******

    Patrick

  • Good God ! This pompous overblown crap is what punk was a reaction to. I love Wakeman as a player. Love his work with Yes, The Strawbs and Bowie. This was Rick's mind on beer and way too much of it, Six Wives was great. Not hampered by rediculous lyrics.

  • Who gives a shit about punk? Who gives a shit if the lyrics are cheesy? The music of this album is brilliant.

  • I don't give a shit about punk either, but this helped open the door for it. Wakeman is a brilliant player. King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Yes and Focus were brilliant. Not this. This was a tragically bad album and the fact that it was made by a very talented musician is what makes it even worse

  • @westpalmscott The album and the concerts were both well received, the concert was extremely expensive due to the required support cast. There were three shows at Wembley. The album went gold, his 3rd consecutive effort, not bad for an album that was "poorly received"

  • I agree. Rick Wakeman doing King Arthur is definitely no "Now I wanna sniff some glue"

    The two just don't compare.

  • good god! you have no ear for brilliant music. Good God! I think your opinion is overblown crap

  • @westpalmscott someones been on wikipedia...

  • There was little on Wikipedia that I did not already know.. Most of the posters I run into on youtube are less than half my age. I don't have to look up to know how badly this album and tour was received by fans and critics alike. I was acutually alive in 75 and graduating High School

  • why did this have to be on ice?

  • Everything is better on ice! Ice fishing, rock and roll, ice skating, the list goes on!

  • Rick was a fucking extravigant guy back then. He talks about how he came to the idea of this in his first book, but the idea came just after he'd had a heart attack

  • ashley is amazing

  • i saw him l ive in my city... Goiânia, Brazil...1983...a long time!!! One of the best nights of my life...

  • Who is the guy standing next to Ashley? He seemed to be lost...

  • eterno mago

  • brilliant, except for the singing, the singers sounded kind of out of place

  • he probably likes charlie rich, or marvin hamlish

  • Fantastic footage he brought keyboards to the forefront in the 70s,its easy to look back and ridicule IF YOU WERE NOT THERE at the time.

  • Hello kind sirs, has anyone among you have the chance to upload this melody but in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra's version? Thank you!

  • I've met this guy a few times and can assure you Rick Wakeman is indeed a genuine and nice person.

He inspired me so much it was he who made me go out and spend a lot of money on decent keyboards and learn to play.

I;ve had to favurite this on the basis of it still being so absurd! LOL! Love him though.

  • Disliking his music is up to you, but there's no reason to dislike Rick himself. If you did some research about Rick you'd find that he's a really nice guy with a good sense of humor. Not only that, nearly every penny he's ever earned has gone back into music. That's why he's gone bankrupt several times to the point where he had to sleep on park benches because he didn't have enough money to pay his bills. Music is that important to him. So if you don't respect his music at least respect him.

  • what was the point of telling us that? Nobody cares. Here's another question, why did you even watch this vid if you knew you weren't gonna like it?

  • Well, what's the point of 90 percent of all youtube comments, which are along the lines of "omfg, that's awesome!"? Plus, would you prefer I dislike his music without having listened to it? I was watching this video because I thought "hey, perhaps this one's more like your taste!"

  • Maravilloso, wonderful, aún conservo el LP original I still have original vinyl LP. ¿Dónde puedo encontrar dvds de Rick Wakeman?, where I can get Rick Wakeman`s dvd?. Gracias. Thanks.

  • I sthis that LEGENDERY "see what I did there" Gig on Ice and that bolke Killed him self?

  • this is why punk was invented.

  • So true. Even though I love prog, this sort of flamboyance needed to stop..

  • Singers suck, but Wakeman Rules,,,

  • @idontknow7221 What had they taken? they're obviously cabbaged by whatever substance it was!

  • Great song, sucky singers..

  • They surely aren't proficient singers, but their voice tone sound very good in studio. They suck live, no doubt. But they fit this medieval style very well.

  • the best keyboardist ever man what a talent

  • and with a slight swing to the right the Silly Party has gained Piddle-Upon-Tyne West from the Very Silly Party.

just a bit of fun, that represents a 10% swing to the Sensible Party, but not quite enough for them to gain it......

    LOL

  • I'd forgotten how weak the singers were. It's almost endearing but hell it's not serious.

  • wonderful but also a little naff and I love it -- pretentious probably and fulfilling most of its pretensions.

(Not so sure about other parts, like Merlin!)

  • retarded

  • GREAAAT ARTIST !

  • from my experience keyboardists by themselves make stranger music that most dont get but a few cherish they fill a niche and wakemans' should have been expounded on cuz epic storietellin grandiose masterpieces are a wonderful idea :check out hedwig and the angry inch

  • I was always distracted by wakeman's ears peeping from beneath his yellow locks. JUG ED!

  • very.....very crazy hair.

  • love the music, hate the hair. it really takes me back and I love the pop-classicism (tho post-Spinal Tap it's very hard to take seriously)

  • Musical genius, nothing today is set on so grande a scale! Rap is not music, this IS music!! Rick Wakeman is a gifted soul, and i'm glad he's a saved Christian, and i share his last name :)

  • congrats(:

  • orgasmus song... . .

  • i like prog as much as the next guy but this stuff was rubbish. Guess you had to be there.

Now Wakeman has gotten all christian on us ... blah. I would rather listen to Genesis, Floyd, Zappa

  • ha!ha!ha! it sounds like a joke!

they sings in a funny mode to say the least!!!!

  • babaca!!!!!

  • Hold on a minute......isn't this the show where the band members hold letters up that spell BOLLOCKS at the end of the Gig ?

............and that Bloke can't sing, but Rick's the Dogs Nuts !

  • As an Aussie living in London at the time I was privilaged to attend this concert. To this day it is still very vivid in my mind. To warm up the audience he played excerpts from Six Wives followed by the main feature which was performed on ice. Then for an encore he went into Journey to the centre of the earth. It was a late night and only one train was left at the station, it was packed Tokyo style. Great memories.

    Jack.

  • Lucky Man !

    ;)

  • Comment removed

  • What's the deal with Rick using Ashley Holt on all his early albums? The dude has a HORRIBLE voice. Ashley Dolt, perhaps...

  • Mr Wakeman.

    Church organist on acid.

  • Great stuff Rick. , nay, difinitive. minimoog tones if a little repetitive on all those flourishes.. it always sounds as if he's about to slip back into journey to the centre of the earth to me...
