The multitude of keyboards, the monster drum kit, the full orchestra, the full choir and lastly, and my personal favorite, the guy with the triple neck bass!!!!! Not to mention the twin vocalists!! Man, Rick knew how to do up big and bold and egocentric!! Rock on Mr. Wakeman!!! The best part is how serious they all are perfuming this ridiculous mess. The audience was slain by Moog-a-side!!! Phew, too much!

I have enjoyed punk, big time. But I've always loved early Yes, and hey... Rick Wakeman - he has made some very good music, some rubbish along the way, and reading his books made me piss my pants with laughter. He's the first one to admit that not all his output has been brilliant. I can appreciate that, and even if not all his music's to my taste, I respect him for those albums I do love. And for the honesty in his books!

(Although how someone can support Thatcher is beyond me!)

What's funny about this isn't the video, it's the "this is why punk was invented" argument. Punk is like college: you rebel, become like all the others who rebel (now you're no different) and then you grow-up (like almost everyone does) and move on. Disliking his music is up to you, but there's no reason to dislike Rick himself. If you did some research about Rick you'd find that he's a really nice guy with a good sense of humor. Not only that, nearly every penny he's ever earned has gone back into music. So if you don't respect his music at least respect him.

As an Aussie living in London at the time I was privilaged to attend this concert. To this day it is still very vivid in my mind. To warm up the audience he played excerpts from Six Wives followed by the main feature which was performed on ice. Then for an encore he went into Journey to the centre of the earth. It was a late night and only one train was left at the station, it was packed Tokyo style. Great memories.
