The " membrane" is called elastin it's what doesn't go away when u cook it and gets stuck in your teeth. U can also use a skewer which is easier. And gloves work better then a towel

I realized about 30 min later I had forgot to remove the membrane, and it came off like nothing, I would imagine due to the tenderizing action of the acid. It lifted up, no knife, and just peeled right off! Worth trying again.

This tip also works on St. Louis cut ribs as well guys ! I always remove the membrane so my dry rub permeates the meat also makes them fall off the bone tender ;)

To get a grip o the membrane, once it is started, just dip your thumb and finger in some salt.
I use this technique when I skin fish and it is very successful!

Use a Strong normal size Fork, It works better then the Knife. I know i used to cook loads of ribs every Sunday.
