  • Are those TWO beta in there?

  • @Pop12646Okami Nah, it's just one male betta.

  • please look and comment on my new tank!..i am new to this :-)

  • thats a nice potato man, but I think Samsung or Cannons are a bit bettter.

  • You got so lucky with no aggression there, Gouramis and Bettas usually don't get on at all.

  • @cocochipcookie Yeah I know. My betta has always been very mellow so I figured I'd give it a try since I could always remove him. The sparkling gouramis are much smaller so I don't think he ever perceived them as a threat. Plus there is so much cover from all the plants.

  • NIce

  • r u in seattle or somthing? cause i have the same tank, same backround and pretty much the same plants

  • Oh just read that it was peaceful... then it's perfect lol.

  • BEAUTIFUL tank!!!!! Except Bettas don't mix well with Gouramis and Chichilids.

  • what kind of substrate did you use?

  • @butttluvin eco-complete. Looks great, works great!

  • nice double flash cockatoos and guppy

  • really cool tank

  • im thinking of adding maybe 2 dwarf cichlids to my 16 gallon which currently holds 4 platies, they should be ok nooo?

  • @zedac0sta yeah that should definitely be fine. I would just recommend getting a male and female though as two males may fight with each other for territory.

  • the cichlid and gourami's dont bother teh other fish?

  • @stupify4life Yeah, what zohan said. This tank had absolutely no aggression.

  • How much did this cost in total?

  • @1soxfan95 I'd say like $200 total.

  • Your male betta dosen't attack the other fish and shrimp? i though it was the females that weren't aggressive.

  • @Nautical1994 No he doesn't. But when it comes to bettas, each one is unique. Some may be more aggressive than other so you have to know your fish to determine how best to house them.

  • @Nautical1994 not all male bettas are aggressive. i used to have one in a 65 gallon that lived with male guppies, and he never bothered them

  • Wow, beautiful!

  • Looks like my ideal planted tank! I also have a whisper 10 in a 10 gal (was this a Tetra kit?) it amazes me that you can make such a beautiful planted tank in the same tank that I use!

I wanted to use the exact same stocking of my 10 gal, without the cichlid :)

  • nice taNk BRO! post a update !

  • @starthi Thanks :) I have an update in my videos. Check it out!

  • Alright, so I apologize in advance if you already answered this question (though, I didn't see it posted before), but I was wondering if you have a Co2 system set up with this aquarium? If so, is it a carbon block, liquid carbonate (bottled), or actual Co2 gas with a regulator and all? Nice set-up by the way! Yours makes me miss mine! LOL

  • @Xoiboi Thanks :) And no I don't have a CO2 setup. I just use Excel after a water change but I really don't even need to use that.

  • i love the cockatoo cichlid :D

  • did you just plant them into gravel?

  • Was just wondering what kind of filter do you have/use?

    Awesome tank btw. :]

  • @cloudyskye06 Thank you :) It's just your typical whisper 10 filter. Once you have an established filter with good bacteria and weekly water changes, keeping the tank clean is easy.

  • can you please names of the plants

  • @hanros98 Sure. There's java ferns, java moss, wisteria, amazon swords and anubias.

  • @JaredK511 hey bro can you tell me the name of your filter as well please, thanks

  • @hanros98 Yeah, it's just a whisper 10 filter. Nothing special lol.

  • @JaredK511 thanks a lot my filter is way to strong and the current is so strong is literally creates a whirlpool, and my fish are swept to the back haha

  • @hanros98 oh that's not good haha. that will cause too much stress for them and they will eventually die :(

  • this is really beautiful

  • thumbs down for playing nickelback

  • Cute tank set up. I think that your betta will be find by himself..

  • nicely done!

  • its the most beautiful little fish tank i have seen your fighter fish is so lucky to have you as his owner tc :)

  • alot of plant can stress out your fish. and decrease there lifespan by a bunch!. take out one of the bigger plants and make a bigg enough room to swim around

  • meh,,i'd ditch the betta...he'd probably be happier by himself in a 5-10 gallon to his own, or without the cockatoo cichlid/sparkling gouramis at least

  • what is the large plant in the middle next to the rock

  • @2010UWG I believe it's the Amazon Sword.

  • nice tank. 5/5

  • Very nicely put together :D

  • nice tank.. I am getting ready to set up a planted only 7 gallon bowfront.. but thought in about a week or two later adding a Beta.. don't really want anything else in there. It will be my first planted tanks. Thanks for the video.. hopefully one day mine will look like that too.

  • very nice tank set-up

  • lookin good :)

  • person who pulled a thumbs down fuck you

  • Thanks for the support! Yeah I have no idea what's up with all those thumbs down...must be a hater or something.

  • cool tank

  • That is one of the best 10 gallon fish tanks i have ever seen, good job.

  • where u buy him?!

  • nice tank!!!!!!

holy shit i never saw a ciclid like that....i just looked it up..70 bucks!!!!that thing cost more than my tank!!!!hahah nice tank

  • Haha, that's a dwarf cockatoo cichlid! But if you paid 70 bucks for one you got ripped off! They are more like 10-20 dollars. 35-40 for a pair.

  • do you know any cichlids that can fit in my 12 gal tank?

  • You can get a pair of dwarf cichlid species like rams or apistos. But I wouldn't but anything else with them.

  • you shouldnt mix the betta in with other fish

  • Man awsome setup. Wish i had that kind of creativity for my ten gallon tank.

  • hey man nice tank i jsut got a 29 gallon it has the florcent lights and florite gravel so am trying to regrow my amazon sword becuase snails got to it and messed it up lol but really nice tank

  • I just got the same tank can i get a planted if i keep the stock lights or do I have to get better lights.(i kind of want plants like yours java fernetc.)

  • Yeah, stock lights are generally fine if you just get low light plants. That light you see here is the stock light with the tank. It happens to be 20 watts though so I actually get 2 watts per gallon which is really nice for most plants. I think most stock lights with 10 gallons are 10 watts but I'm not sure. But yeah, you should be fine with stock lights :)

  • Excellent!

  • love da tank!!! can u plz tell me wat kind of plant is in there??? cuz my 10g tank with also a betta looks ugly... but i love urs

  • The plants in there are all pretty low maintenance plants: java fern, amazon swords, anubias and water wisteria.

I highly recommend getting live plants (if you can provide the right requirements for them). They look good, they absorb waste products and make fish feel safer.

  • Wow, that is such a happy and active betta! Very cool tank.

  • how do you take care of the amazon sword plant?!?! which leaves do you take off? (if that isn't an amazon then just forget about that first pargraph..)

beautiful aquarium though..... i would love to do something like that to the empty ten gallon in my bedroom, i hate empty fishtanks!!

  • The amazon is simple to take care of...you just plant it lol. They're so hardy. When some of the older leaves get brown I just pluck them out from the base of the plant.

    And thank you :)

  • V. nice. Betta and cichlid get on okay?

What cave/space/territory does he (cockatoo) have?

  • Thank you :) Yeah the betta and cichlid get along great. They don't even care about each other it seems...never a nip or chase. (And if there ever was, I would but the betta back in his 2.5).

Since my tank is so well planted, I figured I try it out and it's been a success thus far. The betta is 10x happier in here than in his old planted 2.5 as you can see by his activity.

I'm always on top of cleanings and giving them a varied diet so I figure that helps too.

  • pretty impressive 10g! you sure did so much with it..the plants are beautiful and the fish..especially that cool looking betta...sure stands out alot. My betta hides alot but yours looks like it wants to show off. Cool Tank!

  • The tank looks beautiful! You might want to upgrade the cockatoo cichlid to a 20 gallon once he grows a bit more.

  • Yeah I know. The 'too' will be going into a planted 20 gallon once I come home from college which will be in 2 months. By then he should be a good size and ready to be transferred.

    P.S. thank you!

  • Good to hear! College tank restrictions suck! It's almost impossible to keep anything interesting in a 10 gallon or less.

  • bettas get along with sparkling gouramis?

  • My betta gets along just fine with the gouramis. He doesn't even acknowledge them. Perhaps it's because they are so small he doesn't perceive them as a threat or maybe my betta in particular is just very mellow (which he is).

But normally I wouldn't place bettas with gouramis.

  • i see, thanks. great tank btw. make sure u do weekly siphoning :D

  • Very cool tank. Great song in background too!

  • do plants help water quality?

  • Definitely. They use up a lot of the pollutants (ammnonia, nitrates) as their own food. They also out-compete algae for nutrients.

Not to mention they look 10x better than fake plants.

  • um not a good idea to put ur betta with a cichlid

  • nice man 5/5

  • Friggin awsome tank! What's the lighting you are using? And substrate, AND are you using flourish and excel?

  • Hey thank you :) I'm using the standard 20w fluorescent bulb that came with the tank. But since it's only 10 gallons, it comes out to 2 watts per gallon which is pretty decent.

I use eco-complete for a substrate and yes, I also dose with flourish and excel!

  • AWSOME! You are doing great on that tank, it looks absolutley freaking sweet! (lol you can tell i like the tank) XD

The betta should be fine with that cichlid, dwarf cockatoo's are pretty placid, and they are only aggressive when spawning, and since you only have one, it's fine.

I have kribensis and bol.butterflies with my discus, and they are as placid as anything.
