I have a '95 A6 in need of new blower motor. I have removed the old motor by breaking the fan into pieces however, there is not enough room to put the new motor in (under the plenum). Can I pull the climate control box out by simply removing the metal strap (under the plenum) after disconnecting the wires and coolant lines? I would really prefer not to take the dash apart and I do not need to open the climate control box, just need to get the new motor in. Any advice?
@FranzKlam if you remove the metal strap and pry the housing aside to get the new motor in, you may break the seal between the firewall and the ventilation housing, and then you may get problems with water entering the car, so the best solution is to try to take the evaporator housing apart so you get bore room on the right side.
