I have a Fission SL already. Is this mako jacket just an updated version of that one? The fission is excellent! (it is the proshell outerlayer and primaloft insulation)
@egregor123 The Mako is an insulated GORE-TEX Jacket (100gm of Coreloft insulation under the GORE-Tex Shell) and the Stingray Jacket is just a GORE-TEX Hardshell. The Stingray has a very light bit of fuzz on the inside for comfort and light insulation, but it is not nearly as warm as the Mako on its own. The Stingray is a better option if you are working hard: i.e. touring in the backcountry, boot-packing or putting in the uptrack for your lazy buddies. ^SM
@egregor123 Yes, it is great for Whistler conditions and your layering system is bang on. Depending on summit temps I'd adjust the thickness of my fleece layer (or use an Atom LT) to find that perfect temperature balance. Keep in mind that this is a Coreloft insulated GORE-TEX jacket, not just a shell. ^SM
Just bought my first Arc'teryx Jacket, the Alpha LT in Squid Ink and I am pretty happy about it! ^^ The Alpha LT has a perfect fit and really nice colors. I cant wait to try under various weather conditions.
I love Arc'teryx stuff! I look forward to adding this jacket to my closet. I recently bought an arcteryx silo 18 pack and absolutly LOVE it. I actually use it for school as well as camping. Keep on making the best stuff out there.
