Car on Fire

Can someone explain me why they didn't try to use extinguisher? I don't know about US but it is 'must have' thing in Europe. Even if you don't have one, force to stop someone on the road and ask for it, normally, other drivers will give to you in case if your car is smoking/burning on the side of the road (however I don't know how is it in US). And why, damn why they opened almost everything what was possible to open, for a better oxygen flow? What's a point of calling 911 then..

that fire is due to something leaked on the exhaust possibly oil cooler oil for the turbo that came out. or electrical wiring.

If your car gets on fire, DO NOT, DO NOT OPEN THE HOOD, AND CLOSE THE DOORS, why?, becase fire needs oxygen to grow, and if you open the hood or the doors well, air is comming and feeding the fire, and therefore it will get bigger, remember, go as far as you can from the car, because the car may explode, or you may inhale the gases coming from all the acids and liquid from the car.

I drove a car that caught on fire, and this is what I was told...when you realize that the car is getting hot, yes pull over and turn off the car. DO NOT OPEN THE HOOD. Oxygen feeds fire. You might have been able to save your car. Then again, I don't know what was wrong. Yes, it sucks to watch your baby go up in flames :(

Same thing happened to my 350hp turbo '89 LeBaron GTC, except the fire dept. took 50 minutes to show up and sent me a $400 bill, after the tow company gave me a $600 bill. Manage to salvage the engine, transmission and intercooler.

It does seem odd. Hood up, sunroof open, both doors open; could we do anything else to help it burn? And what in the dash/floorboard area gets as hot as the video shows? What was up with the glovebox? Why did nothing come out of the extinguisher? Why did the camera cut off between "few flames" and "inferno"? eh it takes for ever to get a line off the rig hook it up to the pump pannel and get water from a hydrant normally it takes more than the standered 500 gallon tank to put out a car fire
