  • The complexity of this process is really making me doubt buying Typhus and a Death Guard army!

Awesome tutorial, question though, what would you use to color the shown intestines of Plague Marines?

  • this is not Devlan Mud, but Badab Black

  • this minature looks like a dameon took a green crap on it a smeared it on its body hahahah:D

  • Hey there thank you for puting this video up I am using this scheme on a entire death guard based army and it is working fantastic!! KEEP UP THE GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD WORK!!

  • lol. i bought the plague marines set, hoping for both an awesome and tough troop to field and some cool parts to put on my chaos lord.

then i opened the box, and... METAL MODELS.

    FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • is this devlin mud wash the same as devlan mud wash?

  • fantastic tutorial, i have used many of the ideas to paint my own, i didnt go as light with the colour but thanks to your tutorial i have some great looking death guard, thank you so much.

  • where can i get that primer?

  • lags for three seconds at the end, HALF HOUR VIDEO!!

  • Hello Alexandra!

hey I've been following your videos and like them very much. I'm a big fan :P This video inspired me to start my deathguard chaos marines for my current CSM army. I have one question though, If you were to paint the skin for a plague marine, how would you do it?? I was thinking maybe using les's Plague daemon nurgle tecnic but make it in a smaller scale. What do you think about that?

  • @Alanduin1 everything that looks sick works. grey, brown, green, blue. take what you whant.

  • Just followed your tutorial. Very happy with the results. Your tip for rust is pure win. Thanks very much :)

  • Best Plague marine tutorial ever i mean you dont get as good as you

    :)))))))))))

  • superb tutorial

will be using your techniques for my nurgle army :)

  • what sand do you use and can i get some, im bored of normal sand

  • @goldencobra7665 just mix birdcage sand with some sandbox sand and you have it

  • I painted about 15 guys this way. Then got so sick of doing it so i just spray and wash now :((((

  • @kornickronic they are Death Guard, and you are supposed to get sick, painting them....thats an indication that you are doing it right ;-P

  • I'm impressed, as usual well done !

  • this is a good way to paint them thank :)

  • Awesome vid Alexandra as usual :) I tried this tutorial out on one of my own plague marines and I am really pleased with the results, this has entirely changed how I have been painting them now :)

  • Thanks I just got my first plague marines & have been trying to get the right look.

mine are yellowish green , & no way near as good as yours!....but look ok!

but watching this, gives me a lot of insperation.

trial & error!....it's all down to practice,,,& a little skill!

Your a star Alexandra.... & I wish you well...

Catseye has too sleep!......or suffer the slings & bows of outrageous fortune!

    X

  • Very nice! I was thinking of stripping my modles and doing it this way :D but then again I like the Death Guard darker :( but I still really like this!!!

  • Awesome, not how I wanted to paint my plague marine,i am a more dark and dirty kind of guy. But awesome job hope you can make a dark kind of feel of them, it will make my day thanks

  • Great paint job!

  • Love the tutorials, You are a great painter.

Hope I can get this good some day.

Any chance of a tyranid tutorial beside the dipping ? ;P

  • would you ever consider commissions?

  • great video as always !! you are the best painter i have come across

  • I cannot stand the over advertising, no body watches that #@$% and americans need to stop this agravating proccess with they're addiction to advertise

  • Alexandra, what colour from GW would replace your Chemo Green?

  • Hey Alexandra, will you be doing a Khorne Berserker Marine anytime soon?

  • @Absolute40k isn´t a world eater tutorial and a downloadable dvd enough?

  • @GirlPainting Oh haha, Im sorry, I will refer to that then :)

  • @GirlPainting nup

  • @Absolute40k a khonre bezerker is a world eater

  • I always kind of preferred plague marines with brownish armor rather than green. But I still like the look of this regardless

  • Nice to see my old Death Guard Marine get painted. I'm glad that it was helpful. Better than just rotting in my Bitz-box ;)

  • I really like all of ur vids

  • Thats "Uniform greay" not 'Wolf Grey" right?

  • What are you going to do with all those Chaos Marines?!?!

  • Plaaaaaaaaaguuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu! i love it

  • This is an awsome video i love it. You paint so well i wish i could paint so well. do you have some ideas for me.

  • @summifu lots of practice ;-)

  • Best tutorial in a while! :D

  • LOl Alex now i want to paint some plague marines.

  • GReat tutorial, one of your best videos.

    It really helpful thank you.

  • I love everything you do and everything about you, there is not one thing about any of your videos that annoys me....so wierd, your like the only person on youtube I have no qualms with.

  • I've been waiting for one of these for 10 years. I've never painted a good plague marine. Also I like that you use GW colors and explain what your mixtures are. Thanks for the vid.

  • I was waiting for this tut...many thanks. Any chance to see thousand sons / red corsair? :P

  • will you do thousand sons too?

  • Been looking for a decent DG tutorial for ages, i've got a whole forgeworld army of them, one issue..... paint scheme. i could never get it how i wanted, i ended up doing a brown/creamy effect but didnt really like it. I shall now use this tutorial and once finished i will send you some pics. Thanks so much!

    lewis

  • have bought some death guard to have a go at paint some formyself they look cool

  • nice job Alexandria looks great

  • Awesomepaintjob guide is better guide:))

  • @deardaddyboy Could be, but the benefit to all these videos is to have multiple styles so that the techniques all reach a wider base. APJ has an airbrush for most of his models lately, and those are an investment that not all painters have.

  • i usually dislike these models because they seem fat and usually stand out but still a great video

  • As usual amazing, fantastic work! I dont understand how people have given three thumbs down?

  • looks amazing!! even golden demon worthy

  • really great series, keep em coming : ]

  • Stunning.

  • will you be doing Emperor's Children? love all these chaos tutorials btw!

  • For the paint chips: Might it not be easier to paint the highlight colour first, then add black inside?

Also, I would add a scratch of metallic colour to the chipped areas, to show the metal beneath.

  • hakanor reavers please?

  • @Eirikeilng oh please do these marines, that would be epic!!!

  • excellent as always could you do a chaos marine in the flying raptors paint scheme, that would be cool to see

  • Sieht super aus! Was hälst du eigentlich von den neuen Finecast Plague Marines?

  • @Akimyp Finecast Plague Marines? Die sind voll geil. Jetzt mit noch mehr Löchern und Rüstungsschäden ^^

  • @GAELICscrub1: She says "Hi Tubies! Here is Alexandra."

  • that is one ugly Death Guard. he is like puke on diarrhea.

    that makes Nurgle happy! XD

and i love the chips in armor. some decay fries will go well with that LOL!

  • @huntercd my goal was a "instant vomit" ;-)

  • Ever paint tyranids?

  • Looking good.

  • amazing i wish i could paint this good could u please do a vid on how to paint a archon?

  • Very helpfull,as always : )

  • Again im very impressed by your Paintjobs !

  • Could you do some tutorials on pre-heresy chaos space marines?

  • This is a great color scheme!

  • wow amazing video.

  • Love the depth of green you've chosen to work with.

The way I do blends (not that theres anything wrong with what your doing) is I use a wet palette and I add a bit of Vallejo Paint Retardant to the water. Then you can add several different hues of greens to the palette and mix the intervening shades. The paint stays wet for quite a while and you can go back and forth. One of the nice things with that technique is that it saves paint and lets you do multiple models over a long session.

  • I love watching how you're able to apply paint so quickly and easily... definitely shows the skill involved. I assume you're never hindered by your actual brush control.

  • how do you just know how to paint some of these schemes? is it just because of all the experiance you have or are you just looking at the paints you have and seeing what might work or not? nice painting though I like how you used the preheresy colors as well

  • @Warpetrie it is just a lot of practise and training. if you know generely how to work with every colour, then you can paint everything.

  • ¡For Papa Nurgle! Great work

  • Stolen.

  • Aaaaand this is a really great tutorial Alexandra! This is way much better :P

Thanks for doing it, you deserve a big like ;)

  • Nicely done...and a really good tutorial...love the rust effect...thanks for posting it up...Jim.

  • great tutorial thanks a lot personaly I fid it easeir to paint the highlight colour on to the chipped areas and then painting in the black/brown I find that this makes it easier to get a really fine highlighted line great rust tecnique I will try that one out :)

  • You rock!! You make it seem so easy :p

Could you do a short video on how you mix your colours as I can never seem to get mine right

    Thanx

  • The rust idea is perfect, I think you caught that just right I'll defo be trying that in the future. Out of interest, do you film / paint using day-light bulbs? (ie. Lights that recreate the spectrum of natural light?) Since your greens seem alot - greenier than mine xD

  • now thats a death guard Very nice looks like it crawled out from the pus pits of Nurgle Himself :-D

  • awesome model, great improvement from the alpha legion, im glad this one turned out so well :)

  • ALEXANDRA!!!! THANK YOU FOR POSTING THESE SERIES OF VIDEOS!!!!!!! PLEASE!! I ENJOY THEM AND I HUNGER FOR MOAR!!!

  • I gotta say, I like this take on Death Guard armor. The lighter, more pus-colored armor is much more convincing than some of the more cartoonish greens I've seen before. This is also the best method I've seen so far for painting rusty metal.

  • Loved it.

  • im first wooooohooooo

  • @TheWorldOfWarhammer and for this accomplishment you will get laid tonight!
