How long would an eccentric orbit that was 1000km above the earth at it's closest point, and 1000km beyond the moon at it's fartest point take per revolution? I'm guessing it's something less than the 28 days that the moon takes to complete an orbit. But how far past the moon would the orbit have to go before it became synchronous with the moon's orbit (passing it twice each cycle?)
Paganiproductions, there are very, very serious reasons USNSC and USAFSC not not reveal their space activities and means - I wan't talk about here. Nevertheless, I can give you a clue: Watch Stargate SG-1
(by taking it with a grain of salt of course) and take a look who co-authored and sponsored this SF-show with about 185M of taxpayer's money:
This video answers some basic questions I've had for a long time about orbital mechanics. I think I'll watch it several times.
GREAT VIDEO!!

what the heck is naval space command?
TheEnder7 2 years ago
TheEnder7 a Navy operates military ships - per definitionem. Obviously, there is widespread misbelief, these ships must neccessarly swim in water.

I imagine it has something to do with the thousands of ICBMs we have on submarines patrolling the oceans.
