35 years ago (!) I was driving around the end of Sproat Lake when one them flew right overhead headed for a landing, skimming the treetops, engines pocketing away, and looking way too massive to be flying. An image I still recall vividly...
I was fishing on Mohun Lake one day, about 27 Km North west of Campbell River BC and noticed this aircraft landing and taking off on Campbell Lake At least 20 km away, It is so Massive and I could hear her props from this distance, AWESOME!

These are former WWII troop carriers converted to water bombers. They are located in Port Alberni, British Columbia, CANADA.
