Great video, please try the Take Down remover cream next time-it gets out really hard to comb knots. It softens the hair so you can comb it easy. It really is the best detangler on the market.- save your time
@KiaraRoxATT246 "Co-washing" is using conditioner in place of shampoo when washing the hair. Yes, but it also depends on what the individual wants for their hair. Some wash with conditioner more regularly while others do it in-between their usual washing and conditioning routine. I try to do the latter. I've heard that some who wash more regularly and/or exclusively with conditioner will eventually have to clarify (with a clarifying shampoo or some other method) because of possible build-up.
@KiaraRoxATT246 You're welcome! It's okay, I'm the same way when it comes to computers (and other stuff I can't think of right now LOL), but I'm glad that you asked the question.
Hello, I know this has nothing to do with a hair question. However, I was trying to do it in one of my videos and couldn't. How do you add links to show up on top of/in the video???
@TiffanieM1 Hi, click "My Videos" (or "Videos"), click "Annotations" under the video you want to add links to, and then, click "Add annotations". You may want to open another window to the video you want add to the current video. Copy the url and add it in the annotation section. You will have options to move the boxes around, change colors, etc. I hope that helps you.
@BargainClipper do you get a lot of breakage using this method. Im 14 and im trying to learn to do my own. I just detangle it using a boar bristle brush but i STILL get breakage. I used to use a wide tooth comb but i dont know why i still get breakage. Please help me.
@Vlgirl1 I get what's normal shredding for me. On average, people shred 100 strands daily because the strands are in different growth cycles, but everyone's hair is different. Also how they care for their hair and other factors come into play. So when you are detangling your hair, you can use the suggestions from this video and/or do a Google search using "Curly Nikki detangling methods". Also I'd stop using the boar bristle brush instead a wide-tooth comb would serve better for this purpose.
Thanx for the tutorial:)Good way of detangling natural hair. That's the way the stylists do it at the salon i sometimes go to.Much easier indeed.Good tips:)
When I cleanse or shampoo my scalp, my usual shampoo is JASON Natural Sea Kelp or I have one by EO in lavender and both are sulfate-free. Right now, my hair and scalp doesn't have any problems with "cones". Sometimes, I do use an ACV rinse when I feel my scalp needs it, but not too often because ACV rinses can be drying to the hair. So, I opt to do an ACV rinse after my shampoo and then apply conditioner or when I co-wash with VO5 Moisture Milks; my scalp doesn't like it, but I'm not trashing it
No, you can detangle any hair type. When the hair is two textures (like with transitioning from relaxed hair to natural), you have to exercise extreme care because the hair is more fragile at the line of demarcation (where the new growth and relaxed hair meet).
ok thanks because at the moment i have relaxed my hair for more than a month and im in 2 minds about going natural or not because my hair looks weird the top natural bottom relaxed :S
You're welcome! Oh, you are transitioning. There are some great videos of YouTube members sharing how they manage their hair while they are transitioning to natural hair with the two textures, natural at the top and relaxed on the bottom. You can try twists & twist-outs, braids & braid-outs, wet-sets, and other styles to help to camouflage the two textures until you are ready to decide on going fully natural.
No problem! Just take extra care when you're gently combing or styling your hair. I finger-comb my hair when I style it. And I only use a wide-tooth comb when conditioning my hair because that's the only time I traditionally comb my hair. Also you may benefit from doing a protein treatment when needed (Aphogee recommends every six weeks). But always remember to do a deep-conditioning, moisturizing treatment right after rinsing out the protein treatment. That's all I can think of for now ;-).
After, I rinse out my hair, leave it dripping wet, apply leave-in and/or glycerin spray, shake and let air dry. I put my hair into four braids (or twists) at night after I mist the hair with water and then cover my head with a satin bonnet and sleep on a satin pillowcase. This helps to keep the tangles to a minimum.
Great video I've always had a hard time detangling my hair it seems like once I comb it and think I've gotten all the knots out it tangles right back up. I think I'll try placing the conditioner on in sections and see if that helps me detangle my hair any better.
Thanks and you'll also may want to try detangling your hair with the conditioner and then braiding or twisting that section to keep it separated. Then you can rinse you hair out with the braids/twists in or unravel them while you rinse.
My natural hair used to take forever to detangle and I see why. I did not use conditioner! I am transitioning again and this video is very helpful. Thank you!
Thanks for this video it's very helpful, my hair tangles alot so I put it in twisted sections to shampoo and condition to keep my tangles to a minimum, I try to be very gentle to prevent breakage.
You're welcome and that's a get idea about twisting your hair before shampoo and condition. I put my hair in four twists at night and just unravel before styling. My scalp gets so dirty, I like having my hair loose to get to the scalp more, but I might try your way in the colder months; thanks ;-).
nice hair....i really like Pantene, moisture balance (green top)~

I have no idea what cowashing is. Is cowashing for washing inbetween the regular shampoo/conditioner washing? I don't understand.
