@BellaaMarlene yes you do need them forever but you also need glasses forever. They will work with a prescription of -5.00D which covers about 75% of short-sighted people. They cost is similar to top end contact lenses and works out about £1.33 per day. It is a reversible non surgical treatment and they freedom they give you in everyday life is the benefit. you probably have to depend on these forever too. i doubt it would fix high prescriptions, overpriced too i bet
