  • 1979 freshman, I liked the openess at Purchase: students, faculty, facilities. Movie stars were being formed at SUNY; I remember Wesley Snipes walking with his bag across the shoulder, I had no clue he would become famous. I must have known Stan Tucci's sister. One could chat about Heidegger with math teacher Solomon; Nadim Shaath was so involved with us international students. Andy Klemer showing us flying squirrels! B Joy Sedlak who apparently left to follow her paramour in California ...

  • i'd like to give my self a credit for taking the photo of Ramberg pointing @ the pinup of (and I didn't make this up) "Holy Torpedos".

  • By the way, hey Bob Herman, you look good.

  • I can say I retain most of what I learned all those years ago, and have worked with gifted researchers who have taught me more and more. It is great now to impart my lessons to my colleagues and help train the younger crop. Purchase was a nurturing experience. Although a corporate setting us not necessarily conducive to nurturing, a grass roots effort makes a difference to those who need direction, knowledge,m tools, principles. It seems almost a paradigm for me to pass the baton.

  • Academically, Nadim Shaath became my mentor and launched me into a career that has been an honor and a pleasure of invention, patents, trade secrets, expertise in a diverse range of disciplines in automated fluorescent sensor medical diagnostics R&D. This is my 32nd year as a professional scientist doing things I love and very related to my academic experience at Purchase.

  • I just have to comment as I was one of the four chem majors Bob Herman is referring to... The others were Peter Powchik and Steve Grubb. I used to tape record Atom Yee's P-chem class and hung on for dear life as several of my other chem mates went into bio or earth science. I can say it was a unique place for pretty unique people.

  • awesome - I am still making it up :) Love Barb

  • What a great video! I knew it was Dee Molinari's voice immediately. Graduated from Purchase in 1974, second class. Worked there for 10 years, 6 of which I was Director of Public Information and Alumni Affairs. Now 20 plus years later am going for a Social Media Certificate at Purchase. Still love the place. Long live heliotrope and puce and The Load! Grace Zuckman Goldstein
