  • why do people get dual moniters, you might as well get rid of your iMac

  • Comment removed

  • Hi guys so you know edd online good video

  • @Soldierknowsbest so if I buy this year's top-end model will it appear yellowish compared to the cinema display as you mentioned in the video.

  • Will this work with a windows PC? (Working iSight camera and microphone?)

  • @Sytrusze Nope. Un;ess you get some kind of adaptor

  • Are you able to hook a Xbox 360 up to the cinema display?

  • @vicktourthemonster no only macs

  • your monitor just isn't calibrated. the cinema uses the exact same display as the imac.

  • hey will you be getting the new 27 inch led display?

  • I'm thinking about getting this as I have two MacBooks. It would be awesome to connect my portable ones to this when I'm at home :)

  • Might the iMac need calibrating?

  • u must be rich since u got alot of apple stuff

  • How fast is the display? Can I use this for gaming?

  • @Merts478 Yep.

  • Here at Brazil the Cinema Display costs R$3799, or 1900 dolars. But the same thing costs only 900 dolars in USA, or R$1800. Why?

  • @yalamix Blame your government

  • @imopsvideo Dude, I'm 13 years old. If I could do something I would live at US.

  • @yalamix US sucks! it really does!!

  • @imopsvideo I don't think so. Just because of the tech gadgets and because of Disney world(i'm kdding). Here we don't have snow, hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes we only have flood. You know what? I'm going to live in Australia or New Zealand.

  • @imopsvideo

No it really doesn't. Your opinion is relative thus idiotic. Do not put your stupid ideas in the mind of a 13 year old.

  • since it came out the price never went down i think it's too expensive!!

  • do u know if it can be used with mini dvi to dvi then to hdmi if you know what i mean mini dvi then a dvi to hdmi cord and if so is it good picture cos i have a few cords but have the macbook white 2008 so it uses mini dvi instead of mini display port. and why i want to know if it good picture is because i have an matsui 15 inc hd tv and the picture is quite bad so do you know y thanks and soz for the long question.

  • I love mine, it can't compare to my HP monitor, it is more expensive, but it's worth every penny. If you want to save $300 you can buy it refurbished from apple, thats what I did.

  • HOOK IT UP with the iPAD plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • @bannanatube it dosent work i think

search gmnastic666 he have a video of that but i dont remember if it works lol

  • I-TODALLY WANT THAT YOUR THE MAN!!

  • private message me if you want a lockerz invite

  • I like it but i am note sure, the glossy screen is a pain for my eyes, I had the same problem with my macbook pro, that is why I have beeb using the iVisor from moshi... You didnt say nothing about the glare issue....

  • I'm using a BenQ G2400W 24" monitor. Wich works great.but somehow it's not 100% optimal but close. The graphics are slightly sharper, when running windows. And I'm using the optimal resolution in both OS X and Windows Vista..

  • the white to yellow is not to do with the screen quality i had the same problem. go into ur mac settings and simply fix the colour contrast until it matches the colour of ur cinematic display. and no im not stupid i know how to spell colour, im from scotland not america.

  • nice that ur telling this but i don't think anywone gets mad about you writing in YOUR language:P

  • Samsung SyncMaster XL2370

  • Is a cheap TB panel.

  • GOOD FOR YOU CAUSE YOU GOT TWO MACS AND I DINT GOT ONE lol

  • Hey..just to be sure..this does work with mostly all computers, including windows?

  • @Broadcastius Only with computers with DVI connection.

  • 400th rater

  • o i have a hp 21 inch monitor and it performs well in simple games like counter strike the res is 1900x1080. Also i have a asus 22 inch monitor which is just as good. I still think apple monitors have an edge

  • if you can get your hands on it, try and get the Samsung XL2370 (they should have it at best buy). It is an LED Monitor as well, it has a 16:9 aspect ratio, 2ms response time, 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 23 inch, and a $299 price tag. i think that might beat the mac display you have there. I hope you find it and can give me your opinion about it and maybe a review on it as well.

  • wow!

  • wow is right...im about to pick one up pretty soon! :)

  • I think you proved Apple stuff is over-priced vy ALOT

  • i think i did as well...and i ended up buying that samsung monitor i was talking about...but LG just released their new LED monitor...same stats only better in a few spots...im bout to get that one as well :)

  • I am getting the new iMac 27 inch with quad core i7 and 2 terabytes, can´t wait any longer want to try FCP 3 on it already and play some games and produce some sick ass Tunes with ableton live and watch the session view just open up even more.

  • hey why didn't they upgrade the 30" display ??

  • considering how other PC monitors of that size are around 300-400$, hell yea its expensive

  • this display is cool but its expensive!

  • its more expensive than the 27'' imac! which actually has a better screen i might say , and its a computer!

  • the 27" Imac is $2,000....

  • Comment removed

  • no its 1699

  • that would be correct one of the Imac models is infact $1699

  • that would be correct one of the Imac models is infact $1699

  • i have a samsung hd 2333 monitor

  • not worth it!! its more expensive than the 27 inch iMac.

  • no its not the cinema display is $900 bucks the imac starts at $1199 bucks

  • awesome video man!!!

how did u connect the cinema display to the imac?? if u had it hooked up to the new macs id understand cuz they have the mini display port! or am i jus stupid not to know that the older ones do to. :P

  • ya I think they should stop referring to it as an LED display...it will confuse people making them think its an OLED display which will be much better and way more expensive....my MSI netbook came with a backlit LED display so its not like its cutting edge technology...

  • Mark.

I really think you should compare it with the HANNSPREE at Best Buy. They sell a 23" and 20". I feel for the money, there is no better monitor up there when you just take a couple steps back and walk back and forth between Best Buy's selection. The LG comes close or ties it.

I think that it is important to include what Best Buy carries because if you are like me, I'd personally not buy a monitor online, I have to see it in person.

    Thanks. J.R. St. Louis, MO

  • "no dead pixels" i would be pissed if i got any after paying 900 bucks. lol

  • Looks great but I think it's too expensive.

  • im using a Samsung Syncmaster T220HD its good but it was pricey for a 22inch monitor, well not as pricey as the apple cinema display=)

  • 899?!?!?! What the fuck!!!

I hate Apple now. What the hell 899, my god.

  • I'm using a 20" Hp with my Macbook. Payed $139.99. Works and looks amazing.

  • these people are so dumb it is so expensive because it is LED

  • $800 for a 24in monitor is just too much.

I've had a 20in Dell since 2006, never had a problem, looks great.

  • After all, you can get a 25.5 inch ASUS LCD moniter for about $300.

  • iono $800 is a little too much for a what was it 24 in display?? i can get 42 inch for $700...1080p :/

  • but its not LED is it so look at the price of a led tv

  • well. in all fairness neither is the cinema display. its led back light.

  • Cool!

  • yeah i can see what your talking about with the yellow, thats crazy

  • Good review - I think the LED has similar colours/quality as the new iMac's.

  • im using a samsung syncmaster 2232bw as an external monitor for my macbook. its a few years old but it works and it almost double the screen size of my mb.

  • i have the Apple 24" LED Cinema Display :)

  • CALIBRATE your screen! can get the imac to look much better!

  • +1 you could easily get rid of that yellow tint and get it similar (though not as sharp) to the cinema display

  • I have the same "problem": My MacBook Pro with LED-screen looks sooooo much better than my old black MacBook. The screen from my black MacBook just looks yellow like you said

  • DO U OWN UR APARTEMENT

  • U MUST BE RICH

  • watch his vid on how he affords all this stuff, and please stop with the caps

  • are you sure your using the same color profile for both monitors? Apple has a whole bunch of different profiles for monitors based on the hardware model.

  • In Canada it is $999

  • believe it or not but dell has the most advanced monitors...i know :S

  • I have an Acer H233H 23.6" monitor and its not as vibrant as my macbook pro's screen but its really good for $200. I'm happy with it and would recommend to anyone looking a large monitor on a small budget

  • I have a x233H 23" and the colours like you say arent as vibrant, I have an old Imac set up aswell, the white plastic model. Can you recommend a really good colour profile for me? Thanks

  • It is beautiful soldier. I love mine!

  • Great video, does anyone know if this display will work on a ps3

  • it looks better because its LED which means darker blacks and brighter colors i would definatly buy that moniter!!

  • I have Dual BenQ E2200HD monitors

  • looking at my monitor it is equaled brightness to the apple led monitor its made by dell and its 21.5 inches

  • old imac giveaway? :D

  • Are both monitors calibrated with the same settings?

  • Are you thinking of getting the dual core or the Quad - core imac?

  • what are you going to do with the imac you have now when you get the new one

  • i've got the same imac as yours and its awesome

  • 209th!!!!!

  • cant wait to see the truth about macs vid again

  • Great review Man!!

  • It should have about 2 HDMI ports 4 that price!

  • It should be made out of gold and the glass should be out of diamond for that price...

  • great review man!

  • You should calibrate the color on your iMac display, go to System Preferences/Displays/Color and you can adjust to a less warm/yellow colour. Apple RGB instead of the default gets you closer to the color you liking from the cinema display. But I'm assuming the cinema display will look better anyway as it uses LEDs etc.

  • I agree with you Soldier, I own one and man this Apple 24" LED Display is a beast, works perfectly with my late 2008 Macbook Pro 15" Unibody. NO REGRETS!!!

  • Can I buy your old iMac? lol!

  • I don't use a external displace... but a friend of mine bought a Samsung display... not a tv... the diplace... it looked really good

  • ahh yea indeed Samsung make some good displays there worth checking out.

  • new imac !!!!!!!!!! why, you got the early 2009 model, how can you afford it !

  • he fights for his country, and the youtube ads you see now

  • he dose not fight for them anymore

  • You should calibrate the displays. The default profiles suck really.

  • get a cheaper screen that is better so overpriced

  • you can get a way cheaper screen that is the exact same its just the apple name

  • you are wrong bro, can get a cheaper screen that perform like the Apple 24" LED, I try Samsung, Asus, Dell, HP placing next to the Apple LED Display, man the Apple blown other display away.

  • I use a 22" Vizio HD TV with my MBP 13". Works great, plus it's a TV.

  • Cool!... i`m sad to know that this cinema display here in brazil costs BR$ 3.299,00 (US$ 1.832,70)... =(

  • hay gd video man, yeye i just use a samsung 26" hd tv. you can pick one up now for like £300 and its awesome, plus its a tv!

  • i just got a 32" 1080p toshiba hd tv for 300 =]

  • I've got a feeling that they will be bringing out a 27 inch model to compliment the new iMacs

  • Advice..

low end macbook pro and cinema display.

    or high end 27" imac?

    :)

  • Do you need to take it with you?

  • i'm going uni next year,

but i'm not sure, if i'll be using it for lecture's.

but keep in mind if i get a macbook pro, it'll be a low end 13".

  • high end 27" imac

  • Cinema Display because you don't need to transfer data.

  • Can you plug a cable wire into the back of a Apple Display and use it as a TV? I'd imagine you'd have to get an adapter for it, but that'd be kinda cool.

  • Nice video.

  • set up your monitor properly and it wont be as warm

  • hey soldier could i please make a request for you to mention the Asus monitors because the also have a model that the built in camera and because i dont know anyone that has one..

oh mate one more thing, what resolution do you run your screens at?

    cheers :)

  • are you going to get the new imac

  • you can better buy an imac m8

  • That's the same for Macs and Windows PCs. People say the specs are the same or better on a Windows, but there's that feeling you can't explain that really makes the Mac feel smoother, quicker, and just overall better. Now, I'm not saying Windows sucks, but that's just me relating to your comment on the Cinema Display and other monitors found in stores.

  • basically with apple you get what you pay for, their goal is to give each customer the best user experience. and they do

  • hi thanks fr this great review ,,definetly looking forward for more videos,

i use samsung monitor and u can also use it for ur nex videos, cheerz !

    peace

    bharat

  • This was an awesome review as always. I'd love to buy a cinema display to complement my Macbook but just don't have the cash.

    Tom

  • You can definitely see the difference.

  • you can.

  • Samsung are really good. you don't get high end monitors at best buy..

  • You know they says that the new 27 inch iMac has about the same or more power as a Mac Pro

  • nope, they are made to do different things, ones a work horse the others essentially a gaming rig.......kinna a little outdated but still pretty decent.

  • Since when a Mac was a gaming rig?

  • i was referring to the fact it has a i7 and a HD 4850 in it a little outdated gfx wise but still quite competent for most games... that isnt a working mans gfx card neither is a i7 a working persons chip (professionally speaking of course)

  • There are no 5000 series mobile GPU's out yet, so they went with what they could. They'll no doubt add the newer better GPU's when they next update their line for the higher end machines.

  • :/ i know that i want just making the point that the mac pros are more powerful to users that need to crunch some serious numbers whilst the imacs are faster for general use

  • WOW cool Ingredients shirt lol...

    I WANT ONE!!!

  • i hate the imac screen

  • Does anyone know if apple will release a new cinema display anytime soon?? I am thinking of buying the current one but not sure if i should wait a little longer if they are releasing new models. Thanks

  • they just released one so not likely for a year or 2

  • with the new imac that came out, sucks for you...

  • $899US is Currently $973AU (Australian $s) the Cinema Display is $1499 here in Australia, man are we getting screwed!

  • yes

  • ahhh end of next month that new imac is mine.... oh the sweet sweet anxiety building properties of anticipation i really really need to stop visiting the apple store.

im really glad that this came out while i was still under 2 grand saved i was going to buy the 15 inch macbook pro 2.66ghz and still took me till yesterday to realize mobilty is not that important. any one in the same boat i was in needs to realize that they should really wait if the MBP is that needed Imac quad core is a steal!

  • The cinema display EVEN looks BETTER than the HP TouchSmart's screen! That is saying A LOT too because that screen on the HP is BRILLIANT!

The Apple Cinema Display is up there with the LED HDtv's out there!

    THE BEST!

  • Is it possible to hook up an apple cinema display with an HP computer?? I currently have a 17 inch HP slim monitor that is alright but nothing spectacular. I'm just looking to upgrade and I have noticed that the apple displays have the built in camera and microfone which is real nice. I haven't seen any other model out there that has that feature. Help?

  • Actually, yes! You can hook it up to ANY computer!

    =)

  • Since the new 27" iMac has LED backlighting and, more importantly, an IPS-panel, I don't see the point of buying a separate Cinema display unless you actually need the extra space.

  • And like others have said, you just need to calibrate the display on your iMac. It won't look as good as your cinema display, but better non the less.

  • Yeah.. seem like a case of.... because i can.

  • Actually, the new 27" iMac uses an LCD display with LED backlighting.

It is not an actual LED display. Don't expect it to look as good as the full LED Cinema Display.

  • great vid. both displays look really nice, but u can def tell the difference between the cinema display and the imac

  • Hey Soldier,

Check out the Samsung XL2370 (23" LED Backlit, 2ms response time, 1920x1080 full HD resolution, etc.) for your Truth About Macs video. BestBuy has it listed for $299.99. Hope this helps.

  • yellow like random iphone screens. what the fuck is apple's issue with their displays and this random occurrences of yellow tint! pisses me off. i had to change my iphone twice before cuz of this issue before getting a clear screen, not its in the imacs??? wtf apple?!

  • I the same problem with my iphone 3GS being yellow and was lucky on the second one but doesn't look as good as my 3G. Don't they know it's the screen we look at for these electronics? It should be top notch.

  • i know!! and then they try to come with that bullshit about how its yellow on purpose to be "warmer" and easier on the eyes... they just dont want to admit that they fucked up. if we wanted it easier on the eyes, we could turn down the brightness!! but we'd expect the screen (which is the entire phone) to at least be color correct! lol way too worked up now. lol

  • Oh yeah u can tell the difference.... NICE!!!! Good review...

  • The ACD is using an H-IPS Panel, just like the previous versions, thats why the contrast is that crisp.

Most consumer displays if not all use a TN Panel, although it's great for gaming (very low response time/in put lag/ no ghosting) the drawback is that it just doesnt look good viewing it from any other angle thats not straight on.

  • Also, the only real contender I can think of to go against this is the new Dell u2410, also an H-IPS panel, 24" 1920x1200 display with an 80000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.

    Hope this helps.

  • JUST CALIBRATE YOUR IMAC MONITOR TO MATCH THE CINEMA DISPLAY. Go to the lcd calibration in Displays but click on the expert button and then u can really make it perfect

  • do u NEED the new imac? srsly

  • The save money in my pocket looks even beetter, I love my DELL

  • it wouldve been better if it had a HDMI in put...

  • Yeah. I can't think of a reason why there isnt. But then again im not too smart.

  • Yes! I have one and its AMAZING! Totally worth it! I dont have an iMac though.

  • Think you'll get a new 27" iMac Soldier?

  • your gettin the new imac are u serious wat are u gonna do with so many computers i know everybody wants the latest and greatest but dam i find it dumb

  • Cinema display looks better for two reasons

    1: IPS panel

    2: LED backlighting

  • iSalut!
