  • Hey guys, don't forget that Italians invented it (Magneti Marelli)!

  • Yea, cool engine. Try to spit into a tank, and the game is pretty much over. One tank fill with lower quality diesel, and there goes thousands on repairs.

  • my powerstroke can fire 24 times per cycle

  • yes it is like cise good

  • the same as renault,peugeot,volvo,opel,etc,etc

  • isnt this much the same as toyotas D-4D?

  • ok it's just tdi, but where is the CM system explanation?

  • Engines are engines no matter wat type petrol diesel gas each has pros and cons so debating wat one is best is pointless u would use a cat v16 diesel in a fiat 500 so saying the are toys is stupid.

  • MTU engines and Detroit Diesel invented the common rail since 1985.

  • renault uses common rail 10 years ago, audi and vw only in the last few years. :) so ....

  • VW retains the record for most engine awards than any other automaker in the world. Because of VW, we have the W-configuration engine, the VR-configuration engine, the TDI, GDI, TSI and a diesel variant for every engine they make. VW also owns Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bently and Bugatti. The only Japanese car company that even comes close in performance is Nissan and that is only due to the Skyline's reputation as once being known as the Eurocar Killer.

  • Common Rail - Fiat ! Fucking Audi

  • great video

  • EUDM & JDM = EPIC WIN

  • they failed to mention the engine runs in both directions

  • GREAT VIDEO ! 5 INJECTIONS PER CYCLE , PRE INJECTIONS ADD MORE POWER AND REDUCE THE UGLY NOISE OF DIESEL ENGINES AND POST INJECTIONS ACT AS AN AFTER BURNER IN JET ENGINES ! BUT WHY DO THEY USE AN INTERCOOLER WHEN THEY HAVE TO USE A LOWER OXYGEN CONTENT ??!!

  • The first passenger car to be powered by direct injection was the 1986 Fiat Croma 2.0 TD i.d. (Turbo Diesel iniezione diretta pump was developed by Bosch in accordance to the Fiat's engineers specifications

  • @crosen32

Yes it's right, but it was a mecanical injection like the old TDI by VW/Audi (injectors pump)

The common rail injection use a more performing (and much better in emissions) electronic command injection system inspired from the system use on the gasoline engines

  • Allow me one question:Is the common rail method the same as solid injection in Marine Diesel Engines?

  • @Squarerig

In some times the Marine diesel use a high pressure pneumatic injection (better spray from heawy fuel in big chambers)

  • 25000PSI fuelrail or bust

  • gay! what ever happened to the ways of old!?

  • Germans bulit the best engine on planet earth

  • @logelamutp hahaha. Funny.

  • @logelamutp YAVOLE !

  • @logelamutp No , its japan that built the best engine on earth. But the bodywork of german cars is much better , i agree.

  • @MrRevolution53

BMW won many engine award than any japs car.. WARD AWARD

google ward award - best engine

  • @logelamutp Yeah, DKW

  • @logelamutp Yea...for an example - 2.0TDI...it was just crap, nothing more. Was there anything that doesen't break in it?

  • Fiat invented Common Rail - Audi failed. Once again.

  • @5t3v3n Audi failed? So you're telling me basically that Fiat is better than Audi?? LOL just shoot yourself in the head dumbass.

  • @TheDM75 gm/fiat diesels >>>> audi diesels. its a fact.

  • @5t3v3n Nope, the fact is, besides sounding like a Tractor, it fails even more than one. Had a Fiat Palio Diesel once... NEVER again.

  • @TheDM75 what do you know? the palio IS a tractor. on top of that, there are no diesel engines available which actually produce power. 85hp max ... yeah, great. gtfo.

  • @5t3v3n LOL What? No Diesel engines that produce power? Welcome to 2011, retard, where you can get a Diesel with +200HP for a reasonable price. Fucking moron. This is what happens when you hold on to company's like fiat... just the name is weak...

  • Comment removed

  • @TheDM75 in the car you mentioned fiat only put diesels in it with up to 85hp. therefore the one you drove simply sucks, as you already told. i agree. but a 150hp 1.9JTD is way more fun and emotional, than this 2.0 TDI shit by audi and volkswagen. not to forget the 2.4JTD .... for fun with diesel, go for gm/fiat. common rail = fiat invention.

ever driven an automatic audi diesel? feels like sitting on a toaster waiting for the release to come up, but it actually never happens.

  • @5t3v3n your abselutly right.even the "newly invented dubbleclutch" fromvw audi is the old lancia delta integrale turrbo invention, the fiat concern rule in this...happy new year

  • @5t3v3n FIAT + AUDI + CITROEN = TOYS....... MTU + CUMMINS + DDC + CAT = POWER DIESEL. 4000 SERIES, 3650 HP AT 2000 RPM

  • @davidsohua since you only use capital letters, your credibility is gone forever.

  • @5t3v3n At least AUDI's are built better.

  • @rocknroller123 you just made my day. i agree - in top of the range cars. but not in the a3 oder a4. they simply fall apart soon after roll-out. a3 and a4 are just expensive scraps of metal.

  • @5t3v3n bosch reinvented!! and perfected it!!

  • @mrbreakstuf so reinventing is the new stealing?

  • @5t3v3n fiat lovers hurt...... so sad...... its like saying every car is a copy of a Ford T..... get over it..... it doesnt even say "audi invented common rail"

  • @ERK572 ah yeah, right ... i dont like fiat very much. just pointed out a fact. i'm an alfista. on top of that, audi simply sucks nowadays. build quality etc.

  • @5t3v3n compared to what?

  • @Dettengines to anything else except the vag ... well .. maybe not to lada xD

  • @5t3v3n have you driven any american cars? poorest build quality of all time.

  • Why cant they do tis stuff here in merica?

  • @MrRevolution53 Go stick you finger in a dike

Dutch boy . You have no sence of sarcasm . I despise the the war and the Bush administration that has bankrupted our nation . I live in Thailand now .

  • @jeffrey19621 bush?? bush wasnt good but obama quadrupled what bush did

  • @MrRevolution53 mucho iraquíes muertos. gringos

  • @MrRevolution53 mucho iraquíes muertos. gringos

  • @MrRevolution53 we don't

  • @FutureMarine246 yeah. right.

  • @lankanobi wow.....

  • @MrRevolution53 yes, we're going to "Steel" the oil. We're going to turn the oil into metal for our engines. That's what you were saying, correct?

  • @usmcpound What i´m saying is actually that you amerikan people doesnt care about efficiency !

  • @MrRevolution53 I think it's stupid to generalize like that. I have a VW TDi, and I'm American.

  • @MrRevolution53 more like 8 litre v10s....

  • @MrRevolution53 wow people actually found away to argue about this video???

  • @MrRevolution53

By 'steel' you mean pay money for it, like everyone else in the world?

Oh no, gas is cheaper at the pump in America, they must be stealing it! No, our government doesn't tax the shit out of it here, that's all.

Americans use more gas than any other country they must all drive huge trucks! No, we just have a big ass country to drive across. Take a look at a globe sometime you idiot.

  • @MrRevolution53 I agree, my old 2002 A6 4.2 still outperforms the 5.7 Hemi. In America, people believe that a larger displacement equals a better unit, but the Larger displacement equals more weight, less efficiency, and horrible mileage my 02 gets about 32 mpg on 87 octane. My Charger only got18 mpg if I was lucky enough to find a station that had 93 octane. The front suspension is shot because of the motor being so damn heavy, plus it does not have ESP like Audi. US Car = Crap

  • @jodyjerm30 Yea ,for example , if they put an 2.0 TDI in the lincoln navigator , it woud be much faster as it is.Why waste so much fuel.

  • @MrRevolution53 I agree, the 2.0 TDI would be an improvement to most American trucks, or even the 3.0 Turbo Direct Inj or the 3.6 VR6 FSI like what is in the Audi Q7, a truck that weighs over 5,000 lbs and yet gets nearly 30 mpg and pushes the heavy body along like a compact car. That is hard to compete with considering most American trucks weigh over 5,000 lbs and get less than half the mileage and sometimes less than a third of the mileage that the Q7 gets. US Car = Crap

  • @jodyjerm30 you need to come to australia mate, we got 98 octane , 93 is our lowest

  • @andrewbthomson in europe we have 100 octane and 95 is our lowest...=))

  • nothing will ever ever get better than japan

  • @xxxbmxerxxx1 Shut he fuck up is any japanese team winning 24 hours of leman with a diesel year after year like audi is ? I don't fucken think so.

  • @MidShipCivic yes japan does infact win year after year the nissian skyline proves it its a 6 cylender and will beat a 12 cylender car that should tell you somthing about japan and there manufactures they are top and will always will be on top japan dosn't really play around with disel engines but if you are talking racing and reliability that you should just shut up right there

  • @xxxbmxerxxx1 Shut up you're just some stupid 20 year old who doesn't know jack shit about an engine skylines are not in 24 hours of Lemans winning 24 HOURS RACES DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT IT TAKES SKYLINE 6 cylinders ? the RB26 IS OBSOLETE YOU FUCKEN RETARD. The new GTR uses a completely different engine you should be talking about that more than a peaky 2.6 liter engine.

Now shut up and appreciate the engine in the video that make 20X the torque of an RB at idle.

  • @MidShipCivic you would keep you moulth shut if you were smart becouse you are making your selft look dumb and dumber you don't know jack about cars and yet you keep blabing you'r moulth back and foward i am 15 years old and i am a machanic and i will tell you this much the gtr r34 skyline 6 cylnder can beat any audi is that clear and that 2.6L can beat an audi engine thats 6.0L see the driffrence and the fuel it takes and is still will not keep up with the r 34 get you head straight japan #1

  • @xxxbmxerxxx1 So you're 15 years and you can't even spell mechanic a stock 34 GTR IS SLOWER THAN than AUDI R8 and S models stock vs stock.

So you lied in your profile and put that you're 20 years old EXPLAINS EVERYTHING go to bed kid JAPAN isn't #1,

  • @MidShipCivic yes im 15 and i can fix what adults cannot i have 7 years of expireance and i learned from my dad and not im 15 turninig 16 and now cats are too simple for me now and i moves on to airforce academy when i am 16 and i will fix jet engines and hoping to get a made in japan aircraft. japan are highly reliabl and if you have ever even had a honda they last a life time and the it takes a 12cylnders to barly barly beat a japan made r34 6cilinders i am not amrican so i cannot good englsh

  • @xxxbmxerxxx1 Go to fucken bed .

  • @MidShipCivic good night hope your audi dosn't brake down on the way home sIlLy FaCe

  • @xxxbmxerxxx1 I see you on this page saying that you're 14 years old you're not smart at all you're just a stupid lil boy. -> watch?v=ir2rFb_ghn0 You're going to be flagged for spam from now on.

  • Comment removed

  • @MidShipCivic whatever you are erguing about, yes, japan is number one

  • Shut your fucken trap. Glad you took the time to come and WATCH an Audi VIDEO.

  • @MidShipCivic idiot, I don't say audi or germans at general are bad, just japanese have better quality

  • @kenjoje Right which is what audi is constantly winning the 24hr of leman with diesel engines where the Japanese are no where to be found.

  • @MidShipCivic I don't want to take part in idiotic arguing japan vs. germany, I'm trying to be neutral and objective. japanese cars are more reliable at average and that's just the fact. however, tdis, older or new ones, are good engines in its own right. talking about japanese sporting abilities, you can't forget many great handling cars they made, and newest example is nissan gt-r that beated porsches and ferraris on nirnburgring. it is on 7th or 8th place on top gear lap time board

  • @kenjoje Lap times have nothing to do with TDI technology where the fuck do you get things are more reliable do you have ANY solid fact to what you're saying TDI for a long time have been the most durable longest lasting diesel engine on the market that pretty much cover the globe where are the japanese and their diesel in north america yep thats right no where to be found.

  • @MidShipCivic I never said it has. it was comment on arguing about sporty potential of some cars. I agree that japanese diesel's weren't comparable until latest years. I also think that especially older TDIs are durable. my father has passat b5 with old TDI engine and it has about 300 000 km and doing fine

  • @xxxbmxerxxx1 that's what I'm saying

  • Black puffs of smoke are usually caused by either a clogging EGR Valve or to rich of a fuel mixture IE you slam down on the accelerator pedal. I have own a few diesels and generally speaking if they are taken care of they will rarely ever smoke. I have only been able to get mine to puff black smoke jack rabbiting from a stop light. I should also add on american made trucks common rail fuel systems only go back to about 2003.

  • all this tech and still you see new diesels chuck a bit of black smoke

  • @gilessmokey Thats caused by the EGR valve

  • @gilessmokey Look up the AUDI R10 race car you will not see any significant plume of black smoke.

  • Yes for TDi, no for DPF

  • Japan 4ever

  • i want a german car.. XD

  • Thanks for the explanation. I hope the USA can get wise and start using more diesel technology for cars!

  • Are all CRDI engings tyrbo charged? Is the hyundai getz crdi turbo charged?

  • @dealviinde 95% of all diesels are turbo'd and yes its turbo'd

  • why with all the pressure of injection, the diesel does not burn instantly?

  • @boilingpoint2 it is burns instantly, in the moment it contacts with oxigen after injection-it is all point of diesel..

  • @boilingpoint2 more pressure=better atomization of the diesel in the chamber

  • @boilingpoint2 because there is no oxygen in the common rail. Oxygen is necessary for combustion.

  • @boilingpoint2 it takes time to convert into vapor, then begin combustion, that takes time, with higher reps, takes more time, and its harder to mix properly with the surrounding air, there is three areas in the combustion chamber, a rich area, a near stequimetrical area and a lean area, the higher the reps, the more fuel in the rich area and more CO and unburned fuel...

  • Interesting

  • yea,, but they forgot to tell you who invented the common rail sysyem,,,,,FIAT!!!

Bosch bought the patent and have been milking it ever since,,,,

  • Why is this new? They've been out for almost 6 years now. I remember seeing them at Siemens in 2003. Just look up piezoelectric injector. Only took 6 years to put into a street car that seems like a long time

  • nice.

  • well usefull thanks!

i think il put sumthing about that in my coursework lol

  • thnaks a lot for sharing!!!!!!!! great !!!!

  • nitrogen oxide not nitrous oxide.. Nitrous oxide is N20 nitrogen oxide is NO2

  • well nitrix of oxide @TypeR891
