To people trying this, I had to try a few times to get the white screen, I thought it just wouldn't work for me, but I tried several times, and eventually got it to work. If you can't get the white screen first time, don't be disheartened, keep trying.

Thanks for this.. i was going mental trying to get ireb to work.. Did what you said, had to unplug the iphone a few times and put it back into DFU mode before the white screen would come up, eventually it did finally happen.. iphone is now up and running

@mmajinn Well with my method, I can guarantee that iReb will work. What version of iTunes do you have? Also, if Sn0wbreeze is asking for a 4.0 ipsw, that you are using the wrong version of Sn0wbreeze. Click on the description for the links for the right iReb file, and the RIGHT version of Sn0wbreeze. Keep me updated!

So far so good. iTunes is currently installing my custom 3.1.3 IPSW on my 3G iPhone. Had to revert back to this version because iOS4 sucks. The performance is so slow it makes your iPhone almost unusable. It works great on my friends' 3GS units, though.

i have a 3g that won't power on. i can connect it in dfu mode but since it won't turn on i never get the white screen and whenever i try to restore it the iphone disconnects itself from itunes when it says preparing for install. please help.

@devonlopez Does it give you any errors when it disconnects from iTunes? Also, what do you mean it wont power on since you say you can get it to DFU mode and iTunes atleast recognizes it. Do you mean it wont BOOT?

@cvantwout1 If at all possible, have two computers. One will have iTunes 9.0.2.25 or lower (May not even need iTunes but if installed must be lower than 9.0.2.25) and iReb to get phone to "White Screen". Use second computer to use Sn0wbreeze 1.7 for CFW and iTunes 9.2 to install CFW. I haven't had a chance to use this process so let me know how this works and REPORT SUCCESS OR FAIL PLS.

@cvantwout1 Well that is a toughie. My fix is to get iReb to work. When you get iReb to work, it prevents any 1600,1601, and 1604 errors due to custom firmwares. Now heres the tough part. I am trying to make a fix for 16xx errors on 4.0, but have not had enough time to find one yet. Now to get iReb to work, you need iTunes 9.0.2.25 or lower for it to work. You need iReb to bypass 16xx errors. You need iTunes 9.2 to install any iOS 4 FW. Big problem!

@AFaraz10 From my experience and research, error (2) or even (1 or 6) is an issue because you most likely uninstalled Apple's Application Support or it didn't install properly. Re-download the older version of iTunes from the link after you remove EVERYTHING iTunes related. Make sure its an uninterrupted clean install. Some people have had success using this method on another computer that has yet to be updated from an older version of iTunes. Hopefully this works for you!

@AFaraz10 Also, I am assuming you are trying to do this for 3.1.3. If you trying this for 4.0, MAKE SURE to use Sn0wbreeze 1.6.2 as this has a fix for the iTunes error (2) that users have reported using Sn0wbreeze 1.6 and 1.6.1. Let us know if this helps, and any other errors you encounter and we will do our best to get you jailbroken in no time.

I had an unlock iphone 3g 16gb. 3.1.2 with geohost blacksnow. but after some time my iphone start getting slow and i couldnt use Wifi on it. but I finly update it on itunes after reading some post on different sites that there is an unlock availbe for the new update (3.1.3) and now it is locked and I cant unlock it agian.

I can see Snowbreeze loading but after that, error 2 comes back.

@markamacias nope, immposible for iphone 3GS, but i found out as i was looking for a solution that though it wasnt possible to put 3.1.3 without upgrading baseband, cuz theres always errors, with the new 4OS comming out, as soon as it comes out the new 4.12 baseband UNLOCK will be released, for 3.1.3, and 4 i think, so i only have 2 wait 8 days more, and i will be able to unlock, i upgraded to 3.1.3 as i didnt have any other options, and using my iphone as an itouch wid camera until then xD

@streetballa48987 Think I found a fix. You have to use Sn0wbreeze again. This time, select advanced, and make sure to NOT select activate! Seems to be a Sn0wbreeze issue that is automatically selected when you select simple mode.
