food for thought: when the Holy Spirit descended on the 70 elders in the desert (Num 11:25), they prophesied instead of speaking in tongues. 1 Cor 14:5 makes a clear distinction between speaking in tongues and prophesying, so it cannot be the same. The Holy Spirit descended on John the Baptist while he was still in the womb (Luke 1:15) that was before he believed anything.
Let's keep searching scripture; from these few examples we can tell that the Holy Spirit is not limited to one formula.
@poke089 well first off they didnt not recieve holy spirit in same way has for NEW COVENANT.. secondly John baptist recieved spirit still under old covenant.. in other words CHRIST SAID AFTER HE LEAVES HE WILL SEND COMFORTER TO DWELL IN A PERSON TO SEAL THEM... so those scriptures i understand but have nothing to do with baptism of holy ghost for those who will be saved. and i agree speaking in tongues and prophesying can be different. whats that got to do with anything.. good points though
@BrothaMinister AMEN!!! AND HALLELUJAH BROTHER!!! WOW! =D TRUTH!!! JESUS IS PLEASED I DO BELIEVE!!! =D BE BLESSED ABUNDANTLY IN JESUS NAME!!! THAT WAS A BLESSING!!! =)
@BrothaMinister 1 Corinthians 12:27-30 "Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it....Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues[d]? Do all interpret?"
Clearly tongues can be A sign of salvaion but they are not THE sign of salvation. Faith is SALVATION and THEN if God is willing he COULD give you the gift of tongues as well as many other gifts.
IN ACTS "Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?"
their reply was, "We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost."
They were asked, "Unto what were ye then baptized?" They replied, "Unto John's baptism." Paul then said, "John verily baptised with the baptism of repentance, saying UNTO the people, that they should BELIEVE in HIM which should come AFTER HIM, that is on Christ JESUS."
Question: to Yeshua, the holy ghost took the form of a dove (in Luke 3:22) and in Acts 2:2-3 the holy ghost took the form of a "tongue of fire", a flame/wedge of fire. Is there a reason for the difference? If it's the same spirit that Yeshua had, according to Acts 2:33, then why is the manifestation so different?
Also, should we expect a loud noise from the sky, like the clamoring of a storm booming all over the place, when it descends (like in Acts 2:2) ?
also, another question: does 1 John 4:2 speak of another way we can tell whether or not a person has the power of the Holy Ghost? If not, could you please shed some light on the meaning, thank you.
He hit it dead on!! "The gift is NOT tongues, the GIFT IS the Holy Ghost" The unsaved are obsessed with disproving the tongues as if the Holy Ghost is ONLY speaking in tongues.
@HugosGarden "7 If anyone speaks in a (AY)tongue, it should be by two or at the most three, and each in turn, and one must (AZ)interpret; 28 but if there is no interpreter, he must keep silent in the church; and let him speak to himself and to God. "
Is this the order that is followed in your church? 1) Is there more than 3 people that speak in tongues? Do they do it in turn or at the same time? 2) Is there an interpreter? If there is no interpreter he must keep silent in the church.
@HugosGardenWhat if the Holy Ghost gave a person the gift of Prophecy, healing, and interpretation, but not tongues? And he hates his sin and is out preaching the Gospel to everyone around him. When he dies is he going to heaven or hell?"
@nikechic619 If a person is born of the spirit they WILL speak in tongues. The "gift" of tongues is not the same as SPEAKING in tongues as the initial sign of spiritual birth, not every one will have the "Gift of tongues" as it pertains to edifying the church. As far as healing and prophesying, If you don't have the "spirit", how can you have "Gifts" of the spirit? Your question is strange considering this video spells it out for you.
@HugosGarden amen . this chick has been so oppostional to truth dont even waste your breath on her.. she makes false accusations and etc.. she doenst even listen to the whole video.. and she gave me here testimony before if you heard it you would know why she dont beleive in baptism of holy ghost...
@BrothaMinister You can argue with me but you can't argue with scripture. So did the Egyptian Eunuch speak in tongues when he was saved? Or is he in hell?
@BrothaMinister So my testimony is not as good as yours minister? How so? If my testimony was that I heard the Gospel and believed, and If I can give a testimony of the Holy Spirit convicting me of my sin thus leading me to repentance, how can you make such a bold claim that I do not believe in the baptism of the Holy Ghost? What kind of minister are you really? The works of your flesh are evident.
@HugosGarden Did the Egyptian Eunuch speak in tongues when he was saved? Or did he go to hell for not speaking in tongues? Oh the Bible doesn't mention him speaking in tongues? But we should ASSUME he did right?
@nikechic619 The bible doesn't say the Ethiopian Eunuch was filled with the Holy Ghost, it says "...He went his way rejoicing." A person can rejoice with out benefit of the Holy Ghost, so neither you nor I can read anything into it beyond that.
@HugosGarden We just want to make sure that he is not leading people astray by saying that tongues is a sign of the Holy Ghost and salvation. That would be false teaching.Because you know deep down from reading the Bible that many people were saved and did not speak in tongues. The evidence of their indwelling were the fruits of repentance, not speaking in tongues. Think about how Juanita Bynum and all those false teachers have a following. They all fake the tongues and think they are saved.
@HugosGarden I bet you know some people that have "spoke in tongues" and their lifestyle does not look like one of a truly regenerated believer. This is because once you say an outward "sign" is evidence, people want to be accepted as a true believer. So they go on and "speak in tongues" This is sad. God never said the sign of true salvation would be speaking in tongues. But he did say that we would know them by their fruits. Don't you love them tongues speakers that beat their kids?
@nikechic619 WHY ARE YOU STILL TALKING... your flesh is disturbed.. lol your the contentious one.. but i invite it.. if your so right COME TO OHIO I WILL PAY FOR IT.. atleast call my phone 740 526 1339.. put your testimony up on line the one you send in an email to me... YOUR THE CONTENTIOUS ONE.. i put a video up and you came against it.. thats cool though so now i say since you disagree LETS DEBATE IT like elijah, paul, jeremiah, ezekiel, and Jesus would.. wouldnt they?
@HugosGarden Just test the spirits my friend. Not all of them are from God. There is a distinct freedom we get when we have the Holy Spirit in us and we are true followers of Christ. Many who claim to speak in tongues and think they are saved because of it are still slaves to sin. We see it too many times.
@HugosGarden So you think that since he went away just "rejoicing" we was not really saved? I think most will agree that this meeting with Phillip caused him to be a believer. Yet you are doubting his salvation because the Bible failed to mention that he spoke in tongues. Or you are going to add your own interpretation and say "well maybe he received the Holy Ghost later on, but the Bible just doesn't mention it."
@HugosGarden The Ethiopian Eunuch founded a Christian community there that still exists today.
You cannot explain why the reformers and the revivalists from the first and second great awakenings never used glossolalia (jibberish). And they specifically taught that Christians ought to be baptized in the Holy Spirit.
@BeholdTheSonOfGod wow, now you are following me to other channels? This is getting really creepy. Dude, you can't bait me with these lame taunts, I'm really starting to think you are some weird stalking nut.
@HugosGarden "If a person is born of the spirit they WILL speak in tongues."
Wow, Luther, Hus, Wesley, Whitefield, Edwards, Finney, Booth, Moody, Torrey, Tozer, Billy Graham too?
Funny how the only mention of glossolalia throughout church history was by fringe gnostic groups like the Albigenses and people who rejected the Scripture like the Shakers, early Mormons, etc.
You sure judge a lot of people without finding out what God thinks. LOL
@HugosGarden no they will not all speak in tongues, whether you say its different from the gift of tongues, or not, for if what you say is that the evidence gift is different from the gift of tongues, the evidence of speaking in different tongues is taken from the scripture relating to the gifts, and all the gifts are not given to everyone, you will say there were diverse kinds of tongues and this is the evidence, sorry they are still included in the gifts, so not all can have them, hope it help
@ThePatooch Well, it isn't what "I" say. Spiritual birth is defined by the word of God. I said a person who is "born of the spirit" WILL speak in tongues, that is the sign of spiritual birth in the bible (Acts 2:4, Mark 16:16-17, Acts 11:14-17)Tongues is the initial sign that you have received the spiritual birth,(Acts 11:14-17). If you have not received the "spirit", then how can you have any "gift of the spirit" IE the "gift of tongues?"
@HugosGarden yes it is defined by the word of God, not your interpretation of it, thousands got saved in acts, and a few speaking in tongues does not make it the sign for all, plus the gifts of God differ according to the grace of God, romans 12 and not all will speak in tongues 1cor 12, is God a liar, no way brother; in the body of Christ not all will speak in tongues the word says, so how can all speak in tongues, hope this helps you,, for you believe the traditions of men, and not God
@ThePatooch The "thousands" of people saved in acts, I assume you mean the people in acts 2:41. The bible says they were baptized, and that nearly 3000 were "added to them" it doesn't say they received the spiritual birth. Assuming they did, peter said to them in acts 2:38 repent, be baptized for the remission of sin, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost , why would they in the upper room speak in tongues but not the near 3000 when receiving the SAME spirit (Acts 2:39 Mark 16:16-17)?
@HugosGarden in answer to your question why wouldnt the thousands speak in tongues when those in the upper room did, is because your locked into the belief that because they did al should. this does not concur with the revelation of the body of Christ in 1Cor 12 where God has stated that each member has gifts that differ, and not all will share the same gift, for their function within the body, that we all have a care for one another, and need one another to grow effectively , hope this helps
@ThePatooch Well, that isn't an answer, it's basically a response that says "They wouldn't have spoke in tongues because your belief is wrong." spiritual baptism is literal, it isn't "faith" (Joel 2:28, Acts 11:14-17) You have to "believe" yes, but faith is what leads to spiritual birth it isn't "the birth". Peter said repent, be baptized for the remission of sin and ye "shall received the gift of the Holy Ghost". The Holy Ghost isn't "belief" it's literal.
@HugosGarden i dont know what you are trying to say, i will just state what the word of God says, at the moment of belief in the gospel message brought about by the gift of faith, the believer is baptised by the Holy Spirit and receives the Holy Spirit in their hearts, the baptism of the Holy Spirit places the believer in the body of Christ where he receives his gift or ministry for his function within the body. the same gift is not given to all. hope this helps eph 1:13 2Cor 1;23 rom 12
@ThePatooch No, that is the sinner's prayer. Just as consuming large quantities of alcohol will have the same effects in me as it will you and any one else (slurred speech, staggering), so too does the holy spirit have effects that are common to anyone who receives it, its demonstrated in the upper room, and with Cornelius etc. Jesus tells us in Mark 16:17-18 these SIGNS shall follow them that believe, the Holy Ghost comes with signs, maybe you should investigate why u don't have them.
@HugosGarden i dont get where you get the sinners prayer from, you seem to totally bypass what the scriptures say about when the point of regeneration occurs, at the very verse where peter said to cornelius about believing, he received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and regarding your supposition that i dont have any of the signs, you need a little more grace before you judge, i have spoke and sung in tongues from 15 mins after i was saved, i have seen people healed that i was led to pray for
@HugosGarden also i have moved in prophesy and words of knowledge, so if your going to debate with me show me love and grace, these signs that follow were related to the body of Christ, for not all have the same gifts as the word of God teaches us, in 1Cor 12 or romans 12, but you dont seem to care that is how god has built His church, and it is His word that says those things, investigate the word for yourself not what you have been told by others, the signs that followed the thousands r many
It wasn't my intention to offend or judge, I don't know you so I can only go by what you say. You said, not everyone will speak in tongues when they receive the Holy spirit. Granted, I assumed that you have not spoken in tongues (as the spirit of God gives utterance), based on what you said. If you spoke in tongues having received the Holy Spirit, and I spoke in tongues having received the Holy Spirit, why would you deny others do when they received the same spirit, are we special cases?
@HugosGarden no probs Hugo, as to why we received the gift of tongues and others dont, according to the revelation of the body of Christ in 1Cor 12, and Romans 12, God has said how He has gifted and placed all the members of the body for their function and role within the body, if i preach otherwise i would be preaching a different gospel, this doctrine of the initial evidence or the essential evidence is now dead in the water, proved to be a doctrine of error.
@HugosGarden also regarding the spiritual birth that happens at the point of believing eph 1:13, where you receive the Spirit of promise the Holy Spirit in your heart 2cor 1:23 and are baptised into the body of Christ and endued with a gift or ministry for your function within that body.
@ThePatooch read the book just out where God destroys this doctrine of error called" the death of a legacy of error" a prophetic word of correction to the church, hope this helps
@HugosGarden "All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All are not workers of [miracles, are they? All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they? But earnestly desire the GREATER gifts." 1 Cor 12:29-31
@HugosGarden You are obsessed with proving that tongues is proof of the Holy Ghost, when many people in the Bible were saved without it. Not unless you want to tell me that all that received the Gospel but were not mentioned as having spoke in tongues are all in hell.
@HugosGarden Theology 101: You cannot be convicted of sin without the Holy SPirit in you. Tongues is for the UNBELIEVER. In Acts the miracle of tongues (languages) was used to deliver the Gospel to those unbelievers that would receive the Gospel and repent. They heard the Good News in their own language and so they believed. On the spot most of the men became believers. Now did the Bible say they then spoke in tongues as evidence that they had believed? No.
@nikechic619 been reading your replies with interest brother, and this in my opinion is the first time you have said something wrong, tongues do not spread the gospel, for the word says even then they will not believe. if tongues is for spreading the gospel, the church will never be built. but uptil this point i agree with you with the rest of what you say, hope this helps you God bless
@HugosGarden "The unsaved are obsessed with disproving the tongues as if the Holy Ghost is ONLY speaking in tongues." LOL. Interesting combination of a straw man argument with an ad hominem.
I'm saved holy ghost filled and fire baptized speaking in tongues where God leads me and directs my path my sister erica keep seeking God he will save you and give you this gift when your ready to leave your past behind you God will save and make you a new creature may God bless and i will keep you in my prayers
you will recieve... just keep seeking through prayer YOU WILL RECIEVE ITS A PROMISE. JUST TURN FROM KNOWN SIN AND WHEN READY GET BAPTIZED IN JESUS NAME AND YOU SHALL RECIEVE..
Amen my brothers in Christ. Preach what you know. God bless

I am surprised at the use of foul language at 6:56 "and all that other (expletive deletive)"
Which Holy Ghost did you say you received? Is 'that' the 'genuine tongues' you are referring to?

Not unless you want to tell me that all that received the Gospel but were not mentioned as having spoke in tongues are all in hell.
nikechic619 6 months ago
@nikechic619 Saved without tongues, not saved without the Holy Ghost. You can only be saved if you have been baptized with the Spirit.

@nikechic619 Keep kidding yourself, you've heard the truth and are now without excuse, best wishes.
