  • How's the child's speech?

  • My sister is 5 and has staring seizers since she was I think two and has been on medicine and the doctor just said that her brain was cleared and was lessoning the amount of medicine but had another staring seizer this morning that hasn't happened in a couple years bless he everyone

  • Sad, but a great example of the tonic phase.

  • I think this is helpful for people who may not understand the condition. Thank you for posting this.

  • Another med student here. Thank you for posting, great help in understanding the clinical presentation.

  • Thanks for sharing! Something similar happened to my 16 mo old the other night. Didn't last nearly as long, but enough to make me, my mom and sis worry. Her pediactric nurse suggested that we go to the ER. They didn't take it seriously. I'm kind of glad that she's not branded with epilepsy at 1 yo. Hopefully it will just go away and not get worse *crosses fingers

  • this made me hungry for some reason xd

  • My daughter does the same thing, The doctors dont know what it is, this video is the only one that shows the same thing that my daughter does, but hers only last for 30 seconds to a minute, Doctors cant seem to figure out what it is, Only a mother would know that there is something completely wrong. So yeah this video does help other me, me for example. :) thanks.

  • but is she breathing wat can u do to help her stop

  • Thanks! This can be very helpful to other families and even healthcare professionals newly up and coming into the special needs pediatric field, whether straight out of school, or more experienced professionals making a transition across specialties... I haven't read your channel/profile. I hope all is as well as it can be. Bless your child and y'all.

  • is this real life???

  • @Frypanfacegook

    Is this just fantasy?

  • love to her, my wee nieces has this, shes a year now, love to jenelle xox

  • This is exactly what my 20 month old just started doing. She had one on Friday and then again today, just 2 days later. Was perfectly heatly before. Her body stiffens and her mouth droups to one side and her eyes are spacy. She just not there. Not sure how else to describe it. She has an EKG on Tuesday so hopefully they have answer. Wanted to know if there is anyone I can share my video with that may have the same thing. Not yet comfortable putting it on YouTube. Tryin to find answers...

  • Take Some Of Her Clothes Off Being To hot Could Provoke A Tonic Seizure

  • My son has been having absences for just over a year now, he was admitted to hospital with what was a suspected seizure but the paed sais as he was conscious it was probably not a seizure, he has several absences but again these have been discounted as absence seizures as apparantly they last too long, the absences can last several minutes but apparantly absence seizures should only last a few seconds, really confused after seeing this as the absence clearly lasts a lot longer.

  • Thank you for posting this clip. My son his first seizure last night but i was not there to witness it, therefore I am not able to identify when his seizures are starting. Now from watching your video I have a better understanding of what to look for when/if he has another episode. Thank you again for your wonderful resource.

  • You must be shame for uploading this video !

  • @Skase23 You see strongly i disagree with that because i am 12 turning 13 and i have had atleast 5 or 6 seizures in the past and i am trying to atleast see what they look like or how you feel because when i would have a seizure i wouldn't know what's happend or happening so this video also gives me a strong idea

  • @Skase23 I FUCKING AGREE FUCK U GUYS

  • @Skase23

They did it for educational purposes, asshole. People need to know what symptoms to look for when someone is having a seizure, hence the video. Maybe you should be ashamed.

  • Is it painful for them or dangerous?

  • my son has lennox gastaut syndrome too, and i was looking on youtube because he has started having really odd seizures, as well as his clonic, tonic, absences, drops, spasms and myoclonics. i find these videos very helpfull and unless you have a child with a condition like this i dont feel you have any place to make a comment about videoing your child, and it helps the doctors toom, ive recorded my son many a time

  • poor cute little darlin

  • aww bless her wittle heart :(

  • .... =o....oh no

  • She's pretty. I hope she's getting better from it now :)

  • rett's disorder succes cure mine twitter please go!!"phoenix7412" seoul

    that cure before&after

  • shes a darling, may allah(god) bless her

  • aww:( live long little child

  • Wow, that was a really long seizure.. o_o" is that normal?

My seizure last for 30-1minute and I though it was long.. night seizures thought :o

  • These seizures as in the title are Tonic Clonic Seizures.

I have these when i'm overheated or a lot when i'm eating my dinner.

  • @heslop01

Can you see anything during these seizures? Just a question.

  • I still see during them

  • yes

  • poor baby, hope she's feeling alot better now...

  • poor baby

  • its not always smoking and its not always genetic.. my daughter has a condition called dravets syndrome (severe myoclonic epilepsi of infancy) and i smoked but its genralised and certainly not genetic i no how you feel with the fits x

  • Awweeehhh Im Sorry, Was She Diagnosed with Anything? My Cousin Has Had Tonic Seizures Sinnce She Wsas Really Small, and Hope She Gets Well Soon

    Xoxo God bless

  • cute baby..feel sorry for it too...dont you think its a bit too young having a seizure at 2 yrs old?

  • Nope, you can start at any time, really.

  • i had one at birth, it's not too young

  • thats sad my sister was born with Seizure she is now 17 but it is still hard ppl make fun of her and stuff she has 5 to 20 a day and she has a tumor in her brain. she has all types of Seizure

  • How long did the longest last??

  • Jenelle has had cluster seizures that have lasted 2 days or more. Her longest absence seizures has gone 2 hours, and her longest grand mal has gone 20 minutes

  • I have had epilepsy since I was 3, and I am now 22. It terrifies my mum every time she sees a seizure, and my friends too. But you are not alone.

  • Was wondering at what time did this happen? Was it shortly after going to bed or early morning? How long did this episode last? What was the longest episode? My son is going thru very similiar episodes. He has taken every test that is imaginable, however the Neurologist has ruled out seizures. It is so hard to know whether to rush them in or not. God bless your child and give you strength when the episodes come on..Its very hard to see your child like this. Thank you for sharing this video.

  • Has your child had a video EEG?

  • Yes, quite a few. She has Lennox Gastaut syndrome - a type of Epilepsy

  • she is beautiful. My brother has frequent seizures every 4 months or so but when my father had him he didnt know what to do so he grinded his teeth down to nubs, if not already you might want to invest in a teeth guard for her.

  • I help support 7 people who live in a house and all but 3 of them have seizures. One woman has AS and she has them so often we barely know anymore when she has them and she also has MR and pica. I hope your little girl the best. just make sure she avoids sugar, gluten, caffiene, and all that junk but I am sure you are both doing a great job. God be with you :)

  • I have never responded to a utube video before, but when I say the horrible resonses... I was shocked....I have twins that have AS and I know how scared you two were during these episodes. Wondering do we need to call the ambulance or should we wait. God Bless you all.

  • Thats totaly the parents choice whether or not to call an ambulance, im a NNREMT-Paramedic, we get seizure calls quite frequently, it tottaly depends on the situation surrounding the seizure, but you should not hesitate at all to call 911, we do not at all mind coming out for things like this, we have meds on the truck that can stop seizure activity, and we can provide high flow oxygen, airway management is huge during seizures.

  • Poor baby girl.

There are meds that work miricles. My dad fell out of a 2 story window when he was 2 and he has seizures. But he takes meds that help it.

    I wish you much luck!

  • shes not even blinking

  • poor baby

  • when babies have seizures they look like there not moving sad i hope she is okay

  • Thank you for posting this

    I hope all is well.

  • omg sad

  • omg that is so sad

  • it saddens me to see negative & "fearful "reactions from some of the viewers like vampyricalcurse, education is the only thing that one can do to help someone they love.these comments of discontent only displays their fear. It sucks to be them ,may god be with them if something happens to someone they love,if they retain any that is ! As a parent of a LGS child... your daughters unflinching faith and courage will light the way. God Bless you

  • Edgar Casey said sezures start in the digestive system. Odd! We are now against all medical system after 2 different 5 day stays in hospital for seizures. Celiac disease was one thing we found for our family to be one cause. Lots of people out there are putting blame on Monsanto and now that they are buying up glutten free products (zantham gum now added to most)and buying up seizure meds we are thinking the same. Eat local organic if you can. Hope you can look into some of these things. Peace

  • My 9 y/o daughter had her first seizure the other day. She had the absent at first...then went very limp....then on the way to the ER started convulsing...then vomited several times. After 2 days in ICU she was as if nothing happened.

Thanks for showing how some seizures may look.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this.....it couldn't have been easy....this footage could save lives.....other parents who have young children....thank you thank you thank you......xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • You're a moron. Having this can help so many parents you dont even know. Some parents may not be aware their children are having seizures. As this does not look like the kind of seizure most are accustom to seeing. So having this on here might save lives and a lot of grief. Get over yourself.

  • um, i dont know much about seizures, what's the difference between tonic, absent, and the other ones?

  • Tonic- The body goes stiff and rigid. If your standing you will fall over. Loss of consciousness.

Absence- Staring and blinking, not losing consciousness but still being unresponsive. Looks like day dreaming.

Tonic-Clonic - First the body goes stiff (tonic) then jerks (clonic) Can last longer than 5mins average is 3mins.

Myoclonic- Little jerks like when ur falling asleep.

Myoclonic-Astatic- AKA drop seizures. Cause the person to literally drop to the ground. Can cause serious injuries.

  • You can tell becuse of the motion in her lips

  • Aww i hope your little girl grows out of these seizures x

  • dont you suppose to turn her onto her side when she is having a seizure

  • i thought you only do that when they are vomiting while having a seizure

  • Not an absent seizure. You do that so they don't aspirate, but this isn't that type of seizure.

  • i think that only parents with epileptic baby can understand why you have to record the seizures and share it so don't mind some rude comments from time to time, thank you.

  • Thank you very much for having an actual video of this. It is helping with a diagnosis with my nephew. The rude comment poster before your last comment was just that.. rude!

  • actually for all you people who dont know anything...you are actually suppose to record the seizure. the doctor is not there when the seizure happens so he needs to know what it was like....yeah maybe it was the brightest idea to put on youtube but maybe this may enlighten some idiots on what their children go through....

  • Actually, I feel that sharing these videos on You Tube is helpful to other families who are trying to determine if their own child is having seizures. Sometimes it helps to see it, so you can see it in your own child.

  • My son has 7 different types of seizures and I have uploaded 2 different kinds onto You Tube. It really does help because even tho he has had epilepsy for three yrs, I still didnt know what an absence seizure looked like until I searched on You Tube and realised he wasnt daydreaming he was having a seizure. So thank you for sharing and I hope your little girl grows out of it soon.

  • @Jenellesmommy This was very helpful for us and for our daughter. Thank you!

  • @Jenellesmommy I am very appreciative that you have shared these videos. I am a medical student currently studying how to treat seizures. I think it is very helpful for to me to see these videos to get a grasp on the different types of seizures. If people didn't put these videos up, then I would just be memorizing words. The images stick so much better. Thank you for sharing.

  • Read the description!! "This is an older clip I found that we took for Jenelle's neurologist when Jenelle was 2 years old (back in 2003/2004)."

  • no edgeheadkyle, maby they filmed it so they could have prof that something serious is actually hapening whit their child, cause they might have been ignored by doctours, or even family and friends, cause no one else might have ever experienced it happen. you can also hear him say 'this is important' at the start of the vid, so his certenly not happy that this is hapening but his glad that he caught something to be worth to worry by others that can help.

  • Thank you for your insite on this unfortunate situation

  • :( poor kid :(

  • Aww poor baby

  • my son used to get this, they last for 20 sec, he seems to look left or right of me as if someome is there.

so strange. it really freaks me out. now, months on hes 2 years old, he rarely gets it, tonight it happened, i was watching him play then he looked up at me and looked left of me- went white and looked like he see a ghost- ran at me and held on to me really tight, he was so frightened, his heart was beating fast and he was shakin. it all started from the absence like in the video here

  • maybe it does have something to with something being there...maybe they really do see something.

  • my seizures went undiagnosed until i was 16...i was having absence seizures since i was 5 yrs old...parents really need to pay attention..

  • My parents didn't know I was seizing and I would cry they thought I was having nite mares till I went to a neuro had an MRI all this info has been lately revealed and I think you are WONDERFUL parents!

  • thank you for sharing I have been doing the exact same thing God bless you for sharing I have been seizing since I was her age and Im 60! and Im trying to get the names of my seizures right again God bless her and you I am going to my neuro again in a few weeks

  • I have grandmal seizures not fun. My boyfriend had seizures since he was two tho. Thats so sad. The reason I watched this is because I have a baby now and since daddy and me boy have seizures i wanted to see what it looks like when a baby has a seizure so i can keep a look out

  • scary

  • hey i have seizures to and trust me their not fun ive had mine since i was 3yrs old

  • aww! im not sure what to say...just so sad to see children suffer thru something.

  • I'm not so sure about seizures

    but I'm learning about them

I know there are two kinds

...but I want to know more about it..

  • lots more than two :(

  • Hi. i have a 18 month sister and she's in the hospital right now cus of a seizure right after eatting peanut. we did a CT to her head and they didnt find anything. now they think its either epilepsy or encephalitis. she would flip her eyes back, hold on very tight, stop breathing, and just stay still for a minute or two. very scary. do you think its epilespy? thanks!

    amy

  • Shes So Cute! I Hope She gets Better Soon.

    All My love xx

  • I have an 18 month old son who also has seizures like this, he has had them pretty much since birth. We have no results on why he has them but at one point he was having around 15 a day in hospital. He is currently controlled with Epilim/Sodim Valprate but his development is about 8 months behind. I don't know any other children with Epilepsy so i do feel quite depressed about it.Has Grace had these seizures since birth?

  • I just found out that my son has seizures. I had noticed that he would stare off sometimes but I never thought it was something like this. We have absolutely no history of seizures. This is scary. My son is going to be 4 next month. He drools and doesn't talk clearly at all. He is very smart too. We have our first app. with the neurologist This tuesday. I think he may have had these since birth. I feel so horrible, I wish his Dr. had sent him for tests! We had to ask for tests cat scan & MRI.

  • Very sorry to see this.

    But shes cute:D

and i hope very much she gets better

(hope very much idt makes sense but u know what i mean lol)

    best wishes

  • Sorry its spelled Schizencephaly... i figured i was missing something..

  • aww.. poor baby

  • I looked this up because my nephew has been just staring into space for no reason lately...now I'm scared...

  • cool; hopefully her doctor keeps up blood counts and liver function tests regularly while she is on this drug

  • Ethosuximide is treatment of choice for absence seizures

  • Ethosuximide is commonly known as Zarontin in the US, and it used for absence seizures. It is a drug that we have not tried. Jenelle's seizure type consists of more than just absence seizures. Currently, we have excellent seizure control with the drug Felbatol.

  • My daughter was in Felbatol for her seizures along with 4 other seizure meds.Felbatol was not working and it has too many bad side effects. Grace now takes Zonegran, Klonipin, & Topamax. My daughter has a condition known as Schizenphaly. She has seizures now between 4-8 times a day. She was having 40-50 of them a day. She's missing over 60% of her brain, but I tell you she is beautiful. She has so much love. Words can not describe what love is for a special child! Take care!!!

    Amy

  • aww! i feel so sorry for her! why is she having seizures at such a young age? im not sure and if there is a clear answer but can you tell me anyway?

  • We do not have a diagnosis for the cause of her seizures. Both genetic and metabolic tests have been inclusive. we think something happened during development in utero.

  • i watched many of the videos and i feel so bad for her! hope they find out how to help her and i will try to do some research even though i dont think it will help one bit! hope she gets better!

  • aww poor sweet baby my heart breaks for her hope she gets better xxoo

  • poor sweetie pie, I hope they are under control now. My nephew has seizures, slightly different to these though.

  • Hello there, My daughter is Baybeblue. You can also find her and her seizures on here. She is 16 months old and has had seizures since she was 2 months old. She also has cortical vision and cerebral palsy along with the delay and epilepsy. She does not sit or crawl and may never talk. I do have therapists for physical and vision therapy and she is already using walking aids . I also recommend getting not only a pediatrician but a developmental pediatrician your neuro will know about this.

  • Thank you.

My son has seizures too and I've been in denial about it. This confirmed what I didn't want to face... that my little boy has epilepsy and you gav me the courage to video my son's seizures.

  • You are welcome, and I am so sorry about your little boy. Please take your videos of his seizures to share with your doctor. Sometimes when the doctor can actually see what is happening, that can help them choose the appropriate medication. Best of luck to you!

  • like does ur baby tell u how a seizure feels like cuz it seems like it hearts the heart and hope she feels better cuz i really feel sorry for her =(

  • sorry if i sound ignorant but is this a siezure? i thought they were more violent shaking. does she just blank out and focus real deeply for ages?

  • Yes, this is a seizure. Before having a child with seizures, I was like you thinking they were only violent like what you see in a Grand Mal. Seizures have many different presentation types, and this is one of them. My daughter has many seizures, and very few are violent. I posted this video (and others) so caregivers can see the different ways in which a seizure can present itself. This type of seizure is a tonic/absence seizure, often referred to as petite mal.

  • My dog is starting to have seizures like this. He's 12 and a half years old. Old black lab.

  • o ok. thankyou for replying.

  • Jennelle's mom, has you daughter had any other developmental complications as a result of the seizures? I have a child who has seizures and a language delay and is in the process of being diagnosed.

  • Yes. Jenelle is 5 now and is mentally retarded, functioning at the level of a 2 year old. She has cortical visual impairment (is legally blind), is non verbal and is fed by g-tube.

  • That's horrible... it hurts to see your baby like that.. hope she gets better...

  • Thank you. She is doing better. This was taken in 2003.

  • It breaks my heart to see this poor child having to suffer from something she has no control over and never asked, neither deserve. I'm sorry, but life is a bitch, always beating on helpless victims who never deserve to suffer.

Mom, I wish you all the strength on the universe to handle, cope, live & over come this misery.

I wish this cute poor little baby out grows this menace, called Epilepsy.

    With my tears & prayers,

    Gerrie

  • How long has she been having seizures? I have a little girl (5 months) that has been having them. It's very scary at first. I too recorded video for her neurologist. You are doing the right thing. Do you know what is causing your daughters seizures?

  • Thank you for leaving your comment. I am so sorry to hear about your little girl. Jenelle is 5 years old now and started having seizures around 6 months of age. She is doing really well now, but still has daily seizures. We do not know the cause.

Keeping your daughter in my prayers.

  • i was at white spot and wesaw this girl lying on the ground just shaking it was so scary,i felt so sorry for her.

  • When I was baby I would get high fevers and have seizures

  • well something happened today...this lady kinda...had a siezure...she jus dropped dead hard on the floor.. she was shakin alot and holding her throat screamin and stuff...it was at my sckool...is dat a siezure?

  • I feel so bad for your little girl, but Epilepsy can be managable, and I hope, if it hasn't already happened, that her neurologist will find a solution to fit her best.

Thank you for posting your video.

Hoping she is well, and wishing you all the best of luck.

    Chelle x

  • in these minutes, didn't you give a drug?

  • Our doctor has instructed us to only give Diastat (a drug that will stop a seizure) when the seizure has gone longer than 5 minutes. Or, if she has an episode of "cluster seizures" that total more than 20 minutes in an hour. This seizure lasted about 3 1/2 minutes. She had two more after it, just as long, so we eventually gave her Diastat to stop the cluster. It is very important to time seizures.

  • Diazepam?

  • Yes, also known as Diastat. With extended use, Diastat/diazepam can be ineffective, so we try to use it as a last resort - in order to keep her from going to the ER, or to keep her from clustering and going into status.

Diastat and Diazepam are forms of Valium.

  • Diazepam is a form of benzodiazepines. It can be effective for Generalized Absence (petite mal) seizures. Talk to her neurologist about Ethosuximide. It is usually the first line of therapy we use for absence seizures here. That or Valproic acid. Wish you the best of luck

  • Thank you very much for posting this. I am an actor studying for a role, and want to avoid a cartoonish seizure. My puppy has epilepsy, I'm gonna record and post his next seizure to help other dogs owners know what to expect.

  • Thanks for sharing this video, I'm in nursing school and my whole nursing class got to watch and study it. It helps us learn the different stages/types of seizures. It is very good that you taped it!

  • Just curious, why is no one talking to her? Is she calm during these or do they scare her?

  • She is currently in a seizure and is very calm during this seizure type. We have no idea if she recalls what is going on during the seizure. Sometimes I do re-assure her when she is seizing like this (i.e. talk to her) but you cannot talk someone out of a seizure, it has to end on its own.

  • Many times, it is very important to capture seizure activity on video, so your neurologist can see what is happening. Often, video clips help point a neurologist to the appropriate medication for the specific seizure type.

I was going to delete your comment, but I think it is important for people to know that they should take video to present to their doctors for confirmation.

  • read the description. it was for her neurologist.
