  • 0:35 "UK, Europe, Asia, that kinda thing".... the world? :D

  • Damn it, why did I touch the screen! :L

  • @RobChappers hey rob can i get a link of where i can buy that dvd you with eddie kramer?

  • Chappers, shouldn't YOU choose what goes into your sig model ?

    Congrats btw, great news.

  • @365Avalon *bit old?

  • @MatthijsBudding It's relevant to the video. It's odd to have a signature guitar built by committee ?

  • @365Avalon But the congrats and the great news are not relevant. You know what news means right? This isn't news anymore xD. It wasn't about your first sentence.

  • @MatthijsBudding Slow day ?

  • You look so happy!

  • hey rob, yeah love you too. you re a nice dude. all of your video were very interesting, instructing and sometimes very amusing. you re are great vid teacher and also a great solo gitarrplayer!!!! actually you re very musical. i would place only two PUs and abdicate the vibrato unit. on/off/on switch for each PU..so that you can switch the in-between position (2 PUs) between seriell, parallel and maybe parallel with/without a capacitor. good luck buddy :-). yours, Michel (de Berlin)

  • I see that flaxwood poster. Are those any good?

  • i would get a custom guitar with a body like a gibson V with the triangle type headstock, white binding all around, some beveling on the back, neck through, with a gray to black burst finish, dimarzio pickups, thin neck, ebony fretboard, medium frets, tune o matic bradge, and infinity symbol fret marker because that was an amazing idea, and either an alder or other interesting tone wood. and another one except a les paul.

  • stationary bridge :D

and the pickups should be with a really thick fat sound

    that would be awesome

  • I also think that a natural finish no the guitar would be better suited for you idea of making the guitar a blank canvas so the guitarrist can paint it in any way he/she wants and bridge wise I dont know if it is posible to make a version with a licenced floyd rose just to make the hole modifying prosses easier for buyers. I wish you great luck and hope your guitars are a succes

  • hey Rob, I really like your idea about this guitar and I hope you have great succes and I just want to share thing that I would like the guitar to have, ive seen the video of the prototypes and its awesome but personally I think that 24 frets would be much better, I like your idea with the pickups so you can create your own sound, in terms of the neck i like thin necks and a good example would be the neck profile of charvel guitars

  • Dimarzio pickups. something close to Yngwie Malmsteen shredd sound

  • Dude :D Congratz on the signature guitar :D. ive always had an idea what my signature guitar would be like, so ill tell you cos you seem like an awsome guy :D. It would be black, or a dark colour, But with a night's sky design on it, so some big stars, some small. And a big half moon somewhere. Hope the idea is totally knew to you and i hope ya like it :)

  • Awesome!! Wow! Great to hear about the Sig Guitar. I would love to see a new Strat that you could exchange the pickups with drop in units, this would be from the back of the guitar. Easy change electronics also done as drop in units from the back, also easy change necks with different, frets, nuts (Locking and standard) and the fret board standard or scolloped. A true Frankinstein guitar.

Good luck, thanks for helping us all.

John (62 year young disabled rocker) from Portsmouth UK now in USA

  • and if your ever bring out a V i will =]

  • im horribly tempted but im still gunna save for that valve stack i have been saving up for for ages. how ever i soooooo would

  • When you say people like me, are there any others you recommend?

  • Justin Sandercoe is a great teacher on Youtube, he actually taught me a bit when I was at ICMP ;-)

  • @RobChappers

definite thumbs up on that recommendation, Justin is great

  • Awesome! your my hero bro

  • Thanks mate, so exciting!! I get the prototypes in about 5 weeks time - Sept time ;-)

  • good work dude

  • locking tuners and an attachable laser/ candy dispenser at the headstock would have won you a happy customer :D

might i suggest for a later model, it transforms into a disco ball? convenient, right? have a dull party that needs brightening up? say no more! pull out that ml2534564(might take a few tries to get it right :D) and boom! instant dance-off. well... on second thought i guess i'd be ok with just a flamethrower on it. btw, it HAS to talk. it gets lonely here :(

  • Ha ha, you need to join my forum mate you are hilarious! ;-)

    Chappers

  • thanks! as of today, i am a flying twig on the monkey lord forum. gotta say, i'm already liking it a lot. not to get all creepy on you, but i think you're my new favorite person :D

  • Ha ha that's not creepy mate, you should see some of the mailI get ;-)

  • ahahahahahahaha ;-)

  • I actually touched the screen ;)

  • Ha ha!! ;-)

  • so did i lol

  • As did i :)

  • I'm touching it now!

  • How about some Arial Pro pickups?

  • how much for teh guitar i just get 200$

  • personaly my sig would be an esp, it would be either an m style exept it would be darker green flamed maple finish with black hardware, or an fx-401 stylewith a pointed headstock and skark-fin inlays, or alixi style ones, i wouldnt go strat, mabey an eclipse/ les paul would be cool, and im wereing a black shirt with a monster energy drink logo.

  • hey will there be any chance that this guitar will be sold in Australia? if not where can i order one online and get it shipped over because u really know what a guitar needs and i want a piece monkey lord in my life

  • Greetings, yes you can pre-order and we can deliver! There is a thread on my forum all about this, get on over to themonkeylordDOTCOM and you will witness the fitness!

    Me

  • awesome monkey lord, i will forever be one of your minions. \m/ rock on!

  • Rob, would it be cost effective to use locking tuners? Getting kids to change their strings and make it easy would be nice. Perhaps adding better than average shielding and maybe a high end volume pot. Congratulations Man! You deserve it! My daughter will have one as soon as they go on sale.

  • Thanks mate I really appreciate that! Yes actually the volume pot will be a Shadow Kill-pot with a built in killswitch! Super high quality ;-)

  • your indeed a artist on youtube my friend.

    ;=)

  • I would try and move away from 'traditional strat' style - the market is overly saturated with those already. WIth your style and people that listen, go for something a bit more modern.

The guitar you described exists a MILLION times already.

Make it DIFFERENT. THat's where the key to a successful guitar lies. PLEASE don't waste this opportunity to make another Strat copy!

  • Does it have to be a Gould...? BandM also do Lag guitars, which are awesome. Get one of those!

  • Make a Road Worn looking strat Chappers cause they looks very good

    :-D

then i think get a humbucker in the bridge position end 2 single coils a hard tail

  • Okay I think the majority of the money should go on the guitar woods-exotic woods are the best. You should get a wedge fretboard and walnut body, YOULL BE 100%%%% HAPPY. and maybe if the budget is just right bone nut with a maple fretboard with a humbucker in the bridge and single coil in the neck. 24 frets.

  • I'll put up $100,000 to have my face on the body.

  • Ha ha... funniest post so far ;-)

  • Does this mean no more ESP/LTD guitars =(

  • shame the Signiture guitar is low end. does it have to be fender like?? there are so many entry level fender type guitars its good to start with something different the just the standard strat shape. Ive never been a huge fan of Fenders in particular but Im not lettting that get in the way of this post, no bias opinions here, only genuine ones. the end of the day its your choice but it just seems so Generic.

  • language language :D

  • - a thin neck profile, 12" radius fretboard, a lil clip for basic tools behind the headstock, locking tuners, 2 humbuchers ,both with split coil capeability. a place to keep the trem block in the back of the guitar, and please have the guitar in a left handed version if it is possible. hope you like my ideas =)

  • left hander's suck the big smith ( the big number 2)

  • have the cutaway like on the esp ec1000, (the 1 for the higher fret acces) have a bolt on neck, but use machine screws instead of wood screws so you can get a tighter grip between the 2 bits, so u get more sustain etc..

  • The problem is the budget is very limited, in regards having decent pickups.

  • -Basswood body

    -Ash top

-Three piece maple bolt on neck (thin U profile)

    -Maple fingerboard

    -Medium frets

-Recessed TOM w/ string through body

-Seymour Duncan Custom-5/Jazz w/ coilsplit by single push/pull volume knob

-Pickups should be mounted on the body

    -Acrylic see-through pickguard

-Big inlay on 11th to 13th fret

  • Neck-thru

    1 volume pot, nothing more.

Bare Knuckle Pickups (Perhaps Nailbomb or Warpig... Or both!)

    Alder Body

    24 frets

No inlays, except a monkey at 12th fret :D

  • uhhh... active black outs kick ass. floyd rose is good. but make one with and without. so people can choose if they wanna shred with it or tune fuckin low

  • 3 humbucker where all 3 work at same time with a good whammy 24 frets

  • 3 invader p/u, H-H-H, D neck, floyd trem, but watever u do, I PRAY U GET A BITCHIN PAINT JOB!!!

  • Make it a Single/Empty/Hum guitar, love that combo.

  • erm im eating a blueberry muffin and im wearing blue shorts feel my win. thing with strats and fenders is that they come in god awful colours. if your basing it around them please pimp up the paint work and colour choices on pickups. they are really nice guitars they all just look so boring. 24 fret neck, maple pretty cool. i would use dimarzio pickups. evo 2 (my favourite pickup) hum bridge. tone zone single in the middle, maybe a yjm on the neck. hmmm any good??????

  • Personally, I love tone pots. But to get more sounds out of the guitar without one, you could design a killswitch for tone. Maple fret board and neck are the way to go with bolt-on guitars, I don't have a preference about what kind of nut. If you decide to go with a humbucker in the bridge, make it so when you're in the position between the middle and the bridge, it isolates one of the humbucker coils. Oh, and make sure it has bezels on the lower horn and where your arm goes.

  • You MUST have a WILKINSON VG-300 TREMOLO on it together with SCHALLER M6 LOCKING MACHINEHEADS! I know because i've just built an electric guitar with it and it just sings with pretty much fucking ENDLESS SUSTAIN :) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CHAPPERS IS FUCKING GOD TO THE MONKEYS AS WELL AS FOR THE STRIVING HUMAN GUITARISTS!! AMEN!!!

  • Monkey Lord Approved!

  • Swamp Ash body - perfect

Maple neck&fretboard - nice (unfinished) Maybe an Ovankol neck?

I'd personally like a tone pot, although I don't use mine very much.

I'd like the Humbucker to be coiled-tapped.

Wilkinson pick-ups are quite nice for the price. There are quite a few underground pick-up companies that are perfect, though I don't know them.

Standard trem (no Floyd) but I wouldn't like it blocked off.

Bone nut is fine, I have no real preference.

    You're such a lovely bloke.

  • Thanks mate, you should join my forum... there are lots of nice dudes like you there. I will be posting a video of the phase one design tomorrow ;-)

  • Come on Chappers...you know you'd rather play a pink V... seriously I like your ideas right now...only thing I would add is no boring fret inlays...dots are soooo boring. Pickups are more than likely going to leave something to be desired at that price range I would think. Should still be hot sounding pickups though. Other than that though I would probably buy one. I agree wide thin neck and no tone control. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

  • get a brass nut! nut materials tend to be way overlooked, but i've found a brass nut helps the guitar tremendously! they're not exactly expensive either :)

  • its has to have locking tuners everyone hates a guitar that keeeps going out of tune! humbucking pickups are always nice and a killswitch would make this guitar total win!!!

  • Im not much on guitar technology I just like to play them but as far as the style some wicked fret markers would be cool. Maybe embeded ont he 12th fret could be "MONKEY LORD" or a big fat "M.K" and as far as what im wearing my feet are naked right now. ;)

  • Couldn't have happened to a nicer or talented chap. Congratulations mate you really f**king deserve it!

As you've asked for our opinions I'll throw in my two cents since you've asked so nicely ;-)

Maybe instead of a killswitch use 2 volume controls if you're using 2 pickups but if you're using the HSS definitely get killswitch happy! Haha. I was thinking maybe use a stacked single coil instead of a bridge humbucker that you could split for a more 'single coil tone'?

  • Definately maple fretboard. I think scalloped would be cool, because you never see many scalloped guitars, ESPECIALLY not affordable ones.

How about semi-scalloped ? Ive seen that somewhere, you get the feel but they're not done all the way.

As for pickups, I think 2 splittable humbuckers with a 5-way switch would be nice. Dont have the need for a tone knob either.

Also, I think a veneer maple top with nice see thru colors (blue, green, etc) would be excellent with the maple fretboard.

  • Congrates mate a bit of a landmark alright can`t wait to see it and might even buy it . I also agree with what you say about the new media revolution in music . Record companies have ignored technical guitar vertuosity for to long . After porn guitar is the second most searched for thing on youtube fact . The record companies need to wake the fuck up .

  • congrats mate, you deserve it

    bring them to australia :D

btw, i think you should look into Seymour Duncan Blackouts for the pickups, put the Ahb-2 in the bridge, singlecoil livewire in the middle, and a Ahb-1b in the neck, just my 2c worth (:

  • Maybe

EMG 81/S/60, set thru neck, 2 volume pots, killswitch, A wider flater neck, locking tuners, rosewood fret board.

3 piece maple neck, adler body

    22 Dunlop 6100 jumbo frets

    Scale Length: 25.5"

    Width at Nut: 1.650"

    3 way switch

    single coil tap

    single ply pickguard

Thats all I can think of.

  • Umm. This is coming in at 350-400.

    That's a bit much.

  • Man, that is completely awesome.

    I can't wait to see/hear it.

  • 25.5 scale Extra jumbo frets neck-through, Extra thin U neck, flat fretboard Swamp ash body with flamed maple top 5pc Maple/Wenge neck Ebony fretboard (but maple works great too) (natural finish for guitar *fuck yeah*) Schaller locking tuners and vintage tremolo (chrome) Dimarzio D sonic (bridge) Dimarzio Air Norton (Neck) One volume knob w/ hum split for the air norton Oh well at least I jizzed in my pants and I hope you do too chappers and: Congrats rly! Cheers! // Erik
  • first off all well done man ur hard work is paying off and u definetily deserve it

i think a rear route with a flamed mape top woud look awesome man also i think a set neck is the way to go with a medium neck profile whatever u decide to do im sure it wil be epic and il definetiey be gettin myself one any ideas when itl be out?

  • Piezo?

  • Now that i have finished the vid i think that the biggest thing that i like in guitars are those that are all around. Things you can get all kinds of tones from. But the most important is push pull coil taps. Seeing as how you are aiming for a hss maybe make the neck single a single space hum. Any way you slice it i am gonna grab it. also maybe think about a tilt back head stock like the esp.? Always good. Well congrats again chappers. -Thom

  • CHAPPERS! OMG I AM TOTALLY GETTING ONE! CONGRATULATIONS! YOU DESERVE IT MORE THAN MOST MAN! STRAIGHT WIN! -Thom

  • Thanks Thom I appreciate that mate ;-)

  • My pleasure man! -Thom

  • Good news Chap! Well done!

We are talking about a 250-300 quid price point. I don't know if individual limited edition parts would be covered in production costs but the trem blocks are a cool idea, maybe for the next signature model?

My two pennies - set neck rather than bolt on. I just can't get my head around bolt ons.. seems so primitive to me. Something with a vintage strat look but a modern neck profile. Maybe a stacked bucker at the bridge to keep the look classic??

  • Custom hand-written trem blocks would be not a bad idea! Each one would have a slightly different Monkey Lord/win-related phrase or doodle. It wouldn't be so hard for you to whip up 500 of those, would it? Those would sell like hotcakes with your win-infused essence scribbled upon them.

  • congratulations on ur guitar deal :)

  • oops..I meant Bridge p/u...although the neck p/u smokes too.....what about a Seymour Duncan p-rail in the bridge????

  • Hey Rob, nice, your own guitar. Last year I spent the better part of a year playing as many Strats as I could, low end, middle end (mmmm, middle end??? where's that) and custom shop. I ended up buying an Eric Johnson signature...well..simply because It's got to be the best production Strat out there and left pretty much all of the custom shop Strats wanting. I think there are some top aspects to this guitar and might be worth a look. I especially love the 12inch fretboard radius & neck p/u...

  • I'm actually from Hawaii, LOL

  • would a tuneomatic bridge be an option?? I think I have never seen it on a strat type...

  • I'm happy for you, Hope you have a great future with them

  • WOW! Congrats on getting a signature guitar!! You must be feeling great!

  • im not wearing anything

  • hey dude,

This is awesome news i would be interested in buying such a guitar.

    Strats are awesome!!!

    Personally H,S,S

    coil tappable (bridge)

    Killswitch

1 volume for humbucker and one for the middle and neck pickups.

    Medium jumbo frets, thinish neck

and i dont know about you but really nice natural finish. Actually see the wood!!

When are these beasts scheduled for release?? this year??

  • Include one of your custom made trem blocks with each guitar! You could come up with the custom writing that goes on the back of each one, and it would add to the uniqueness. Hell, make a whole series of these blocks, a "Collect 'em all" type of thing.

  • Reverse headstock is win.

  • Use individual on/off switches for each pick up.

  • Wow. youre a legend chappers....

id like a floyd rose equipped ironing board with 4 x EMG81s. In Yellow. with double-reverse headstock. Dot markers with an inlaid chipmunk at the 12th fret and a chaffinch at the 5th,

i am lefthanded too, so maybe i need a double-uinreversed headstock, i'm not sure.

seriously tho, you are a legend. look forward to seeing the @monkey-axe@

  • Ha ha I love you man ;-)

  • oh yeah, i'm lefty make some lefty models available...

  • big C neck, and jumbo frets, and Les Paul scale...just my two cents...

  • Les Paul scale on a Strat??? Wouldn't sound like a Strat so much then, wud it???

  • Exactly, just like Satriani's signature guitar, it's a Les Paul scale, strat body. It will still sound "stratty" if Chappers does a Hum/single/single combination.

And if you want to sound like a Strat, then buy a Strat. I have a Strat slready, I want a Monkey Lord!

  • That's cool. But when does a Strat stop becoming a Strat??? You wouldn't change the scale length of a Les Paul would you?

  • i touched the screen....i feel the win

  • dude congrats. i have two ideas. the fisrt is instead of having like the traditional three pickup strat if you could make it like a hss strat with a hum bucker (in the bridge position) that would be awesome. It would be even cooler if the hum bucker pickup was something hot that is comparable to gibson pick ups. also it would be cool if you could make the whammy reversable kinda like mark tremonti does on his custom prs. i like the idea of a maple neck. cant wait to see the new guitar.

  • Huge news, Chaps. Congratulations.

Does this mean now that you're not bound by any manufacturers that you can add all those videos you removed due to contract? It's like win waiting to be re-uploaded.

  • wow,congrats,man!

i really can't tell you what i'd like either, cause i like many different things, too, but i'd like to know if you want versatillity(don't really need it too much cause you use many different guitars, right?) or specification(to some extent)

  • human spine inlay all the way down the neck.

  • i have a brillient idea for your new deign... build in a thing which automatically orders pizza, the food of win, when u play well :D

  • you should have a alder body with flame maple veneer and a trans red or green finish. traditional strat tremolo, 1 volume, no tone and a killswitch. maple neck and fretboard, 22 frets, 70's strat headstock or a reverse head? dot inlays and a custom monkey lord inlay at the 12th fret. graphite nut and grover tuners. pickups a singlecoil in the neck and a humbucker in the bridge would be cool. thanks for listening dude.

  • Ah yeah, and since you left ESP and Orange, I'll gladly rid you of all the stuff you don't really need anymore. Just ship it to my place, I'll cover the expences ;-))

  • I have a cunning plan monkey lord.

I have recently played a bass that had a vintage laquer paintjob...it's a special paint that doesn't really dry until 8 weeks after being painted. That way any playing will cause the paint to wear off and you're making your own relic guitar. Wouldn't that be great? Every guitar would be a one of a kind!

  • Ugh... you left PRS, Orange, ESP... you're killing me chappers!

  • Don't think of it as me leaving any companies, but rather joining them all. Now I can have a relationship with everyone! So I can now play PRS, Gibson, Fender, Chapman, Ibanez, Dean.... yadda etc

  • 22 Dunlop 6100 jumbo frets

    maple fretboard

    any bridge pickup you want

a dmarzio single coil in between the bridge and an emg 60 in the neck for that clean tone you know you get with a 60 in the neck

    congrats

    sincerely

    andy

  • Hi Rob, I'm wearing an Iron Maiden shirt and Levi's. Yeah, I know, nothing special. Oh well. Anyway, I had a cool idea. Why not put a slogan on the guitar, such as "Harnessing the Win"? It's just a thought, and could make it more unique.

    Cheers from Canada.

    Will.

  • This is awesome, congrats bro.

I think you should do something on the guitar to leave "your mark". I was thinking nothing too blatant. I would do a Monkey-Lord inlay of some sort on the 12th fret. ;)

Congrats, again bro. And don't overdose on that win.

    Respect.

  • Great news, I can't wait to see the Night Train review. If i could make my own custom guitar i would make an updated 72 telecaster.

    Details:

24 jumbo frets on a maple board

    H(w/coil tap)/H(w/coil tap)/H Pickups

with 3 volume and tone knobs.

Independent volume control per pickup is the WIN.

  • hey rob. fantastic news mate. definatly H-S-S p/ups, just go hardtail bridge man. gotta be a maple neck. something similar to the prs phase 2 locking tuners?? i really dig the killswitch idea. scalloped frets from 12th fret?? I must make u aware that i a currently wearing a danger mouse t shirt and marmalade. Continue to harness the WIN my friend!!!!

  • Great news Rob, good to see all your efforts recognised!

Alder body, maple cap, H/S/S with tap on HB, modern strat C shape (Maple) neck profile, RW board, locking tuners, hipshot bridge

A compound radius from 9.5 inch to 10.5 inch at the top frets for easier top end playing, a bit more lower cutaway than standard strat for access too. Use narrower guage fret wire from the 18th fret upwards for even better fret access too. Finish: Natural with black guard

And a monkey on the HS back!

  • =)!!!!

  • NATURAL WOOD FINISH.

also, a combination of EMGs/Seymour Duncans. I love the bite and grit of an emg 81 in the bridge abd I love the clarity and fullness of a seymour duncan in the neck position. possibly both coil-tappable. no middle pickup. they just get in the way.

  • I couldnt send the picture though i sent the message :D

  • I've done a design should i send it to your youtube account chapper's?

  • string thru for sure, and i personally like hum, single, and single

i like the idea of the hardtail strat

you say anywhere from 200-350 for price correct? sadly theres only so much u can do with 200-350 these days...anyone buying a guitar at tht price knows they aren't getting the best of the best wood like in PRS's and Gibsons, etc... so i think focusing on electronics for sound is key for this guitar

BTW im wear a green t-shirt, a pair of cargo pants, and some socks. Oh yes and boxers! =)

  • Great news for you, mate!

    Congrats =)

I do agree with you on the blocked tremolo. But why don't you just leave the tremolo off?

Pickups; something like the GFS Lil' Killer p/u's (humbuckers in single-coil size, great tone if you ask me).

I would love to see a maple neck and you should do something 'remarkable' with the head (reversed tele-style or something?).

(Although I like the neck of an Ibanez JS1000 too)

A mahogany body with a maple top would be nice too.

    Good luck with the design!

    Bye!

  • string thru body, Hum Single Single Wide Flat neck like a jackson, maybe 24 frets, defo maple neck, tone pots are epic fail, love the idea of the block for the trem, you literally look like the happiest man i can see right now lol

  • Ha ha this is true I am "Signature Happy" ;-)

  • Alder body, Maple neck, Rosewood fretboard, Medium jumbo frets, Earvana nut (nice wee touch), Good tuning machines, Humbucker at the bridge mounted on a Tele style HB bridge with block saddles, Single coil size humbuckers at the neck & mid positions, One volume, One tone, Two mini switches one bridge PU coil split and one 100% volume on the humbucker lead attack switch, Neck & mid pick-ups on scratch plate for easy upgrade, body routed to take neck HB.

PS still like the SC245/Orange kit.

  • string through bridge ftw, id say try and get the neck like the jackson demmel V - its the most shredding guitar fucking ever

  • that's great news :D It's an ideal price as well.

I'm guessing it'll be like a lot of your current guitars? Floyd rose, shredding neck?

  • Thanks mate, I'm looking at a Hardtail strat with some modern appointments ;-)

  • cant wait to buy one! ;-)

  • Congrats dude!! You deserve it!!! I'll buy one of your guitars!!

  • Thanks mate! I look forward to seeing you play one ;-)

  • URGGHHHH god i really want one now! how long till they are coming out? well done! you've worked so hard and look where it has got you! you're getting a signature guitar! you are a great inspiration for kids like me.

  • Thanks mate ;-) Will be a few months before they ready, still designing it with help from the guys here and on my forum.

  • oh cool, not too long then! still cant wait!

  • "thats the feeling of win"...rob....it totally is....lol

  • well personally to make the perfect strat I'd want a vintage style tremolo with locking tuners, 24 frets, no scalloped fretboard, dimarzios, jumbo frets, and a neck through body with an unfinished maple neck with possibly a rosewood or ebony fretboard

  • Congrats Rob, must feel good to be a free agent :) I'll head over to the forums with some ideas

  • See you there mate ;-)

  • You're very much welcome! I can't wait to see the final result! It is going to be so much fun designing your own guitar, and challenging, but that is the fun part.

I love strats as well, and am learning guitar so this sounds like an awesome opportunity and I trust your judgement and expertise ;-)

    p.s. any tuners in mind?

  • I like those old F style tuners, might see if Gotoh make any like that ;-)

  • Chapman Guitar specs: Win

  • Chappers I salute you. Its been so cool to watch you progress over the past couple years. We all appreciate what you are doing.

  • try putting a humbucker in single coil on the bridge position...

    good luck mate..:D

  • hello rob,

i've got a small idea for the neck , if you use a V shaped neck it wil have the feel of a realy thick neck but actualy it fills up the space in your hands(realy nice for bendings),

Keep up the good work man, I learn a lot from you =]

  • Hey man, Great video. Love the editing on your normal videos, really funny, BUT really nice to just hear you talk man.

FWIW, with the sig. strat. Good quality pots and the like make the difference to me.A cool looking guitar always benefits from a bit better set of wiring etc. Just my opinion as a lot of people cut there first to save money which I think it a shame.

  • I am quite fond of the Jake E Lee reverse angled single coil pickups

  • Instead of a tone control, how about a two-way toggle? Toggle up - 100%, toggle down - 90%. I am trying to find someone that can do that to my Telecaster.

  • Hard tail, body thru. Big fat neck like a Tele. Don't let them finish the back of the neck.

  • You could use crescent moon inlays and claim that they are bananas.

  • Wow Chappers! I'm shaking here myself! But because there already are some great ideas I can only suggest, maybe a nice looking racing stripe would be nice :O??? We love you too man!

  • Fuck yeah, Chappers for the win.

  • Morning Chappers!

    Perfect Strat needs to have:

    -alder body

    - maple neck w 22 jumbo frets

    - HSS pick ups with the humbucker covered (maybe PAF type?)

    - reverse headstock for Jimmy feel

    - Wilkinson VSV & locking tuners (highly recommended)

    - superb vintage color (olympic white/ black or seafoam green) Hope that helps and by the way congrats on the deal! That's gotta be absolutely huge for you mate!!

  • 24 jumbo frets ftw

  • HI Chappers! Thats a great deal man ! Am i right in saying barnes and mullins are the distributors, but who actually makes the guitar ? A less known make in taiwan or china ?

  • Congrats man :)

    It's about time!

  • by the way, i think you should throw in one of those sustaining units, and you should definitely cut out and make your guitar have a monkey handle.

  • Nice idea mate!! I did actually think about that, not sure how it affects the tone though ;-)
