I've always loved the blues more than any form of music, I just love the groove and the way that it resonates with your soul.
I've only just discovered Robert Belfour and he is quickly becoming my favourite bluesman. I love the groove, the droning bass and intricate fingerwork, his soulful voice. He really has something special!
@philoscout you are so right if ya dont like robert belfour then you have a hole in your soul, the first time i saw him it was in billings montana and there were 3 stages i ignored the rest, and stood there letting him put me in a trance i told myself then and there that one day i would open for him and my dream came true last april2010 in columbia mo.
@philoscout -- Ah, mebbe they're just clumsy or were too overcome w/ strong emotion to succesfully negotiate the deft hand-finger-arm movement required to press the 'Like' button >clik<. Tho I've been burned, disappointed, disgusted, angered, outraged et al. by some people a buncha times, I tend to STILL give peeps the benefit-of-doubt. Tho I'm pullin back from makin excuses for folks who demonstrate a REAL career-track shitheel no-class predisposition. Belfour's the medicine for that! He rules!
A gem of a performance, and only two drunks half ass clapping in the background for a response. A typical treatment of the best music and musicians this country has produced. A pitiful shame.
saw him on beale st. with an amp and that black acoustic just blaring that sweet drone. man it was haunting i had chills up and down me that summer night. he is the real deal.
this one's got so much truth to it that it's almost hard for me to listen to, and hard to talk about... The singing and the playing are exposed, kind of naked; and there's something about the rhythm: stripped down: no need for heat, or jamming, but a pulse, that halts and picks its way - like it done got old, but keeps on moving all the same... I thank you for it.
haha juke joints musta been awesome, this is a kimbrough cover aint it? also another awesome blues guitarist! check out the hokes english band love the blues! peace!
@JoelGustav Actually his tuning is between dflat and d when i opened for him last april in columbia mo. he had me play his guitar when he had to relieve himself i asked where ya at and he said just natural. my first verse was a bit off cause i always tune slack a whole step. This man is the greatest , and so nice.
@kesenwein21 Good i share our feelings once i heard him it changed lot for me i became very determined and became his friend got him in columbia mo. where the locals have their head up the ass, just to show them the real blues , when the event coordinators ( theatre nxs ) asked me to open by saying you are the only one around here who can fill the bill it was a dream come true.
He sounds a lot like a guy named Gabe Carter that plays on the streets and in clubs around chicago. I love this kind of down and dirty blues! Keep it coming!
I had the pleasure of hearing Mr. Belfour at Red's Lounge in Clarksdale last June....it was one of those mystical trips to Blues Heaven. My son asked him during a break if he ever played slide guitar. He replied, "Hell naw, son....I picks my cords!"
Awesome! It's about time someone got a video of the "Wolfman". I saw him a while back in Helena, AR and even got to sit in with him on drums in Clarksdale, MS that night. More folks need to know about him, this helps a lot. Hill Country!
yeah.. i clapped at the end!

@saxismyaxe Relax, the nature of the music isn't to inspire a rowdy applause but thoughtful pause

@shiknew My comment was delivered rhetorically, i.e. I'm not soliciting a response or reply.

2 i think, sounds like hes in C straight away to my hear. would have to get a guitar and check tho
edaz92 3 years ago 2
Yeah...I've heard either C or D (I mostly use D) and he also uses open G tuned down as well (on Old black mattie maybe)
hamsthesecond 2 years ago
Man he's defniatly down to C could be C flat or even B. but it's C at the highest, makes that guitar sound spooky
karl198 2 years ago
It's C#.. And his lower C# is slightly out of tune.
