I am so happy that the USA has at last realised that great music has been composed in their country. For much too many years, those few people who had the artistic power in schools, concert halls, composers - kept pushing mainly European music. Certainly European music still has much to offer and to learn from. But the dynamics are no more here. So next time the President of the USA welcomes a foreign visitor, I just hope he has a Higjh School Orchestra playing at the reception!
