I went to Santo Rico. All I have to say is that Tomas takes Salsa very seriously!! If you go to his school, you better put in all your time and effort into it or you'll have some explaining to do. I recommend Santo Rico if you're considering Salsa as a career. But for a casual hobby, go elsewhere!
Say whatever you want about technique and style, from what I can see they are the only couple that deserves to be on the dance floor. In social dancing mistakes will be made because (as LaMatatana stated previously) it is entirely feeling based. Dancers from different schools and different styles either mix or they don't. Simple. It may seem sloppy but improv social dancing is an art form in of itself and these two dancers are masters at their craft and practically royalty in the salsa scene.
As for all the negative commentary .really ,really and i mean really not necesarry nor does it have any effect ,you're speaking out of you bottom rears! if you were as knowledgeable as you "critics" say you are you would be aware that the dance of salsa is first and foremost feeling based .This is social dancing not a Performance ! Shani is amazing and as for your views on Tomas, your incredibly outnumbered by his fanbase , and therefore your critic means nothing. PROUD SANTO RICO DANCER !
@dcritic101 I'm not denying that the dance is wack because it sure does look like it....I agree. However, Tomas is very well known for being one of the greatest Salsa dancers alive. He's got an amazing reputation. So, I'm thinking that either Tomas was having a bad day or Shani is a crappy follower. Or one of them is drunk and not themselves. Tomas' reputation is too great for us to say his leading sucks. He's a better dancer than any of us will ever be.

Thomas ain't joke one of MY IDOLS IN THE GAME , and the young is an excellent dancer as well BUT i would like to add and this this just my opinion with all respect to the current dancers . The SANTO RICO STYLE is a spin aggressive style i think even some of the best dancers today might not be able to follow them 100% Back in the summer of say 97 or 98 at SIDE STREET in the BX the girls that danced with SANTO RICO at the time didn't miss a step , one of them was named STRACY , They were awesome
