  • 6:44 - This is how you get bitches.

  • There are so many subtle things in this song no one picks up on, and that prove BTBAM's genius. Example: the complete main lick that comes in at 1:10 (and ends the song) can be divided into 2s and 3s so it looks like 2,2,3,3,2,2,2,3,2,2,2,2,2,2,3,3,3,3,2,2,2,3,2,1. Seems like a random set.

    But get this! Group them into the sets they belong to and you get this: 10 (2+2+3+3), 9 (2+2+2+3), 8 (2+2+2+2), 7 (2+2+3), 6 (3+3), 5 (3+2), 4 (2+2), 3, 2, 1. Yeah... and that's just 10 seconds of the song.

  • @theMOANKAYproject I didnt come on those numbers at 1:10 its rather like 7x3 1x2 3x3 7x2 1x3 5x2 1x1 thou you can change metrum however you want to get different numbers

  • 6:44, repent that you will never be as good of a drummer as blake richardson.

  • 7:06 perfect fill for a metal bridge riff

  • 0:53 "Fraaame by fraaame..."

  • Man that ending is just fucking amazing. For some reason it made me feel proud to be black

  • Greatest nine minutes of my li..... :O OMFG THERE'S MORE YAY

  • amazing guitar, and drum solos, screw it the whole song is awesome!!!!!!

    and yes 19 people suck.

    still awesome song :)

  • wow

  • 1:32=AWESOME!!!!!!!

  • 18 people suck. The end.

  • I don't always do shrooms, but when I do, I close my eyes and listen to a BTBAM album all the way through.

  • Sounds like An Endless Sporadic, if they played metal

  • @Pmarckoue And sang :p

  • my favorite song from the great misdirect!

  • Nothing infuriates me more than when people misuse the word 'epic' and use it to describe the dumbest things... But this song is the TRUE definition to the word Epic in about every sense of the word. This is an EPIC of monumental proportions.

  • 18 people couldn't swim to the moon!

  • Who else is doing vocals on this song? I know Paul does some on one track but not this one I don't think. Crazy song.

  • @ImSoNotHereRightNow I can't recall the guys name right now but he does the band's merch. Check out some of their live performances of this song.

  • HOLY SHIT.

    I

    AM

    IN

    THE

    CRYSTAL

  • 10 grand doing what?????

  • Passenger: what Band is this?

Me: BTBAM its called Swim to the Moon its amazing

Passenger: BTBAM? who the hell are they?

    -stops the car-

Me: Who the hell are you, show some respect or get out and walk buddy.

Thats how you lay down the law :P

  • @WhsMusicGroup You sir have won at life.

  • @WhsMusicGroup you can't about respect if you don even take the time write the whole name of the band...

  • @slayercred The same would go for you and grammar... BOOM!

  • @Mikeymoomah to this time i don't remember what the hell i wrote, but im not concerned about, im a spanish native speaker and i haven't do any english course....it's normal that my grammar isn't perfect :B

  • @slayercred i read it.. "talk" "don't" "to"....i guess i was hurry or the keyboard wasen't in right conditions.....:yaoming

  • @slayercred shit....wasn't.....

  • @theprocedure i totally agree with u man! i hate it wen people tell me my music is "Stupid" or "weird" i mean like really id rather listen to something that changes and is thrilling more then those stupid pop songs that all sound the god damn same!

  • Like seriously, why do I have a boner?

  • 0:00 - 2:40 Fucking. Legendary.

This song makes me want to sexually abuse my hamster....

  • @fakeshake234 Makes you want to use your hamster as a condom.

  • @fakeshake234 DO IT DO IT...DO IT

  • why does this song have to be so good ! : ( ♥

  • BTBAM used to be amazing but now...wtf is this. i mean its different and thats what sets BTBAM apart from everyone else but shit this is almost garbage. why do all bands get terrible with time

  • @joeallenb69 WTF is wrong with you!

  • @joeallenb69 thats gotta be something ive never heard. come on what are you doing, i though you were better than that.. besides try llistening to whole song you cheeseball

  • @joeallenb69 Opinion is what separates you from everyone else as well. They went the direction they wanted to. And to me and many many others it is just as good if not better than most progressive metal out there.

  • Is it just me or does the guitar at.1:40 sound oddly close to the intro on Faust by The Human Abstract(same note ending). I think BTBAM got ripped off

  • @omfgdracula : No I think so too. That whole band is a rip off act. I thought it was a coincidence at first but then I got wise. They borrow stuff from muse (who are rip offs themselves) and the acoustic notes in the intro version to digital veil is a watered down mozart piano piece.

  • @rmed30 That's like saying this guy played a G chord than an E chord, therefore no one else is allowed to play a G chord followed by an E chord. Great minds think alike. There is an unusual similarity between Faust and this song, BUT music is bound to repeat itself knowing that there isnt an unlimited amount of chords/notes/rhythms/time signatures etc. Both The Human Abstract (Digital Veil and Nocturne anyway) and Between the Buried and Me are among the leaders within the prog genre.

  • @Binxes11: There actually IS an infinite number of COMBINATIONs of chords/notes/rhythms/time sigs/ and lyrics. Otherwise music would be over by now.

  • @rmed30 There would have to be an infinite amount of notes/chaords/rhythms/time signatures in order for there to be an infinite amount of combinations. It's simple logic man. Music will and has repeated itself in many many instances. From 300 years ago all the way until today. Think about it. To say there is an infinite amount of combinations to be made with a limited (not infinite) amount of items, may it be theoretical or not, is naive.

  • @Binxes11 not true when length is taken into consideration, or layering. Shape. Think of language. Or for that matter charcoal vs. diamond.

  • @losermonster You're missing my point. I'm not referring to the lyrics, if I were then this whole conversation would not be happening. You said that The Human Abstract rips everyone off. They simply have the same writing style and it is just that riff in faust that is comparable to the intro riff in this song. The vocalists for BTBM and The Human Abstract are quite different from each other. If we are going by that then your argument is invalid.

  • @omfgdracula Yep, I noticed that when I first heard Faust. The Human Abstract is also pretty bad ass so it's all good

  • The first part of this song when the guitar begins to pick up... I get this strange sense or feeling... like it sounds like Secret of Mana... to me. An old Super Nintendo game but having some great music and it feels like a splice of some of the games music to me.

0:47 sounds maybe like the boss music or something..

Then starting from 0:53 it feels like your near this one water temple in the game.. It's strange and peculiar but if anyone else gets this strange sense... about it...?

  • I have a recording of this song thats like 18 min long

  • I bet all of these guys' IQ's are like +160

  • @Bruze7 And also the fan's IQ just like the graphic of IQ show that only a few persons can be over the normal and normal is to hear justin bieber

  • this intro reminded me of Discipline by King Crimson

  • took me 6 months to acually attempt to humm this song in my head

  • 6:43 <3<3<3

  • who's doing the vocals at the part around 3 minutes in, the yelled ones?

  • @EpsilonX its their merch guy i think

  • everyone always calls this song white walls' 'older brother' or something but i actually think obfuscation is alot more like white walls. On colors, Prequel to the Sequel was a standout from the other songs in its whole sound and i think the name suits it perfectly because it is VERY much TGM sounding, almost like a prequel? please agree lol

  • I honestly think this is the best music ive ever heard in my life....

  • These guys like long songs don't they? I guess it shows they've got talent, unlike a lot of bands that just slam shit around for like 2 minutes.

  • @Ebenezershnezer81 Well actually this band slams shit around, But its fucking amazing still :)

  • Going to see these guys at the Crofoot! Fuck yes!

  • @Kryptik316 Be there with ya - word is this is on their playlist (auditory boner).

  • to clear things from the star: this band is not bad. but it doesn t amount to the second coming or it has not an unheard style or it isn t placed in a genre of its own and so on. do your homework before you speak.

  • @nndlchModi Care to point me towards any band that is making similar music on the same level as BTBAM. I would be glad to hear some.

  • @barbwireboy2 bands that are making similar music means for me simply bands that are more or less reducible to the extreme progressive metal scene. here it goes: behold the arctopus, gorguts, gojira, meshuggah, canvas solaris, continuo renacer, dillinger escape plan, botch, dysrhythmia, mastodon, acid bath (even though this band is not that prog, nonetheless is very interesting) blotted science, atheist, coroner, don caballero, indukti, isis, maudlin of the well, opeth und so weiter.

  • @nndlchModi there's also Sigh, UnExpect and Diablo Swing Orchestra :D

  • @MetaIhead89 I don t know Sigh. maybe you mean sikth?

  • @nndlchModi lol no. It's a Japanese black metal band. Check out their albums "Gallows Gallery" and "Hangman's Hymn"!!

  • @barbwireboy2 : Animals as Leaders

  • I literally found out the meaning of life while listening to this.

  • Original, awe inspiring and epic. Just a few words that come to mind while I listen to BTBAM. This song fucks with your head in a good way, It takes serious talent to write like this.

  • The clean vocals really remind of porcupine tree. The part around 9.2 mins in where he sings slide into the water etc is so fucking sick, i don't know what it is, just sounds perfect.

  • im swimming towards the moon..... the moon of nothing

    oh wait wrong song XD

  • 0:53 - 1:10 reminds me of King Crimson.. Im sure they were the inspiration for that.. :D

  • amazing song and album, extremly talented musicians!

  • The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues.

  • if u havent had anal to this song yet idk wtf is wrong with u

  • @Leanpocket69 what the fuck

  • @Leanpocket69 sometimes

  • I hate it when people ask me why I listen to "weird screaming metal." First of all, the only "screaming metal" I listen to is BTBAM. But really, I think people should respect what we listen to and deal with it. I mean, who doesn't love a 18-minute epic masterpiece with a sweet drum solo and awesome guitar licks? Besides, what if you listen to music that I would make fun of? Wow, I'm sure you listen to Jus... okay, you know what I'm gonna say.

Oh well, I'm out of comment space. :)

  • @theprocedure1 who cares?

  • @theprocedure1 I hate when people call it "screaming music" altogether, don't you? It's like their brains have been bludgeoned by traditional pop music that only focuses only vocals, not music or even lyrical content.

  • @theprocedure1 Not screaming. Growling. Screaming is gayness like The Devil Wears Prada and Bring me The Horizon. Death growling is different from punk/metalcore screaming.

  • @TheEmpireofEagles

Idk what ur reply is to, but Dillinger screams, and Greg's a fucking beast that's hard to touch vocally. I'd say Meshuggah's vocals are screams, too. And Devin Townsend. All legends.

  • this is suck ;/

  • @ButterflyLoveBritney I'll cut you, motherfucker.

  • @ButterflyLoveBritney I hope you meant sick, and in a good way. If you didn't, then you need to get your brain checked.

  • I want btbam to keep their progressive sound on their new 2011 album, but also to write some of the most brutal and heavy stuff as well. Who else agrees?

  • It's nearly impossible to follow up an album like Colors, but The Great Misdirect is fantastic.

  • Damn, they really could have went some where special after the first couple minutes of this song. This is the only kind of disappointing thing, in my opinion, from this band.

  • thumbs up if you are here from - A PARTY IN THE USA !!! :D

  • These guys ruined my musical taste man haha now i can only listen to bands like Meshuggah,Cynic,Periphery,Protest The Hero, etc...

i cant go back to bands like Avenged Sevenfold or Killswitch Engage. that music does nothing for me now

  • @darthsasuke554 isn't this a good thing?

  • @plap111 it is. its just kinda weird how i cant go back to the old music i used to listen to

  • @darthsasuke554 yeah the same thing happened to me a few years ago.

  • @darthsasuke554 I totally understand what you are saying. Its like everything else seems so empty and dry. ha! I believe we are experiencing a musical revolution my friend.

  • @darthsasuke554 me too :D

  • @darthsasuke554 Avenged Sevonfold is pretty good i mean like i think there different from a lot of other bands but i totally agree with you after listening to these guys almost every single band just sucks haha

  • @TheSilvi19 Avenged Sevenfolds new album is alright they have the talent and their music has really matured from generic metalcore to...not generic metalcore (sometimes crossing into the progressive realm a few times)

  • @darthsasuke554 theres always tool mane

  • @durfmann12345 I never got into Tool

I do like A Perfect Circle though

  • @darthsasuke554 good shit too. tool is sick though, sounds completely different, yet the same in how complex there music is. Nothin like a good old btbam breakdown though haha

  • @darthsasuke554 They didn't ruin your music taste, they improved it.

  • @darthsasuke554 haha wow same story with me, im sure theres plenty of ppl saying the same thing

  • @darthsasuke554 Dude.... dude. That's all I have to say, rofl. I know what you mean.

  • @darthsasuke554

    This is a good thing.

  • @darthsasuke554 its doing that to me too, except i prefer that kind of more simple music. but its not the same anymore, hearing such simple power chords

  • @darthsasuke554 thats cause NC knows how to fuck shit up but yes BTBAM will rape your ears and cause you to need a hearing aid but you'll like it :D

  • @darthsasuke554 I face the same issue. mudvayne was my favorite for ages and then I heard the solo in selkies and my perspective on music has never been the same. now i'm taking baby steps to becoming a djent guitarist :D

  • @MudTide1993

i think btbam is actually a bit different from djent,no ?

  • @SolidG0D oh, yeah, but they got me into prog metal which in turn got me into djent. sorry i didn't clarify xD

  • @darthsasuke554 truth

  • @darthsasuke554 You should listen to Soreption.

  • @darthsasuke554 i wish i knew more people like you, most kids i know only listen to those crappy metalcore bands lol

  • @darthsasuke554 Lol u say "ruined", I hear "fixed"

  • @darthsasuke554 cynic is the best band in the world!!!!!

  • @phreestylesk8r I thought Atheist was the only jazz metal band out there. Than i heard Traced in Air and i was like "What is this amazing music!?!?!" Cynic is truly one of the best

  • @darthsasuke554 YES! traced in aiir is the best album ever!

  • @darthsasuke554 I know exactly what you mean. I have had to compartmentalize. I just put them in very distinct categories and try desperately not to compare them because I know who is better.

  • @darthsasuke554 you have been saved my friend, welcome to music

  • @darthsasuke554 : some people can trace their journey even further. 311,good charlote----->slipknot, korn -----> killswitch, as I lay dying ------> btbam, meshuggah, Opeth ------> ????

  • @rmed30 mine is something like elvis,outkast--->metallica,nirvana---->in flames, parkway drive,----> bmth, suicide silence, JFAC----->btbam, djent, prog

    i hope you're taking notes? ;)

  • @rmed30  Opeth -----> Gorod????

  • @darthsasuke554 omg thats so fucking true haha these guys got me into prog metal, funny how you listed exactly my favorite bands as well

  • @darthsasuke554 Once you go Prog, you never go back.

  • @darthsasuke554 So true man

  • @darthsasuke554 been like this the last two years... i've become a douchbag since then :( .... we are Sick WE ARE SICK!!!!! .... nah i keed but happens to me too

  • the reason i think btbam is one of the best bands out there right now is because they are the perfect fusion of hardcore metal and clean melodies. that and they proved with colors that they can basically write any genre of metal music. clown metal, pirate metal, rodeo metal, hillbilly metal, tropical metal, egyptian metal, or epic metal. and it all sounds great.

  • 6:40 gets coolio

  • @42855001 your a douchebag hahahhah id like to hear what shit you listen to you little faggot. go jam to colors album or selkies or aspirations or mordecai anything else they produce and see what real music is like. sorry Nickleback hurrrr!!!look at this photograph! hurrr! music isnt cooler you cheeseball.

  • lol

  • why the fuck do i not own this album

  • So that Painted in Exile is fucking amazing. They don't really have a similar SOUND to btbam, but fuck are the good. New top 5 band. Up there with btbam, animals as leaders and periphery.

  • @nanthil i like your fucking taste man, nice nice nice

  • these guys suck:/ way overrated

  • @42855001 First of all they are underrated, and some of the most genius musicians in the entire field. Go listen to Mirrors, if it doesn't blow your mind stop listening to music.

  • @Calibur43 ya or maby u should just listen 2 some real music and stop listening 2 this bullcrap:)

  • @42855001 Techno is not "real" music. Try again.

  • @42855001 You, obviously have no musical intellect. BTBAM has an unheard of style... combining like people said, Prog, Metal, Jazz, and cultural backgrounds into all of their music. Every album changes their style slightly and they progress off of each album. They are amongst the greatest collaboration of musicians ever assembled into one mind-blowing group.

  • @XXOAPTRAGEDY no.

  • @EpsilonX Yeah, okay Mr. I like From Fist To Ass and Linkin Park.

  • Comment removed

  • @EpsilonX BTBAM also writes good songs with technicality, whats your point?

  • @lankeysob all i hear is technicality. I can make absolutely no emotional connection to their music. i mean yea other people can like them, but whenever i see somebody saying that this band is like the greatest band ever and they make the most mindblowing music ever, i can't help but disagree because I don't hear anything more than astounding technicality, which, as cool as that is, music needs more than just that. i guess this is just my opinion but people treat btbam like the second coming

  • @EpsilonX Because people believe they are the second coming, just because you dont see a emotional connection or think they are great song writers doesn't mean others of us don't. Plenty of powerful moments in BTBAM songs.

  • @lankeysob yea you got a point there. just cuz i don't see it doesn't mean that other people do. my friend said he loves the way they write but i personally really dislike it. i think selkies is a great song though.

  • @EpsilonX Lmfao, great call. Meshugguh sucks a fat one.

  • @XXOAPTRAGEDY is that sarcasm or do you really not like them?

  • @EpsilonX I really hate Meshugguh. They're horrible.

  • 6:43. that is all

  • Does swimming regularly make you grow taller?

  • Not hatin on em, this is just way too varied.

  • THIS BAND IS AMAZZZZZZZZZZINGGGGGGGGGGGGG

  • Am I the only person that thinks The Great Misdirect > Colors...I love all of their albums to death, but I want to known some people's opinions

  • @barbwireboy2 The Great Misdirect > Colors

  • @barbwireboy2 If i rated both 1 - 10, i would put

    Colors: 10

    The Great Misdirect: 9.8

They are very similar to me, but just listening to Colors the whole way through affects me much more than listening to The Great Misdirect the whole way through.

Can't wait for their new EP!

  • @barbwireboy2 If i rated both 1 - 10, i would put

Can't wait for their new EP!

  • @barbwireboy2 They are both superb albums, but like someone said, listening to Colors all the way through feels like one epic journey.

  • @barbwireboy2 I totally agree. Colors was when they STARTED making music. The Great Misdirect is where they actually made almost everything musical. They get the point of being musicians instead of just guitarists, bassists, etc. The Great Misdirect is where they really drove that point home.

  • @generictitlemaster dude that i totally disagree!! alaska and silent circus were AMAZING albums.. even their cover album kicked ass

  • @shootmordecai I'm not saying those weren't good albums, it's just kind of silly to think that they were more musical than the newer two. With The Great Misdirect being the most musical. Alaska and Silent Circus were more just standard death metal with some cool prog elements. Their new direction is so unlike any other band out there that I find it hard to make comparisons between the old BTBAM era and the new one.

  • Colours and The Great Misdirect are still my two favourite albums of all time.

I want this played at my funeral. Not that it has any relevance to my life, or my eventual death. I just want it played. It's the best song ever.

  • this gave my computer a boner

  • theres no way they sound as good as this band. sorry brada its just not happening. whos account am i on right now?someone didnt log out ayyyy .Painted In Exile....... good luck (Taken)
