This is a Japanese series, based on American novels. I won't make judgment as to which translation was best, but I will note that the German version was heavily edited. This to cut out violent scenes and to shorten it. The Italian and French openings, I believe, both led to pop hits based on their themes.

A few days ago I bought the whole soundtrack at the German iTunes Store. Believe it or not, they have the whole album with 18 tracks! Some are just score but at least five are awesome songs. I like the jazzy ones best. "Feinde greifen an" ("Enemies attack") was remixed by a DJ in 1998 and even made it into the top ten of the German charts. I was surprised so many people remembred that track as it's not the opening title.

You are right it is a just a cartoon but back in the 60's and 70's the intro song to many cartoons intro set the tone for the cartoons. Nowadays the music is canned, lame and insults kids and adults alike. The German version of the Captain Future intro is exciting and make you want to watch and see what this is all about. If it wasn't for the German intro I would not know anything about Captain Future because the music captivated me and got me interested in the series.
