@kinkysoybean Remember that this was at a time when Lulu, Petula Clark and Dusty Springfield had all had chart hits and some producer was looking to chart with Julie again, using a bubblegum song. When you consider that even Sinatra had tried to chart the same way (Sinatra recorded LOVE ME TENDER and The Beatles' "YESTERDAY and "SOMETHING") it's not so surprising that they tried to revive her career with a POS pop tune.

@leonaofficial I have no problem with people having other tastes in music. I do question people whose 'taste' is dominated by their self-identification as a fan. No performer can claim every performance was a success. Aretha Franklin is awesome, but her cover of Jumpin' Jack Flash is a tragedy.

If it makes me sad to know this performers better works, and realize that this was a mistake for her, then I will choose to be sad.

Singing a cover of a pop song, to me, that's as bad, or worse then being pigeonholed. Even though I loved the song, it's really just a bit of fluff, and she really deserves better.

The lady was a hell of a big band singer when she was younger. Wish I had been young enough to hear her sing live when she travelled with the band. She made a very sucessful transition to film and TV. Too bad so many of the greats are gone now & all we have is rap, hippity-hop crap and so-called singers who look/act more like strippers in seedy bars.
