I dunno, but I think the new daleks being in garish colors just made it MORE spine-chilling when they walzed out with "imperial" sort of music in the BG and exterminated the "lesser" daleks. The way THOSE go to their death really shows you how utterly inhumanm these things are. Also, so awesome how Amy almost saves the Day on her own XD
