Me and my boss who is 60 years old were talking basketball and Derrick Rose came up. I said he reimds me of Jordan from 1984 to 1988! And my boss whose a basketball fanatic who saw greats like Oscar and Kareem play live said" I don't know I think he's might be even more athletic than Jordan in terms of his fluidity!" I was shocked because then I realized you have guys like Wall, Westbrook, Shelby, Rondo, Wade, Gordon, Derozan, Young,etc...but out of all the young NBA guards Rose is just special.
@scandalousJo3 From a pure stat standpoint CP3's numbers rival the LEGENDARY Zeke Thomas. He's the best overall player at that position. Besides Nash he's the most effecient PG. But in terms of match-ups he doesn't have the type of technology even when he's healthy to fuck with Rose. CP3 is not athletic enough to consistently beat Rose off the dribble so he will have to use a pick to create offense. Rose can use a pick or just blow by him or BEAST him to the rack. Rose > CP3!
@scandalousJo3 ESPN has no merit in my world. I know enough about the NBA where I can make my own list. Go check SLAM magazine online and they did a rebuttal to ESPN's top 50 which was more definitive and they ranked Rose #4 and CP3#8! Rose is 22 and won an MVP and got his team to the ECF's. PAul is a veteran and has never gotten past the second round. Like I said CP3 is better right now and better overall. Rose could learn from CP#'s game but in terms of potential Rose is just more talented.
@scandalousJo3 Also you have to realize Rose is pretty much already a first ballot hall-of-famer because he won an MVP. EVERY MVP winner so far is in the Hall. If Rose stays healthy for at least 5 more years he's in. In terms of stats CP3 deserves to be in there and like I said Rose has ALOT to learn. But in terms of talent there are only two other pg's in NBA history who I might consider taking ahead of Rose in a fantasy draft and that's Magic and Penny. He's just revolutionary.
very first play Paul was trying to foul Rose before he could get going but Rose was just too fast. I remember a game at the UC earlier this season when Deng and Rose were both chasing a lose ball. Luol had about a 10-foot head start but looked like Luol would not be fast enough to catch up. Then Rose ran past Luol and saved the ball. Incredibly fast.
