Our prison system does little to reform criminals and many prisoners come out worse than when they went in. I read somewhere that inmates mutilate themselves as a deliberate way to attract the attention of the guards. These inmates are too weak to stand up for themselves against the other inmates, so they keep attracting the guards' attention for protection.
I knew a guy who did some time in county jail. He was kept in a dormitory and given a foot locker for his possessions. He said guys there lifted their foot lockers for exercise.
That right there is 215lb, I only way 170. ''thats about double my weight''. Double your weight is 340lb. More proof these inmates need books instead of weights.

I never understood why prisons have such well-equipped gyms. The general public needs to understand that the only 2 measures of our current correctional system are incapacitation and security. Rehabilitation and treatment are just ideals/bonuses that are optional to a progressive prison but with budget cuts, overcrowding due to harsh sentences and low public incentive our prisons will just remain holding pens. 97% of inmates are released eventually. Does prison really serve any positive purpose aside from keeping "them" away from "us"?

The prison system of this country not work.
1. The physical training would be banned for inmates.
2. The food must be a surviving diet to kept the inmates lived but weak.
3. The violent inmates must be removed from the non-violent inmates.
4. The violent inmate that is allways causing trouble must be killed.
5. No hot water, no air conditioner, no heat during the winter.
6. Forced work.
7. Inmate that not want to work must be killed.

I read somewhere that inmates mutilate themselves as a deliberate way to attract the attention of the guards. These inmates are too weak to stand up for themselves against the other inmates, so they keep attracting the guards' attention for protection.

I knew a guy who did some time in county jail. He was kept in a dormitory and given a foot locker for his possessions. He said guys there lifted their foot lockers for exercise.

I never understood why prisons have such well-equipped gyms. Okay, I understand that working out alievates depression and combats boredom and all that but is it really a wise idea to encourage prisoners to get bigger and stronger than prison guards to the extent that said corrections officers are no match for them one-on-one? How do you intimidate and maintain control of and authority over people that can drop your ass like a bag of dirt if they wanted to? Just take 'em out for walks!

The general public needs to understand that the only 2 measures of our current correctional system are incapacitation and security. Rehabilitation and treatment are just ideals/bonuses that are optional to a progressive prison but with budget cuts, overcrowding due to harsh sentences and low public incentive our prisons will just remain holding pens. 97% of inmates are released eventually. Does prison really serve any positive purpose aside from keeping "them" away from "us"?
