The style and finesse that Tommy finished that song with is exactly the kind of thing that makes him one of a very rare breed of guitarist. I dont think any other player I'm aware of approaches perfection as closely as he does. Simply magical. But then...what do you expect, he is an Aussi.... :)

Jack Jones he is now know as Irwin Thomas the band he was in at the time was called Southern Sons. At the time of this recording he was touring with John Farnham which is why he sounds a lot like him

I dunno - it put a bit a life to a song that should be included on a compilation album entitled "Music to Die To" which will also include such gems as Gary Jules and Mad World,amongst others.
The singer sounds like he's auditioning for the movie "Aladdin". Seriously, he's WAY too dramatic and over-the-top. They should've just let Emmanuel play and kicked that guy to the curb.
Jack has always been one of my favourite artists and always will be. He is amazingly talented not just for his vocals but as an amazing guitarist. I was lucky enough to see him in concert many times when Southern Sons came to Perth and he is an unbelievably brilliant performer live. I think he lives in the U.S now and I miss hearing about him! Not many artists make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up when they're performing but he certainly does! Was 19 in this vid.
And he did tour with Farmham, as Guitarist and BV, played on the album and Southern sons did the support for the tour & at that point they were both managed by the same manager. I don't think it had anything to do with him " sounding like Farmham"
Farnham clone. U must be deaf!. The timbre of their voices are similar, but hardly "the same" It's a very narrow minded thing to say that he is a "clone" of Farnham when Farnham has a older more seasoned vocalist.
At this point Jack had only been singing for a short 2.5 yrs. Now the guy is totally in his comfortzone vocally.
At first I thought he was off key on some notes, however on further review I understood that his style is unique and his notes carry and have a pure tone. But them again I listened to it on a great bose system.
prior to that he did the voice of farnham in a parody called 'top five' or some such thing. i think it was the d-gen or full frontal or one of those mobs.
I think its because he's using internal pickup rather than an external mic. This results in less feedback problems when playing live, but the sound you get isn't quite as full.
I think he sounded great. Just because he didn't really sing some of the melody exactly like the original, doesn't mean he ruined it. It's called being "original and creative". His voice is really soothing and sincere, he sang the words with real emotion, I happen to like this version better.

Jack has always been one of my favourite artists and always will be. He is amazingly talented not just for his vocals but as an amazing guitarist. I was lucky enough to see him in concert many times when Southern Sons came to Perth and he is an unbelievably brilliant performer live. I think he lives in the U.S now and I miss hearing about him! Not many artists make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up when they're performing but he certainly does! Was 19 in this vid.

And he did tour with Farmham, as Guitarist and BV, played on the album and Southern sons did the support for the tour & at that point they were both managed by the same manager. I don't think it had anything to do with him " sounding like Farmham"

Farnham clone. U must be deaf!. The timbre of their voices are similar, but hardly "the same" It's a very narrow minded thing to say that he is a "clone" of Farnham when Farnham has a older more seasoned vocalist.
At this point Jack had only been singing for a short 2.5 yrs. Now the guy is totally in his comfortzone vocally.

At first I thought he was off key on some notes, however on further review I understood that his style is unique and his notes carry and have a pure tone. But them again I listened to it on a great bose system.

I think its because he's using internal pickup rather than an external mic. This results in less feedback problems when playing live, but the sound you get isn't quite as full.

I think he sounded great. Just because he didn't really sing some of the melody exactly like the original, doesn't mean he ruined it. It's called being "original and creative". His voice is really soothing and sincere, he sang the words with real emotion, I happen to like this version better.
