  • THIS JUST HAPPENED TO ME WTF IM ON THE LAST PART HOW DO I FIX IT DX

  • I found a way to fix this damn glitch. If you save the game with the pistil then exit and reload the game. You don't get this annoying sound error. I hope this helps everyone who is having same problem.

  • LOOOOLLLLLLLLLLL.

SAME EXACT PROBLEM. On our PS3, too!

I am SO GLAD it's not just us!

  • If you buy it from the PS Store, it doesn't happen. They must have fixed it, sucks they can't put out a bug fix for disc games

  • Oh, dude, the exact same thing happened to me when I started playing it on the PS3. I could have played it on my PS2, but I didn't want to screw around with the Memory Cards. Look where that got me. :P I'm pretty sure that this was exactly where the glitch started for me, too. It happens in other areas, which sucks if you're being chased by monsters.

Maybe it's a glitch that's brought out by the PS3 emulation?

  • Started playing this on ps3 last night and the sound didn't happen in the cafe but fighting a dog outside did. I've noticed it's the gun shots doing it, so if you need to keep playing you can use the knife or steel pipe and the sound won't happen. Didn't get far before going back to playing on the ps2 so I have no idea if later guns will do it as well. Also entering a loading screen turns the sound off again, so if you can tolerate it in short bursts, you can work around it in emergencies.

  • wait i was gonna get this game on psp does it have the same problem?

  • @DarkTormentor13 nope Im currently playing it on my PSP (downloaded from PSN for 5 bucks) and it works fine.

  • that alwasy happened to me. and then when i kept shooting it got so loud my sound on the game stopped coming out.

  • Never had this happen to me. Ever. :|

  • the best silent hill out of all of them, dont care wot plp say its a known FACT. glad i own this on original copy.....guna keep it forever :)

  • OMG, that happenend to me when I last played SH on my PS3, pissed me off, cause the only way to make it stop was for me to turn everything OFF

  • MEEP MEEP

  • The PSN version of Silent Hill doesn't have this bug, so it may be a good alternative. At least, I haven't encountered it yet.

  • @POLE7645 It does. I keep getting it in the Nowhere level. REALLY annoying that I paid for a glitch that nearly makes it unplayable.

  • @Abalistar

It could be a number of factors (it could've encountered problems during downloading, your console could have a problem, maybe you missed a system update). I finished the game and I didn't encountered the glitch.

  • @POLE7645 It does. I keep getting it in the Nowhere level. REALLY annoying that I paid for a glitch that nearly makes it unplayable.

  • I got that stupid glitch when I reached the nowhere level X(

  • Damn that really sucks! Is that a random occurance? I really want to get this for the PSP

  • OMFG! This happened to this morning as soon as I beat the game! As soon as I shot the final shot, this sound came on and lasted until the credits. My original disk is broken so I had to play my PS3 version and well. That really annoyed me :|

  • PS3 FIX:

    -1 Pair of HDMI Cables ( $3 CHEAP or a $150 one)

    - 720P and Higher HDTV ( 1080i/p )

Go to [SYSTEM SETTINGS ] > [SOUND Settings] > HDMI > Manual >

Pick EVERY OPTION > GO TO THE BOTTOM of the LIST UNSELECT every TWO Other

  • I'm using the disc version of the game and this didn't work for me, sadly. Guess I have to dig out the PS2.

  • EX:

    -5.1 SELECTED

    -5.1 [UNSELECT]

    -5.1 [UNSELECT]

    - 7.1 SELECTED

    - 7.1 [UNSELECT]

    - 7.1 [UNSELECT]

    Run Silent Hill

Go to SETTINGS, SET Audio to MONO

  • Know wonder they took Slent Hill off the PSN store! Hope there fixing the bug.

  • They... Never had it in USA.

  • this happened to me before but it stopped and on my second playthrough it it stopped completly

  • I was so anxious to play Silent Hill on PS3. But when I fired a shot near Harry's crashed Jeep, it made that annoying sound. I went into the convenience store and it stopped, but continued throughout the game. It's ok though, cause I still have my PS2, and much rather play it on there. I mean seriously, Silent Hill music and effects are some of the best ever, that's my opinion.

  • Playing SH on mute is like eating food when you have no taste buds.

  • I have a PS3 and it seems to happen only with this game. It happened to me that same exact time, and a few other times. It's quite annoying. :/

  • you can play ps1 games on ps3? gtfo!

  • Wow! it doesnt do it to me until i get to the the centipede boss fight! so i can play the game quite far in.... thats strange. How the hell does it do it to you there?! I have the UK 60GB Console.

  • i have the 40 GB Playstation 3 and i play all sorts of original Playstation games like Final Fantasy 7 and that doesn't happen to me

  • the 40 GB model does not play any ps2/ps1 games....

  • You are half right, it does play PS1 games, but no PS2.

  • All models play PS1 games.

  • it happens to me with a normal ps1 except i dont have to be fightinjg anything it will just pop up out of nowhere

  • that's weird... this doesn't happen to me at all.

maybe it's because some PS3 models run PS1 games differently, I have the 80GB model.

  • I have the 80GB model as well, but unfortunately, it does happen on mine.

  • lol its the same noise when the ps2 freezes.

  • F*** i have the same problem, anyidea what causes this!?

i'ma record that happening on my ps3, one sec.

    watch it

  • GameFAQs says it's the stereo/mono settings, they say it doesn't happen on mono which is true. But it happens to me regardless while recording, I guess it's just bad emulation.

  • If you mean the 80GB, then yes it is bad emulation. But for the 60GB (the version that I have), it happens too. There must be some kind of problem with the actual hardware, either the PS2 hardware or the PS3 hardware. I have hope that Sony hasn't finished improving backwards compatability and maybe they can fix this in the future. FW 2.42, for instace, supposedly improved some Playstation titles' "performace". It hasn't fixed this error but maybe later on...

  • I have the exact same problem. And it scare the crap outta me....

  • Are you download this from PlayStation Store?

  • Nope, this is the original game that I've had for a long ass time now.

  • I remember you said that your PSOne memory is missing, I think you can buy one from Ebay

  • I'm not too big on using ebay, mainly because paypal's screwed me over more than once(not gonna go into detail about that, it was bad though), though maybe I can find one in a local pawn shop or something.

  • Radio..Whats going on with that radio?

LOL! now i feel like playng this, its a been a while since.

sucks about your sound though hope u find a way to fix it

  • Damn that sucks.
