Awesome Job Pete. It was a pleasant surprise to see you I had know idea you and so many others had volunteered. I posted all the Pic's I took on the Basket brigade site, if you see any you can use I can send send them to you. It will take a day or two but I am going to upload them to my flickr account, I'll send a link when it is done
About time I see Peter doing something with his energy that I totally agree with, Where is Adam, Oh, right there are no cops around so he is pretty much useless
don't I have a right to my own charity? I think it's important to allow everyone the right to demonstrate goodwill for each other in their own way, that doesn't conflict with their own spirituality or other beliefs/thoughts on what is charitable and helpful and what isn't - when charity is done through government it always neglects the respect of individual experience and compassion - charity can't be done through 'democracy' without infringing on someone's freedom of religion.
The issue isn't the fact that "no one would take care of the poor" but rather the fact that cutting the government services which take care of the poor now BEFORE giving them any organized alternative will lead to disaster, not to mention a huge amount of animosity towards those who are cutting the programs.
Anarchism isn't about getting rich or owning shitloads of stuff, but about creating social equality which means economic equality as well (i.e. no social classes).
@juliaisafilmbuff123 - Julia, I think that this video demonstrates 2 things... first, that people would take care of 'the poor' even *with* government attempting to take over all charity through taxation, and that steps are being taken by the liberty community to put systems into place that assist those in need before any financial/government collapse and/or a voting out of current systems.
@juliaisafilmbuff123 "the fact that cutting the government services which take care of the poor now BEFORE giving them any organized alternative will lead to disaster"
Prove it.
You have stated this is a "fact", so prove it. You have evidence of this? A citation? Somewhere it has occurred?
"Anarchism is...about creating social equality"
False. Anarchism is merely no institution of coercion. That's all.
Charity > government handouts. Great job guys! Very nice thing to do!

Voluntary charity is the only way for each person to have the opportunity to give peacefully -

Gift economies > capitalism

@juliaisafilmbuff123 Capitalism is what caused some of us to be able to donate.

@MrBdross In the same manner that chattel slavery caused several hip-hop artists to be able to donate large sums of their money to charity...

@juliaisafilmbuff123 This is capitalism. People spending their private property as they wish to.
